Recently had to use their service for a big move. The service was amazing. This time the movers that were contracted brought a large truck with more than enough rooms (I had to abandon a large amount of belongings last time). They even informed me to not pack or do any lifting (compared to last time when the movers showed up with inadequate equipment and I also had to help lift). They were also very responsive. Previously they never responded and I had to hound them due to inactivity on their end (I got my flight booked less than three days prior to my start date). This time, they responded in a few hour and were actually helpful. The planning was much better this time. They got me my flight a month in advance and all matters such as packing and car shipping were done prior to the flight (unlike last time where there were obviously no effort or care on Altairs part). There was an issue with an accessibility attachment I requested for my rental car that Altair still claims they paid for, but the rental car agency claims was not paid for. No effort was put in to remedy it but it is what it is. Overall, massive improvements. Altair, specifically Laura, was extremely attentive, professional, and courteous. read more

If your company just told you Altair, aka Altairrible, will handle your corporate relocation, prepare yourself for a never ending nightmare. Unhelpful coordinators? Yup - enjoy when they gaslight and lie to you and find new ways to harass you at every step of the way, even after you've completed your move. Refusal to reimburse you even after you submit receipts and proof of payment? Yup - it's so very kind of us to provide them interest free loans when they neglect their repayment obligations. Uninhabitable temporary living quarters? Yup - I didn't research the place they selected and woke up with a mouse in my bed. Had I checked google reviews, I would've known the place had known sanitary issues as residents previously reported bug and pest infestations. Logistical messes? Yup - at every step of the way. Insanely inflated prices? Yup - it's a ripoff. But if you've already landed on Altair's Yelp page, you've probably also experienced their infamous customer service and unique approach to relocations, so take comfort in knowing you're not the only victim of Altairrible. If you haven't agreed to have them handle your move yet, negotiate a lump sum instead and take care of everything yourself. You'll save yourself weeks of your life and an insane amount of stress by avoiding this company. read more

Altair global messes things up all the time. Communication was awful. Calls were often ignored. We had a deadline for when we needed to move. They had no since of urgency. We worked with Pamela Cleaver. She was horrible. She spoke to me and my husband like we were stupid. We would tell her something that we wanted, and she would do the opposite. read more

Be careful in planning your move when selling a house through Altair. They will get a pre-inspection and then try to make you "fix" everything the inspector calls out. You will be stuck paying for contractors to come to the house to prove the inspector knows nothing. Hopefully, you get a decent inspector. We didn't. On the buy side, we got stuck with a bad real estate company but if you want closing costs covered you're stuck with them. Every question about a reimbursement is generally a NO. Get ready for that. The house sale side is bad with them. You're lucky in that your company may be covering the commission (huge savings), but the process is quite a bit worse than selling it yourself. Be ready to do a lot more paperwork as Altair isn't going to take any responsibility for your house. If you have a house with known issues, be ready for a fight getting it listed. read more

I've been trying for months to resolve a claim for what I consider to be gross negligence and damage with this company. I have even applied their own formula to the damage and they continue to disrespect the damage. UPDATE: I reached out to the CEO Chad Sterling this morning, and now they are honoring the contract, and I still get to close today. Thank you. Too bad it doesn't give negative stars. I'm trying to buy a house from them and they wait until the morning of closing and they say the repairs they agreed to in my contract couldn't get done in time. Instead of offering a credit for the repairs so my closing could still go through, they said they aren't authorized and my closing is now delayed. I may lose the house entirely and all the money I've already invested in it if I have to walk away. It will cost you more to re-list the house than to give me the $7,000 credit for repairs to the shower. This was supposed to be resolved 3 days before closing. This house has foundation problems and needs $20,000 in piers. It has asbestos and needs a $18,000 abatement and a $6000 ceiling refinish. It's walls have damages and need $18,000 in point up and paint. It's carpets have holes and stains throughout the house and replacement costs $15,000. There is a moisture problem under the house that has caused the bricks to need mortar that I don't even have estimates for yet. I get to pay for everything except for the shower repairs you agreed to, so repair the shower or give me the money to repair it! read more

I work for a company that required we use Altair for our relocation services. The company and its representatives are woefully inadequate at their jobs. The response times for communications are long and the replies are often lacking essential details. The company does not move with any urgency and one point I had to complain to my company about their lack of timely communication and overall professionalism. I would never recommend any require their employees to use this company. Relocating is already a stressful time ad this company does not make it any easier. In fact, they often add to the stress of moving. read more

BUYERS BEWARE: do not, and I repeat, do not purchase a home from these people. If you see the name Altair, run. They are hard to get a hold of. I was finally referred to their lawyer, BET MANSFIELD. She said that she doesn't care if I take her to court, she doesn't care that I am upset, that she won't be offended if she is taken to court because its her job to protect the company and its what she does, but if I take her to court, to just know what I am getting myself into because she wouldn't want me to take her to court and lose... I'm assuming she is threatening a counter claim. Long story short, this company sold us a house, advertised solar on the house, and then found out two years later with a lot of research on my part, that the solar NEVER worked. I even specifically asked about the solar and was still told that it was working solar and they provided a PGE bill- that was a year old! Regular home inspections do not cover solar inspections, apparently, and they have you sign the most horrible Addendum that you should not sign, refuse to sign or alter it to your liking. It basically says they are not liable for anything negligible, false, misrepresented, etc. I'm still hoping that CA law is on the buyer's side but we'll see after court. What a horrible company. read more

Terrible experience working with them. It's not about the consultant who works for them. It's about the solution they provide is just terrible. UI is super hard to use. Too many 3rd party companies are involved so no one is really responsible for anything. Their policy is not flexible and friendly for users at all. We had a very disappointing experience with Altair global. They do not care whether you really receive your services or not, i relocated and 2 months later my stuff wasn't shipped from my country and nobody bothered to let me know. consultants aren't familiar with the processes of the services they give, little to no response. zero accountability for their mistakes. I had to call and send several times each time i wanted to ask about something missing or something they were supposed to do and didn't. all you get is excuses. i'm very disappointed my company hires them for relocation services, they ruined my relocation experience. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Ignores all of your calls. Do not expect a call back either. They will wait weeks before emailing you back and ignore your concern. In my case I pointed out a mistake to them two months ago. They made a mistake on the accounting which I have been emailing them about for 2 months with concrete proof (receipts, the website confirming the airline policy). Instead of fixing the mistake after no less than 5 email exchanges back and forth, they continued the cashout with the incorrect, lesser total. Working with Altair has been the worst part of my relocation experience by far and I recommend you stay away as far as possible. Do not do business with these people as they are not honest and will ignore you and take your money. read more

The consultants at this company should be more knowledgeable about the policy before advising clients in order to prevent misunderstandings. Happened multiple times where I was promised a reimbursement, and then after submitting a request, they backtracked and explained they couldn't fulfill it, even though I was told otherwise. Cost me a lot of money I wouldn't have spent if they just told me the right thing. read more

Altair has been absolutely awful at every single turn of our relocation. Our first person assigned to our file never returned calls. We went on a house finding trip and were literally on a plane trying to figure out the rental car situation. We then asked to be reassigned. We're now at the stage of being awarded corporate housing (for our move that is literally next week). The vendor that they use has a broken website, so 24 hours later they emailed us our options. We have 2 dogs, one of which has anxiety, so hotels are not an option for us. We were sent 2 apartments and 2 hotels...so our options were an apartment that was feasible, an apartment with a really high pet deposit, or a hotel which we had already said wouldn't work. We chose one of the apartments. During that 24 hours where we were again waiting on everyone else, the apartment had already been leased. To say that we are stressed is an understatement. I called, spoke to my rep, got a ton of excuses, and she told me that she didn't have to take being yelled at (I didn't cuss, I didn't yell/ but I did raise my voice). When you have no idea where you will be living NEXT WEEK, that is bound to happen. This has been an absolute nightmare. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

Terrible, inept, pathetic, counter productive, a scourge to the real estate industry! These are just a few words to describe the performance of this horrific organization. My son and daughter's move and home sell has been botched by this organization since day one. They get paid nearly 40% of the listing agent's commission and therefor their chosen agents are either sub-standard or simply not interested in providing full service. You can't escape their contract without paying a ton in tax penalty. Look around your neighborhood - any Altair related listing will sit three times longer than regular listings. My son is now petitioning Boeing very aggressively to discontinue the corporate relationship with this moronic company. Recently relocated with Altair as the service provider. Problems from day one. Lack of attention to detail, communication and I'm afraid to see what my taxes will look like. Realtors and lenders on both sides of our move stated they will not work with clients using Altair in the future. I came close to turning down my offer of employment because of Altair. Never again. Not recommended. Once my move is complete, I will be speaking with my employers vender supply and services department and recommend they survey employees to gauge their experience with Altair. Avoid avoid avoid! Company full of incompetent people who lie to you and don't reply back for days. If your company offers you to relocate with them, DECLINE, for your own sanity. I've moved 7 times in my life (from my pocket) and this was the first time that I was moving with the company, needless to say I was very excited about this "premium service". WRONG. This has been my most stressful move by FAR. Not only did I have to deal with the normal logistics of moving, but I also had to deal with the incompetent staff at Altair Global, who promise you things and don't deliver. Their business is all sub-contractors who don't care about you and if there is a problem with those, Altair will gladly wash their hands because "there's nothing they can do". I could've done a better job myself and saved myself several grey hairs. I wish I could give them a zero star review. Read the rest of the reviews - they are all very accurate. read more

Not only was my experience with Altair less than satisfactory when it came to coordinating my move and temporary housing, the way they billed their services through my employer became an expensive TAX NIGHTMARE. Essentially, I found after the fact that I had to pay back taxes on all the extremely unnecessary, irrelevant and price inflated "services" they did, and did not, provide. As a single, childless person I had pay nearly 5-figure taxes on "spousal job search assistance" and "child school placement" ,realtor services and other BS that I did not use or were irrelevant to me. This was in addition to paying taxes on 30k+ worth of bloviated moving expenses when it definitely did not cost that much to move. All in all, not only did they mess up my moving process by sending my temp goods to long term storage and losing some of my stuff, the amount they billed my employer for my relocation resulted in me having to pay an exorbitant amount of additional taxes, to the point that I could have relocated myself without their help 3-4 times over and had it cost less. In hindsight, this explains why they were cagey about invoices and asked me at one point how I filed taxes and if I had a tax lawyer (at the time I didn't know how that was relevant to relocation and why it was a warning sign). IF YOUR EMPLOYER EVER OFFERS YOU A RELOCATION PACKAGE THROUGH THEM, REFUSE TO TAKE IT and just coordinate your own move yourself, or you will will definitely regret it come tax time. They're basically a scam operation that fleeces both employees and their employer by over-charging for crappy and/or unnecessary services operating under the assumption that you won't know you've been screwed till too late. read more

We moved to California from the midwest in summer 2014 and unfortunately my husband's company used Altair. It started off promising, but the closer we got to our move date, the worse it got. If you like uncertainty when you're moving long distances and poor communication about how much everything will cost from your budget, then Altair is for you. Getting the plane tickets and car reservation was the easiest part. But everything else felt like agony. We didn't find out what day the movers would be coming to pack and ship everything until a week before it happened. But even to get that appointment was hard, because they refused to set a date and then the first offer they gave us was actually after our flight to California. There must not be much communication across the company. We decided to ship our car. It was picked up a week after our flight. It then spent two weeks somewhere in Chicago before the company tried to deliver it...to the house in Chicago. Not California. So the car was late in arriving to CA, which meant using more moving budget on a rental car. Our household goods went to a warehouse in San Jose, since we didn't have an apartment yet in the Bay Area. When it came time to deliver the goods, getting just an estimate of a time window for delivery was like pulling teeth. Then they couldn't get all of our crates here and they had to go back to the warehouse, during rush hour, to pick the rest up. Even with that delay, a moving crate was actually lost for another month or two. There isn't a feedback process for reviewing the move, so voice your complaints to your HR dept and the company as frequently as you need to make this work. I would never use this company again. read more

BEWARE!!!!!! We bought a house that was acquired by this company and we discovered after closing that they grossly failed to disclose several extremely serious disclosures to us. My family of 6has relocated to another state with what we thought we be a better opportunity for us. They used Altair and made so many broken promises that we are continuing to come across as the process continues. Never trust this company! read more

Altair moved us from Roanoke, VA to Redwood City, CA in June 2015. Altair is now over 2 months late on giving us reimbursement for household goods arriving about two weeks late (over $2000), because the agent that worked with us wasn't aware the process of filing the claim had changed and she did it wrong. Our household goods arrived intact over two weeks later than guaranteed. Altair also was unable to locate my car (Altair used a contractor that in turn used a subcontractor) after they shipped it, although we asked for two weeks about it. Turns out, the subcontractor wrecked my car somehow (I'll never know the entire story) and was having it repaired, about 30 miles away from where I live. Altair thought it was in storage at that time, supposedly, as did we, but we were still not totally sure why we couldn't go get it and why they wouldn't tell us where our car was. read more

They basically don't care about you. They'll put you in a cabinet under a stair for a month and expect you don't complain. They'll sub-contract you furniture move to some company, which will then sub-contract to somebody else and will have no idea what's going on. Your furniture is in the wrong country and that the company helping you finding a new place won't find it for you in time to have your stuff delivered? Not their problem: you have to tie all these strings together for them and make them work. Will you need more time because of the previous problem? they'll happily recommend you to use airbnb to find your own accommodation. If you see some good reviews around: I'm sure they did provide good accomodations to these lucky people; the problem is when and if things go wrong; then you can't count on them to help you or fix things. read more

We were relocated from Winnemucca, Nevada, to St Louis, Missouri by Altair through my husband's new employer. Reading over the other complaints, I have to say my experience has been the complete opposite. The first day the movers were almost late, but arrived within the time frame we were given. They were professional and courteous. We did buy them lunch and tried to be as helpful as possible...which isn't much when they are instructed to pack every inch of your house. There were two movers. They worked efficiently and quickly - they had our 1300 sq ft house and detached garage/workspace completely packed in roughly 10 hours. We were given a 10 day window for when they could deliver our belongings once in Missouri, which was narrowed down once we got there. We were put in temporary housing (a pretty nice apartment - which we got to choose from 3 properties) for a month to give us time to find a home. Once everything was delivered, we only had 2 pieces of furniture that were damaged, and Altair just asked for pictures and prices to replace them. It was easy and we had a reimbursement check within 2 weeks. I would use them again in a heartbeat! We didn't have a choice - the company that hired my husband uses Altair, but we were quite happy with our experience. read more

Altair was the relocation company that was assigned to me for my move from Michigan to Seattle. Being just out of college, I had no knowledge of he moving process. I expected Altair to be helpful, but they were the complete opposite. When it came to y household goods being moved, I originally received a phone call from my contact, who asked what day I wanted everything picked up. I told him I had no idea but I needed my stuff there by July 3rd. No pick up date was scheduled during that phone call. A week later, I received an email asking for my Seattle address and what date I wanted my stuff picked up. I waited a few days because I was closing on an apartment and I wanted to be sure I was giving him the right address. When I called back, I told him I had an address and that I got into my apartment July 1st and could my goods get there by then. He just said sure when do you want them picked up. Again, I had no knowledge of how long it takes things to be shipped across the country, so I was pretty much counting on him to give me an idea of when they should be picked up based on my move-in date. My original contact at Altair (I was given at least three different people) had suggested the last week of June, so after my household goods contact absolutely refused to pick a day for me, I chose June 24th (Monday of the last week). A few days later, I get an email that says my stuff will be packed the 24-25 and loaded the 26th. Delivery spread was July 1-15. Now this is not what I wanted at all. I told him from the beginning July 3rd. Today is July 1st, and my goods haven't even been picked up from the wharehouse in Michigan that they have been sitting in for the last week. And I haven't even included what happened with shipping my car. To put a long story short, they sent two different carriers to my house because they were so unorganized. This company has no right to be called the best relocation company in the country, and I would highly suggest no business use them. read more

Update: I was relocated a second time by the same company and was again referred to Altair for my reimbursement. Although the first experience was godawful, the second time went much smoother. My coordinator this time was very responsive, and the reimbursements came back in a far more reasonable time and with a much smoother process than my original move. I gave them only one star for their initial move, but have to say the second move was closer to 4-stars, so I'll settle on a 3 star for the two combined experiences. read more

This company is trash. They lie and force everyone involved in the relocation to pay them outrageous fees in the thousands of dollars. The do nothing but interfere, never answer the phone, lose paperwork, and slow everything down. They are an absolute scam. They make the client who is moving think they offer some kind of service, they do nothing but cause problems, and they illegally ask the lender and real estate agents to pay them thousands of dollars in fees to do their own jobs when they are already working with the client. I have them in a recorded call stating they would try to criminally overstep my agency agreement with a client and force them to use someone who would pay them and force the client to "just buy a different house" since they can't make an offer on the ones I've already shown unless it's through me. I am going to report them for this to the attorney general and real estate commission boards. read more

My experience with Altair was a positive one! I had zero issues during my entire relocation process. No damaged items and everything was on time or early. I have read the many negative reviews on this site, but I had the complete opposite experience. My Altair relocation specialist Karen assured me that she would do everything possible to make sure things went smoothly with my relocation, which she did. My move came up quickly and needed to be coordinated in a short amount of time. I was impressed by the close communication I had with my representative. I chose the company that I wanted to use to move my home and car and Altair was able to work with these companies. This allowed me to use a moving and auto transport company that I had found to be highly rated and that I felt comfortable transporting my belongings with. Altair put me up in a beautiful fully furnished apartment for over a month and with a rental car while I was getting settled into my new place. This was awesome. The reimbursement process was seamless. I kept close track of all itemized receipts and proof of payments and submitted as instructed, and I had my reimbursement within a week! One thing that I can see as possibly frustrating with Altair is that you have no way to contact the different departments directly. Everything goes through your relocation specialist which can take more time. My relocation specialist was on top of things and helped me quickly with anything I needed. i am a real estate broker in Austin who had a client referred to me by a past client. I knew they were a relocation, but I was told that the relocation was an in-firm transaction. I was finally contacted by these people a couple of days before this client came to town. I was sent a "relocation referral package" from one of their Relocation Specialists and found that they wanted 35% of my commission as a "referral fee" when they didn't even send me the client. I tried to negotiate with them---mind you the client was coming to town on Mother's Day to house hunt and tour the Austin market. I offered to pay them 15% and she pretty much hung up the phone on me. In this market, where there are multiple buyers for every home, a 35% fee is an antiquated business model. She basically yelled at me "THIS IS HOW WE GET PAID"...meaning her, who sits at a desk, while I would do all the actual work finding this family a home--and then have to do their copious amounts of paperwork. I don't think these people cared at ALL about their client--just about getting paid. They ended up taking the client to another firm, even though the client had wanted to work with me. Guess I know who was first and foremost in their mind---THEM. I could tell this was a sloppy, greedy firm from the get-go. Companies who send their relocations to this company should think again. read more

Finally received my reimbursement! Good luck to everyone and continue to be persistent!

My experience with Altair has been awful. They are slow to respond, if they respond at all. I've received acknowledgement and "confirmation" of expense payouts that have never actually gone through, and when calling up to investigate, it turns out they were never processed. One such payout took 2 consultants and then an escalation to management before any action was taken. The manager himself rang me and told me the payment had been processed and I would receive it within 2 days. 2 days later when nothing had come through I contacted him again, he replied to me telling me they were going to process it that day! Such a dishonest company. Would never use them again. read more
