I followed up multiple times via email asking for a status update, and each time I was told my return was being worked on and that they'd call me when it was finished. Tax day came and went. No call. No finished return. I had to scramble and file my own taxes at the last minute on that night. It completely defeated the purpose of hiring a tax professional. To make matters worse, I emailed them afterward asking what happened and have received zero response. Complete lack of accountability and professionalism. I verify the appointment today, take off work, there is an advertisement on the window for the very thing that no one inside knows anything about - and when I show up they tell me I have to reschedule. This was my first time using H&R Block for my business taxes. Making the appointment alone took two days, which already felt longer than expected. My appointment was at 1:30 pm and I was told my taxes would be ready around 2:00 to 2:30 pm. I never received a call with an update, so I called the office myself around 2:30 to check on the status since that was the time frame I was given. I was told it would take a few more hours. I had no issue with the extra time. The problem was the lack of communication. The tax professional I worked with was kind and generous and tried to help me as much as she could. I appreciated her help and professionalism. The issue I had during this experience was with the front desk. When I arrived to pick everything up, the front desk employee greeted me with "who are you?" What made that confusing was she clearly knew who I was because she did not even look anything up to confirm I was a client. Then she said, "first of all, I already spoke to you three times today. If you call or come into the office again we're going to push your taxes back." This was said even though I was only checking on the status at the time I had originally been told they would be ready. Being told my work would be delayed for asking about the status of my own taxes felt completely unprofessional. This was my first time doing business taxes with H&R Block and the experience was disappointing. People trust this company with important financial information. Basic communication and respectful customer service should be the standard.
