I have shopped at Altar'd State before and had prior issues with the quality of their clothes, which their team did resolve quickly by providing a refund since my issue at the time was a large hole in a dress that was sold to me at full price. Unfortunately I went back last October to get a skirt to wear to an event and now, not even a year later, after only wearing this skirt a handful of times, the zipper has come off of the skirt making it unwearable. I have returned to being extremely disappointed in their lack of quality clothing considering the prices they are charging. I do understand this brand is considered fast fashion so I should not expect amazing longevity, but if their clothes will not hold up for even a year of inconsistent wear, they should lower their prices to fit the lack of quality. read more

My daughter drags me here each trip to the Town Center...but I can't complain. The prices are stiff but the sales are decent, too. Staff is always attentive and friendly. We love the vibe and comfy seats in the changing rooms. read more

The sale area is great and pretty good prices, but couldn't really or didn't want to pay for the prices they were asking. It's a Christian store with music. On Mondays 10% of your purchase goes towards the community. Bought a bag and only had it on for an hour and it's falling apart. This store window is so cute and it looks like bohemian style in a way, but conservative as well. read more

What a cute and stylish little store!!!!! I told my husband that if I could put my style likes and loves into the form of a store, this would be it. The front of the store seemed to be dedicated to couples getting married and giving ideas for wedding decorations (kind of like Pinterest in real life). Then as you move back there's color blocks and the casual dress. Their bathing suits are THEE CUTEST. The store also offers the brand Natural Life and the have their own little table section towards the back. The jewelry is beautiful and seems to be from either local brands or just small independent sellers (which I love, but is just expensive). BEWARE: This store is super pricey. A bathing suit bottom I saw was $50 and this really adorable blouse-dress thing was like $75. So kind of like Urban Outfitters pricing, but the style is just way cuter. read more

I've been shopping at Altar'd State for years and even worked at a location for a short time when I was in college in my hometown, so I always loved the store and loved what the company stood for. I recently moved to Jacksonville with my fiancé and was so excited that we had an AS location nearby. With our wedding and honeymoon coming up I knew I wanted to shop at AS for all my sweaters and clothing since were honeymooning somewhere cold. Went to this location for the first time and was very sad with how me and my fiancé were treated. We walked into the store and everyone was greeted and told about the sales...except us. There were sales associates walking around the store and asked how everyone was doing...except us, no one ever spoke to us. I was walking around carrying armfuls of clothes and no one offered to start me a dressing room, but they offered to start one for many people around us. It seemed like we were being purposely ignored, we asked for help to get higher hanging items down only to be ignored but when other costumers asked they were helped immediately. When I had over 10 pieces of clothing in my arms I went into the fitting room area and asked if I could have a fitting room and everything worked out except for 1 sweater. When I got all my stuff I asked the sales associate in the fitting room area if I could put that 1 sweater on the rack because it didn't work for me and she rolled her eyes and with a mean look she goes... "sure...I'm guessing everything else didn't work out either?" I was and still am so confused why she said that...I don't know what she was implying, but it was hurtful. I just said "no everything was fine except this sweater." Me and my fiancé then continued looking around the store and when we once again tried to get a sales associate to help us get a jacket down from a high up area to only be ignored again we decided to just check out and leave. If I didn't need to have these sweaters to get on a plane in 2 days I would've just left without buying anything. The ONLY time we were acknowledged by the sales associates were when we were walking out with all our bags because we had bought $500 worth of clothing and they were trying to be nice to us then. It was a very sad experience. We think we were being ignored because we had walked in wearing lounge wear and I didn't have my makeup or hair done so maybe the sales associates thought we looked sloppy so we weren't going to buy anything? Still no excuse for how we were treated. Or maybe we were ignored because I'm a heavier set woman and maybe the sales associates assumed nothing would fit me? Well it does and still no excuse to completely ignore us. We also think that was the reason that comment was made in the dressing room. Strongly advise these employees read over the mission statement of this company a few times and learn the company's values again because they must've forgotten. Every person should be treated equally, it was embarrassing to be treated so poorly. read more

Been wanting to check this place out for a while! Service was sweet, most items a bit pricey but really cute. I did find some shoes and earrings on sale...yay me! I'll keep my eyes out for another sale, would like to go back for a couple things! read more

Quintessential femininity! If lace, frills, embroidery, pastel colors, and flowey bohemian clothes make you sigh, then Altar'd State is for you! Everywhere you turned I saw *another* outfit displayed I'd love to own. It was hard to FIND those outfits however. The clothes were tightly packed together in rows all around the store without a clear idea *where* that displayed dress was and I felt a little overwhelmed. I just wandered amidst the lace and cotton and soaked up the adorable clothes with my eyes until running into the sale section at the far back of the store. If I thought the clothes in the normal part of the store were tightly packed together----the sale section was nearly *impossible* to pull things off the rack! The top rack was also too high (even for a basketball player) so I didn't even try. I ended up pulling the *same* dress 3 different times from different sections of the sale section so I thought A. It MUST be fate for me to own this dress and also B. They really need to give the sale section some more space so a person can actually view the clothes more. The designated area to try on the clothes was plush and decently lit! It felt super cozy and inviting. The sale section had an "Additional 25% OFF" deal so I was excited about purchasing two dresses. However, one of the dresses that was in the sale section (also marked down) wasn't *really* for sale (?) but at least did qualify for a "Purchase one item at regular price and receive another at 50% off. " I really like this store and would love for it to succeed. I buy nearly all my clothes online because I just don't *like* yanking clothes packed in like sardines. I'd love for them to reorganize for ease of other shoppers. read more

I love this store more than I should. The service here is top notch (the best service I've experienced in any store at St. John's TC)! I usually head straight for the back (sale section) then work my way to the front. They have amazing sales in the back and usually a deal for an extra percentage off that price. Today I broke tradition and started browsing front to back (i.e. The normal way). They displayed too many perfect outfits for my eyes today. By the time I struggled with my pretty items to the back my credit card was screaming from inside my purse. I was able to find great deals on the back along with a few accessories on sale and a couple of beautiful tops from the front (aka full price most gorgeous area). Also, I love their cute bags...ask to have your items separately wrapped and bagged for gift items to save you wrapping costs!! read more

I'm biased since my daughter works here. I actually went in for the first time Saturday afternoon. This place is awesome. i have to admit I was a little overwhelmed with the atmosphere. Alot of beautiful clothing and trinkets.....pretty upscale and expensive for my taste, but they definitely have their niche. Everything was beautifully displayed and I got a chance to see some of the displays that my daughter worked on to accentuate the clothing and accessories. read more

Downloaded Yelp just to write this review. Left the store in tears today. Went to return a pair of 70$ leggings today just because I found a better pair for 20$. The store would not refund me because the sales associate messed up the transaction on her part, saying she paid ME for the leggings. (She did not btw and if she did why would I be returning a free pair of leggings?) Left the store without my leggings or the 70$ refund. Sales associates do not know what they're doing. The girl had to add up my total on a calculator and had to ask another associate to help her. I'm a 19 year old girl and told them they were taking my money. They treated me like I was 10 and took advantage of it. So upset. Never again. read more
