I only met the owner by acccident as she was walking around with her daughter , my husband or son never met anyone here. Feels a little dry and empty. Throughout the day kids yelling was pretty loud, at night no noises. The room is very basic with no decor or style what so ever. The blanket on my sons bed was more of a table cloth and we were lucky we broguht our travel blankets for the airplane with us. Towels were also for 2 people not three. Clean , safe, cheap. No amenities here and it felt a little like we invated their private space. We went for lunch and dinner to the hotel across where we stayed in the past.....it was ok for one night but no reason to come back. Sorry

The facility has been owned by the same family for several hundred years. Though the building began its life as a family farm (with living quarters and the barn essentially one structure), it has been expanded and renovated into a thoroughly modern guest house. We had the privilege of staying at Hotel Dagnhof while visiting Walchsee for a good friend's wedding. He was also kind enough to make all our arrangements with his uncle (the proprietor of the Hotel Dagnhof) so I can't comment on the any aspect of the booking process. Since our whole family was attending the wedding we were housed in the "Holiday Suite." A kitchen, dining area, living room, powder room, and a spacious deck make up the first floor of the first floor of the suite. There are two bedrooms with full baths on the second level, and a third bedroom & bath on the third level. A "spa" room with a hot tub and panoramic a view of the mountains is also on level three. It is a perfect getaway spot for a family or group of 4-6 (or perhaps a few more -- our room had one king bed -- I don't remember whether the other rooms had one or two beds). Everything met our expectations. It is not a luxurious place by any means. Expect to be greeted by the hotel's dogs who roam the grounds and hallways at will, or the friendly calico cat who will walk right into your room if you leave a window or the patio door ajar. But it is comfortable, neat and clean, with all the modern amenities one expects in a Tirollean guest house -- including a beautiful, million dollar view of the Alps surrounding Walchsee.

The balcony overlooked the fortress (Festung) and is large enough for a recliner a table and two chairs. The bathroom is modern, large with two sinks and a huge walk-in shower. Comfortable bed, large closet. The bells of St. Vitus and other churches welcome the day and bid good night. The breakfast is open till 1000 and is great. Local meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, bacon, sweets, local jams, honey, espresso, cappuccino, etc. A cocktail bar is attached and a great Hoff-Brau restaurant around the corner. If you want to relax, the fourth floor has a wet sauna, dry sauna and steam room along with a small gym. A kick-back area and snacks included. Too bad there was a heat wave. The location is perfect for day trips. A few hours OR LESS to Munchen, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Berchesgaden, Garmisch, Tratzberg, etc. The garage is right under the hotel and if you're tired of getting ripped off by parking fees, it's a breath of fresh air. It's nine euros a day only if you leave. Nine euros if you park and leave the car for the entire stay. Ok, so the only reason it's not five stars is, as an American and it was HOT, I would have loved a fridge. I understand though, the hotel is "green energy" the card key turns the power on and off. No power on when you leave. It's ok though cold drinks and ice are hard to find in Europe lol.

Fritz and Christa are great hosts and have become friends. Their daughters are also helpful with English and techology. The breakfast was the best we had on our vacation! It is also served at 7 am which enabled us to get out the door early for hiking. The restaurant cuisine is authentic Austrian Tiroler Kost and excellent! We had the best Tiramisu ever for our farewell dinner May 30! After hiking all day the good beds provide a sound nights' sleep so we can enjoy the next day! The beds are OK - if you can live with the strange Bavarian habit of separate mattresses and quilts. Breakfast is excellent and service is very efficient and friendly. One plus to mention: you can sleep with the door/window to the terrace wide open: it is absolutely quiet. It is also a nice place to sit out on the terrace and it probably offers the best price/quality rate for food. Although primarily Bavarian, you may spot a few lighter plates on the menu (salads, omelet with 'pfifferlingen', matjes, smoked salmon). The chairs are a pain though. You will understand what I mean when you sit on them for more than 30 minutes..
