Despite the IRS providing official disaster relief for businesses in my area--Sheffield, Alabama--due to Hurricane Helene, the preparer claimed I owed late penalties and insisted there was no way around it. I did my own follow-up and contacted the IRS directly. They confirmed my return was considered timely filed due to the disaster relief window (September 22, 2024 - May 1, 2025), and all penalties and interest were removed.
