We were on tour to the awesome, maze-like city of Toledo, the old capital city of Spain. We decided to come here for lunch after seeing some of their set lunch deals. Incredible 12€ per person for a 3-course meal and beverage! Our tour guide mentioned these deals are common throughout Spain, especially in the 1pm to 4pm time frame.
I ordered the melon and jamon for appetizer - incredibly sweet (and quite large) melon slices and nice salty ham. It tasted somewhat like a honeydew-cantaloupe hybrid. My wife got the paella - not bad for the price. Mussels didn't seem fresh but they had other goodies like squid and clams. For that price, it's a steal!
For entrees we both ordered the pork carcamusas, which is a local Toledo specialty. Its basically a hearty braised pork and sausage stew that would have gone well over steamed rice! Like a mild chili with large chunks of meat. It came with fries that were very crispy and not oily.
For desserts I got the apple tart while the wife got the flan. Both were good but the flan is the winner here -it was topped with a darker caramel sauce, almost fudge-like in nature.
Overall an excellent restaurant in Toledo with great service. Probably one of our best meals in terms of quality:price ratio. read more
