For a long time I already wanted to try this hot Bikram Yoga. I am glad I did!…read more For starters: this is really a good Yoga Asana workout. But I felt a bit like I was in the army: very strict training. It is definitely effective exercise if you can withstand the heat. I have been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for quite a while, even in warm rooms, but not with a temperature as high as 40°C! Well, I had a really big towel over my mat, and at the end it was completely soaked in a pool of my own sweat. I have to be honest and tell that I was a bit dizzy in the end of the class, but with a few deeps breaths I felt better. They say this gets better once you get more used to the heat. Let's see... The place itself is really nice, but really Spartan: this is no fancy yoga studio with Buddhas, Shivas, etc... It is just the heated yoga room, the dressing rooms, and the reception area with some sofas. What is really strange is that there is carpet on the floor of the yoga room. Ah... and there are also mirrors on the walls! There you will need 2 big towels, 1 yoga mat, and a big bottle of water. If you don't want to carry a lot, they provide all the stuff also on site (for a fee, of course). I really did like the experience and will go again. But I will enjoy it as workout, not as Yoga. It is fun!

Visiting Munich from CA and needed a yoga fix. Found this amazing studio just a 10 minute walk…read morefrom our hotel (Residence Inn Munich East). If you've ever done Bikram or hot yoga this is the place for you. The space is modern & immaculent. Staff are super friendly. My instructor was Elnura and she taught the class in English...lucky me! She provided simple instruction, was encouraging & not overly chatty. The class is w/o music, which after all the city noise was truly refreshing. Paid 20 euros for a week of classes = 10. Don't think I'll get 10 classes in, but still a great price if I only do 3-4 classes! Don't worry about mats, towels & water. They have all your supplies for a fee. Afterward, sit & enjoy some hot tea (free) with your fellow students. Highly recommend Bikram Yoga Station for a rejuvenating lift when traveling. Namaste'

I'm new to the area and looking for my go-to yoga studio. This facility was gorgeous. Teacher did…read moresome hands on adjustments and did some English translation although the vast majority of the class was taught in German. I took a basic vinyasa flow class (power vinyasa flow is my fav) and I was disappointed in the pace. I felt like it moved really slow and it wasn't the sweaty workout I was looking for. I'm sure if I understood German I would feel enlightened, but I don't, so the ADD in me took over as I was constantly scanning the room trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. The inversions at the end of class were fun. I may try another class at a more advanced level since I live so close, but my first impression is I need to keep searching for the right fit.

My colleagues came to Germany two weeks after me and were all asking me what I'd been doing the whole time because I "looked great". That was after just two weeks of yoga! The classes were challenging (in a good way!) and I have yet to find find another studio that corrected me like they did. I also have yet to find a more beautiful and relaxing studio than this. It's been four years and this place is still the best yoga studio I've ever been to.

I love yoga, and I love doing it here (punkt!) ok, but why?!…read moreThe teachers are excellent, I haven't had a bad one yet. This is so important in yoga as more and more people are doing it (I am also certified to teach, but not in Jivamukti style). The teachers really teach, ie, you learn how to do poses safely and effectively and it's fun. They provide a safe haven, a workout, a 'lesson in life' and more, it seems like whatever you are looking for in a yoga class you will find it. This changes from day to day, sometimes you need more power, sometimes you need more of a spiritual class, sometimes you just want to have fun. Strange, but you can get any and all of these in one class, depending on what you seek. It is important to for you to take responsibility for your safety and go to the class which is appropriate for you (eg, you better be really ready for an 'Open' class!) I still like going to Basic classes sometimes to kind of 'relearn' some poses. I emphasize safety here because I know people who have hurt themselves at Jivamukti as they do tend to move fast and it's so important to know what you are doing while you are moving through the poses. I've been going to Antje lately at various levels and I think she instructs quite well. I think the rooms are nicer here than at Wörthstrasse, but they are all fully equipped with quality mats and props. It's just a bit expensive, so for me it's a treat to go and I always feel so refreshed and cleansed (despite some sweaty Open classes!:)

I was at Jivamukti Yoga Center for the "David Williams - Ashtanga Yoga for the Rest of your Life"…read moreWorkshop. *About the yoga studio: They are very well equipped with good quality yoga mats, blocks, blankets, etc. The studio is very well planned and functional. The rooms are spacious, and the room temperature is adequate. The dressing rooms are big and have lockers. A fun fact is that the toilets are unisex, which is very useful when the amount of men and women is unbalanced. There is also a small shop where you can buy some yoga items such as clothes and yoga mats. *About the workshop: I can for sure say that these four workshop days were ones of the best I had this year. The workshop was even more fulfilling than I had anticipated. David Williams explains, proposes, and puts in to practice a yoga that is fun, without pain, and relaxed. Definitely something you really can and want to do for the rest of your life. Fundamentally because it is wonderful to practice it! His goal in this 4-day workshop was to transmit as much knowledge as possible to us, by telling us everything about Ashtanga Yoga and its Practice, which he would tell someone he would never see again in his lifetime. David explains Ashtanga Yoga the way he learned from Shri K. Pattabhi Jois. Besides, he shared with us all the insights and discoveries he made because of his 40 years of daily practice. For him the most important aspects are the breathing and Mula Bandha (root lock). Every Asana in the First Series was explained in a way that it is effective, comfortable and safe. He said often: "if it hurts, you are doing it wrong". He also insisted that Yoga should be done in a way that it is energizing and endorphin generating, what cannot be achieved when you feel pain. During the practice, due to the deep breathing, you oxygenate your blood and your whole body more than you will do the rest of your day. He also told us several stories about his life adventures and this all how these contributed to him finding Ashtanga Yoga. The history of Ashtanga Yoga was told too. It was very interesting to learn where this type of yoga comes from and its lineage. We also did practice, under his guidance, a very complex Pranayama, which he said it was too complicated to be explained in detail in the small amount of time that we had. At the end, he even taught and encouraged everyone to practice a simplified version of the Second Series. After this workshop, I am really daily practicing Ashtanga Yoga for the rest of my life! :D
