Allspice is my dream spice store come true! For a spice lover like me, this place makes me so happy. When you walk in you immediately inhale the wonderful aroma of spices. I'm sure you'll find every spice you could ever want and more. They have everything from the more common ones like cinnamon and basil to the more exotic and hard-to-find ones like Baharat and Za'atar. I can't believe the unique variety and selection they have. Can you believe they have six different kinds of paprika?! They even have a Gusto Pizza Co. seasoning blend that I'm going to have to try next. The quality and taste of their spices is amazing. I've been impressed with every single one I've gotten so far. And their prices are so reasonable. I can't believe how little they charge for a local shop. They even beat Penzey's prices. Stumbled upon this shop in the East Village and I'm so glad I did! What a great selection of spices! Anything you could think of in various sizes and combinations. Look for spice combinations with suggested pairings or recipes. The back of the shop offers olive oils and flavored vinegars. The front also had a very interesting selection of maple syrups and I got myself a variety pack that I'm excited to try on some pancakes. The staff are friendly and so helpful. This is a terrific little store in the East Village! I'd been here one other time before this visit but it had been quite a while. I'm so glad I returned as I found some awesome little gifts for Christmas, among the other things I came in for. I browsed the aisles a few times to make sure I saw everything. I needed help and asked a young man for help. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and really a great ambassador for the store. I can't wait to have my hot chocolate and see what others think of their items. I rarely give 5 stars but this store actually deserves 6. It was packed full of friendly employees, respectful shoppers and a nice scent of different flavors. I enjoyed my 30 minute stay and got wished Merry Christmas before I left. Great East Village find! I just wandered in one afternoon, drawn in by its nice scent. At first, I thought, "Oh cool, spices," but then I realized the value of this shop! They have a great variety of baking ingredients like cinnamon sticks and vanilla, cooking spices and herbs. They also have an area in the back where you can taste test flavored olive oil and vinegar. Spice Haul: House seasoning blend, Quebec Steak Seasoning, Curry powder (hot), Greek Seasoning blend, Italian Seasoning Blend. Their blends make me excited to get some cooking done! There were some other cool mixes that I didn't get like Truffle Parmesan, Island Jerk, and Rotisserie. This place is Outstanding!! I was a line cook for about 10 years and this store has everything you could ever want. I bought blackening seasoning, freeze dried shallots, pesto infused olive oil and its to die for. They have several infused oils and Balsamic vinegar to actually try BEFORE you buy. I also bought some Mexican Oregano, which is more fragrant and really packs a punch with flavor. The staff is very friendly and are at the ready for any questions you may have. I was just walking around east village and stumbled into this place. I could smell the spices from the outside and saw lots of people there so I decided to stop in. This place is pretty awesome. They have every spice you can think of. Not only that but their selection of infused olive oil is huge. You can sample it also so that is very nice. They also have a huge selection of vinegar. This place has all the spices. No, really, they've got everything. They've got all the spices you need and a few zillion more you'll really, really want when you get there and check them out. Ooh la la! So far, our picks have included garlic powder, Mexican oregano, basil leaf, whole rosemary, celery salt, celery seed, wasabi powder, guajillo chile powder, whole lavender flowers (amazing on any dessert with an icing, good god!), honey powder, cayenne powder, tarragon leaf, a tikka masala blend, and (wait for it...) chardonnay-smoked celtic gray sea salt -- and yeah, it's as good as it sounds. Mmmm. 85% of my spice rack says "AllSpice" now, and that means I need to get back to the store and fill in the missing 15% with MORE ALLSPICE SPICES. The people working in the store are helpful and know their herbs, spices, oils, vinegars, etc. And the prices are beyond reasonable. Trips to AllSpice are so much fun...and when I start to feel guilty about how many new spices I'm buying, I get the bill and realize I haven't actually spent near as much as I imagined! Being in this store I felt like a kid in a candy store. This place is a awesome. I couldn't get enough of sampling the different olive oils and balsamic vinegar. I have never been in a store with such huge variety of spices and it seems like they have thought of everything, they have your sweet, your spicy, your savory, your rubs, your herbs and even 32 different varieties of salt and peppers. If you can think of it, they probably have it. My favorite part about this place is they usually have some dish out that uses a few of their products with the recipe! I ended up getting the Garlic Olive Oil and Black Currant Balsamic Vinegar, Blackened Seasoning, Gusto Pizza Co. Pizza Seasoning Blend, and Quebec Poultry Seasoning. Can't say enough good things about this spice shop! Every time I pass through I stock up on their spices. They have a wide range of varieties which are reasonably priced and the best part is you can sample them all! They also sell gourmet flavor infused olive oils and vinegars which you can also sample. I definitely recommend visiting if you like to cook. For all you foodies and wannabe chef, this is the place to go to! Loads loads of different spices and oil. I saw a few unique ones but wasn't brave enough to get it. I got the healthy one without salt content and it is sooooo good. I love that it is salt free so that I can control my salt content. Very fragrant and adds a lot of punch to the dishes.
