I was never informed at the appointment that this would occur or that the billing would be handled differently than what was scheduled. In my opinion, this is fraudulent billing -- patients should never be misled about the nature of a visit or the financial consequences, and should not learn of unexpected charges months later with no opportunity to correct or question it. I will be reporting this practice to the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners and the Nevada Division of Insurance.
