Still I was very surprised when what I thought would be a grilled tofu burger with a reasonable amount of veggie topping turned out to be basically a hot dog with fried onions in a bun. Perhaps it's the German style of foodtruck serving, I'm used to rather more effort from our Swedish foodtrucks. Although for that low price I guess I was overly optimistic. That said it was actually a rather tasty snack (because obviously it was far from a proper filling lunch) - the bread was fresh and nice, the tofu sausage good and the fried onion topping too. I really appreciate the fact that the tofu is organic and locally produced at the Taifun factory, but I think they would win by serving some larger dishes with lots of veggies for a proper, satisfying plantbased meal.

I ended up buying some sodas, cookies and skincare products only. And their cleverly designed bag in organic cotton with two types of handles, for the shoulder as well as shorter to carry in hand. Im Gemüseabteil ist fast alles regional und es gibt viele kleine Kooperativen die den Laden direkt beliefern. Ich achte auf Fair gehandelte Produkte und bekomme hier unter anderem die besten Cashews und Schokolade die in Ghana hergestellt ist. Da bleiben statt 2000 Euro für die Tonne Kakao 10.000 Euro fürs fertige Produkt im Land! Außerdem ist das Team frisch und witzig und immer für einen Scherz zu haben.

The Münsterplatz Food Market…read morewas one of our first stops and was also the landmark to go back to the bus at the end of our free time. It is located next to the Freiburg Cathedral. This marketplace had so many local vendors. Fresh fruits and veggies. Coffee. Baked goods. Coffee. Honey. Sandwiches. Pastries. Beautiful flowers. And of course, pretzels. A nice way to start and end our day in Freiburg.

Every day (except Sunday), Freiburg has a fabulous open-air market in the Münsterplatz ( the plaza…read morearound the big cathedral ) The biggest and nicest market day is Saturday! You'll see local goodies like honey, cheeses, breads & baked goods. There are also flowers, fruits, veggies & food stalls everywhere the eyes looks - colorful, fresh & one of Freiburg's "must-indulge" attractions for sure. We didn't know about this market & had just eaten a huge breakfast at our hotel, so there was no tasty treat indulgence however, we did go crazy at a particular stall selling local honey Blue Cornflower & Rapeseed Flower honeys were ours for the taking. Also tried an Oak Tree honey that was interesting as well & had we had the luggage space, I could have gone totally crazy as she had all kinds of honey products like soaps & candles in addition to outrageously scrumptious raw honey Farmers' stalls are piled high with fresh produce and the cheese stalls were too tempting w/ their local yet diverse selections. Food stalls see tourists & locals alike, lining up to buy meaty, grilled sausages or freshly baked rolls & sweet buns. My best advice to you is come early, come hungry, & bring lots of cash!
