Loved the walking tour that I took in Freiburg with Viking cruises. The Münsterplatz Food Market…read morewas one of our first stops and was also the landmark to go back to the bus at the end of our free time. It is located next to the Freiburg Cathedral. This marketplace had so many local vendors. Fresh fruits and veggies. Coffee. Baked goods. Coffee. Honey. Sandwiches. Pastries. Beautiful flowers. And of course, pretzels. A nice way to start and end our day in Freiburg.

A fantastic street market that surrounds the Freiburger Münster church and offers everything from…read moresausages and cheese to flowers and neuer süsser, a carbonated wine that tastes like a fizzy glass of grape juice. I was there around noon on a Thursday, so I don't know if the market is a daily or weekly event, but it does seem to be packed up and moved out by 3pm.

Definitely something for everyone. (Check them out on Instagram, their locations are all super trendy and fun!) We stuck to baked goods & pastries (especially Black Forest Cake because we were essentially in the Black Forest, although here it's called Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte and Bavarian pretzels, because, well, when in Rome). We also had a sesame croissant, pretty pink donuts, and a crumble bar too. We were all supper satisfied! The cake was moist and filled with alcohol soaked cherries. The pretzel was perfectly salted and the croissant was glistening with butter, fluffy and flaky. We also grabbed some of their incredible breads and donuts for the road. They did not disappoint either. The espresso, which complimented the goods perfectly was strong and delish. The fresh apple tea iced was incredible and memorable!! I would love to know how to recreate it at home. It was so naturally sweet even unsweetened and felt like it should be served warm on a fall day, but was perfect and refreshing, served iced on a hot summer day. There's tons of towering Sammie's, parfaits, fruit cups and salads. Honestly, such a variety. I loved the jam and bread cutting station! The place was packed on a weekday for a morning rush, but the line moved swiftly and once we were seated outside we relaxed. Free lot parking. Cash only. Cannot recommend enough!

Not sure why this is listed as a "toy store" but this is a CANDY STORE. and a great one at that!…read moreVery friendly service with a large selection (mostly jellies). Some unusual ones (at least compared to American candy stores.) Got a mix of gummy bears (can never resist), frogs, and marshmallows. All quite good! A bit pricy - that probably owes more to the Euro vs the dollar than anything else - but worth it.
