No one I worked with at AAA was anything but friendly, courteous, warm, and respectful. It all started when I emailed Fred to inquire about rates for a van rental for my wedding day. He promptly responded to my questions and we scheduled an appointment for me to come in to look over the vehicle options and pay the deposit. I was surprised at how small an operation they're running, but they were honestly far more professional than some of the larger limo services I contacted. We opted for a 14-passenger van to transport the wedding party from our hotel to our venue. Since the price and flexibility Fred was able to offer us was exactly what we were hoping for, we actually paid in full. We got our receipt and confirmation of pickup times, and that was that. The day of the wedding, our driver was prompt and friendly. He looked very sharp and professional in his suit, and made sure that everyone was comfortable getting into and out of the vehicle. My husband, the groomsmen, ushers, and his father were picked up first. We had originally planned for me to be picked up approximately 45 minutes later, but realized day-of that we had to leave earlier because of some logistical things with the venue. Not a problem for our driver who was back and ready to pick me up at the earlier time. While the rest of the bridal party exited the van to prepare for the ceremony, the driver kept me company for a few minutes until it was time for me to emerge. He chatted with me and helped me relax (and laugh!), which I am super grateful for. Deeply unprofessional. A GPS, a driver's license and a black Suburban does not a limo service…read moremake. Despite encouraging glimmers of competence at the beginning, this company's truly impressive ineptitude cost us several hundred dollars and massive amounts of frustration. We had a packed schedule with multiple clients in two cities on one day. Trying to make a tight commuter flight connection to meet our biggest client, we ditched the usual rental car in favor of a car service in order to make everything work. Instead, we had a fiasco. I explained the address to our driver days in advance of our scheduled pickup. Because the pickup was at a Fortune 100 company and one of the biggest employers in this town, their only street address is the intersection of two roads. He seemed to grasp that at the time. I even texted him the address and company name to make sure, repeating all along that we NEEDED to be on time and that we were relying on him. He assured me all would go well - he'd be there 10 minutes early in fact. The day before the pickup he even called me to confirm the time and location. Nice touch! Our meet ended 15 minutes early, we hightailed it out the the entrance where we'd agreed to meet. There were three other Lincolns (apparently it's not actually impossible to find), but not our guy. I called him to let him know we were ready, he reassured me that he would be there in "5 minutes". Little did I know he was utterly lost. I called again in 10 minutes, now at our official pickup time, and he asked ME for directions. I pulled out my iPhone to help guide him but serious language issues meant that he couldn't provide enough intelligible information for me to help find him. He hung up and I called back a little later to hear that he was getting from help from someone I assumed for a moment to be his dispatcher. Nope, it was a guy on the side of the road that he asked to program the intersection into his GPS. Seriously? Assured yet again that he'd be there in 10 minutes, we waited. Finally, in a panic we called a taxi but he'd take 15 minutes, by which time I assumed our guy would show up. (I'd made the mistake of giving him my credit card info and expected he's charge me the ~$100 anyway if we took another taxi.) So we made the mistake of trusting his estimate when we still had time to take corrective action and decided to wait another 10 minutes. A number of frustrating calls ensued where he misrepresented his proximitiy repeatedly. Finally he showed up 40 minutes after our appointed time, raving about how "that guy" on the street gave him the wrong directions. Hoping we might still make our flight and client dinner, we asked him to step on it and I "confirmed" that he knew the way to the airport. It's a minor airport, but you may have heard of it. It's called Newark International. Wrong again. This guy was on a major highway that would have necessitated one (ONE!) turn to make it to the airport. Instead he held his GPS out of sight below his seat so we wouldn't ridicule him, and attempted to follow it blindly. And proceeded to make multiple wrong turns. He even started to get on the main freeway going the south instead of north, until we shrieked at him. Nice. Steaming mad when we arrived at the airport after our flight departed, he asked me to sign the cc receipt. I asked that instead he call me to figure out a reasonable fare after I had calmed down. Needless to say, we missed our flight and our meeting. The next day I texted him and he offered a $5 discount! After pointing out that he had in fact cost us several hundred dollars, he might want to be a bit more gracious, he offered a $10 discount. Ugh! So showing up late isn't enough to warrant a horrid review, but lying about how close you are and simply being unable to use Google maps on a phone is. Angel's just isn't up to the job. Do yourself a favor and rely on someone else.
