He has recommended a follow up, but given all the other aches i'm feeling now my back has settled, this is a good idea. At each session, my physio would massage the problem areas and then show me exercises I could complete that would help ease the pain. I've got to admit the massages didn't do much, but what was helpful was the ongoing exercises. My physio wrote down the exercises that were specific to my back problems, and this provided a long term solution to my pain. If you're an existing customer with Queen St Physiotherapy, they offer birthday vouchers that you can use for any of their treatments. I used mine for a deep tissue massage and the masseuse was amazing; she pulverised muscles I didn't even know existed--best massage I've ever had and I'd be going regularly if treatments weren't so pricey.
