Lincoln can speak a bunch of different languages and makes the class really fun and easy to learn. He teaches with strict grammar, so he's ensuring that we are learning properly. I learn best with hands-on methods, so in-person classes work best for me. The classes at AIL are in-person, with the option to join virtually, if necessary. The class materials can all be found in the ortal, which has proven to be a very helpful resource. I absolutely recommend Atlanta Language Institute if you learn well in-person. They offer many languages, too!

Each student is challenged to their own ability level, but in a way that is beneficial for the entire class. They take a practical approach to teaching + learning where all the prompts, responses, and casual conversations that are naturally spoken throughout the class, are both typed and recorded so we're able to listen and/or watch the videos to review, as well as print or save the .pdf of notes. This genuine environment has created classes of students that are dedicated to learning and supporting one another and have a lot of fun in doing so! I encourage you to contact them and try out a class since you're reading this review!

Our Area Representatives (we've had a couple as we have moved or they have moved) are in contact monthly and the few times we've had any issues (teens are teens no matter what country they are from lol) have been great at giving advice. We've learned a lot about other cultures as we've hosted from 7 different countries! And in our region the larger group gets together a few times each year, letting our exchange kids hang out with other exchange students and we get to meet up with other host parents. We will continue hosting through ASSE and highly recommended them.

Would not recommend. This was our first time hosting and the coordination doesn't seem to be there…read more We were told a student needed an emergency placement and no there were no other families available and this was an unpaid placement. We spoke to the student and her local coordinator and thought we would be a great match. Because it was midway into the school year, it took a lot of legwork from myself and the local ASSE volunteer (who was really great) by getting my family approved to calling and writing letters to schools to have her accepted. After many hurdles, we finally got her accepted into local school school. But, then the next day, we were told she is being sent to another family because her region was prioritized. Even though we were the first to answer the call and made it clear we all the work we'd been doing to help her. The student was also shocked as she was told they were waiting on school approval to then, being told they bought a ticket for her and that she leaves in two days to somewhere else. They should have at least checked in about what they were doing and spoke to us about where we are at before making decisions. This was handled so poorly. The student was already having a difficult time then had to experience this whiplash. As for the student, we found out about her need to find a host family through her own postings. ASSE did not post anything public about her. This likely made her feel unsupported and in fear of being sent home. ASSE really needs to work out these kinks so not to hurt the students and waste people's time and effort. To keep the host family, the volunteer staff, and student in the dark, while they work hard to make things happen only to place the student somewhere else due to convenience, shows what their priorities are.

Classes offered through the school are held on the Atlanta International School's campus, with other organizations offering classes there too (I heard Spanish in some of the classrooms as I squeezed in steps during a break). I really like how much the administrative staff and teachers care about the students, from the very young to older ones. The teachers are engaging and each email that AT and I have sent to Michel Lopez (Treasurer), one of the two people that are listed as contacts for the school on the website, has been promptly and courteously answered. There are many children's classes offered and AT and I love the attention that Miss Mina displays during her Bébé et Moi class. From what I've observed in the little one's classes and my first one, there is an emphasis on immersive learning, which I find to be the best approach to acquiring language skills. The kiddos learn traditional French children's songs and in little AT's class, he's learning the names of colors, animals, and numbers, which is perfect. He observes more than anything but going to these classes has leapfrogged his talking abilities. There are books and DVDs available to borrow to keep the French learning happening on days other than Saturday (Samedi). Besides those, another fun (and weight-gaining) benefit is the school sells viennoiseries (baked goods, like butter and almond croissants, pain aux raisins, pain au chocolat, and chausson aux pommes) from beloved and authentic Douceur de France! First come, first serve. This is a great way to start or end class (or refuel at the break of adult 2-hour classes). From our experience thus far, AT and I see our family being involved with the school for many years to come. Maybe it can make a Francophone of me after all?

I was told 300 and called them up to confirm and for an explanation of what to expect. The not so friendly Renee told me the 300.00 included 1 month of lessons for 45 mins each and 1/week reherersal. Fine. How do I pay I asked? "Ummmm..... well you can just send me your info in an emai.....l I guess....."WTF? okay..... No thanks, I will just pay in person when I come. When I arrived Renee wasn't there and apparently neither was anyone else who could process my payment. Not only that -they were not ready for my daughter either and suggested that I take off and that she "hang out" there for about an hour and half with them. She's 8!! ok...... Surely they mean that there are some other kids perhaps in the same situation and they have some activities planned for them or something along those lines. I quickly figured out that was not the case as I watched the instructors skip out to lunch. Since no else said anything else to me I decided to sit and wait with my daughter until they returned and made time for her....A few days later I checked my bank account only to find that school of rock had charged me double. #$%^&*(. And when I called and spoke with the owners Mike and Renee, they cheerfully responded with sarcasm and reassured me again that "WE DONT GIVE A SHIT!!!!!" AND just to make sure that I got the message Mike sent me a cheerful email..with all exclaimation points..that he PERSONALLY DOESN"T GIVE 2 SHITS!!! . My next issue with these assclowns. After talking to my daughter I realized she was not receiving the private lessons I was paying for....so I emailed the owners. Who again treated me with zero respect. Ok, i get it. You are in a prime buckhead location, making money hand over fist and DONT GIVE A SHIT but really...that's just not cool. I emailed Mike AGAIN for my refund and this time he didn't respond with all all excamation points!! hey! Christina! We don't give a shit!!! So maybe I will get my well deserved refund. In the meantime, all the instructors seem nice and my mini me likes coming here..which makes the fact that owners don't care about customer service all the more incredibly frustating.

This was all learned within a week. What?! The kids all show each other great love within the school. I have seen my son so proud of himself this last year, which in turn, makes me all the prouder. Payments are easily automatic withdrawals from my account. . I'm so thankful for the instructors that run this place! I can see my son staying here until he ages out at 18.
