The Brampton Canadian Blood Service clinic opened in May 2022. Unlike other donor centres, this…read morelocation focuses exclusively on Plasma donation. The general donation process is still similar, such as screening, questionnaires, hemoglobin test, and so on. The difference is that your blood gets returned to you after the machine extracts the plasma from the blood. You can read more about this process on the website. The process could take longer but you also get to donate more often (weekly), as opposed to 56 days waiting period for blood. This location was excellent. Aside from the brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities, the staffs and volunteers were enthusiastic and helpful. As a first-time donor, you get some souvenirs/swags and you truly feel you're appreciated to come in for a donation. The staffs patiently explain the process and how it could be different than a blood donation, and were careful during the donation set up. Near the end of donation, I felt quite dizzy and they immediately ensured I had wet towels and liquids, before I was discharged with lots of snacks. Overall, it was a pleasant donation process that makes you want to revisit - after all, you're helping save lives.
