The studio is stunning and the people are very welcoming. After taking several private dance lessons with my partner, learning how to waltz, salsa, swing, and rumba, I am starting to feel like a competent dancer. We also tried line dancing classes which were a blast, and they invited us to their dance parties exclusive to members of the studio. We are hooked, and I'm willing to bet that you will be too if you try dancing at Lakeside Dance. Thank you, Adam and Ashley!

We did not leave on bad terms (so I thought). I was appreciative and grateful for what they have done and mentioned this to them. I was always told that they "love" my kids and want the best for them. Well, I was wrong. They say that when you are paying them money...for obvious reasons. Now that we are no longer at the studio, they have mistreated us. Especially my teenage daughter who they have recently seen. She, along with her friend who used to also dance at Prodigy, went to their showcase yesterday to support their dance friends. It is heartwarming to know that they have built great friendships. However, she was surprised how unpleasant Jeannelle (director), Brad, and Layla were. Jeannelle and Layla ignored my daughter and her friend even after they have tried to say Hi. They avoided eye contact as if my daughter and her friend weren't there. Brad yelled at the girls for being in an area he claims they are not allowed to be at (although it doesn't say restricted, etc). To make matters worse, they accuse them of not paying for their tickets! They didnt say this to their faces or tried to ask them or tried contacting us, the parents. Both teens are under 14 years old! I reached out to the studio on Instagram regarding the incident. They read the message and I got no response. I ended up being blocked. This shows lack of professionalism and disrespect. When we left, several others did as well. I will not disclose their reason for leaving, but it shows how unhappy people are there . There are a few I know who are there still because of the friendships their kids have built. At the end of the day, we pay for them to learn and grow as a dancer. And we were not getting that. Research! There are lots of other studios.

I discovered this place when friends of mine advised me to get a dance routine down for my wedding…read morereception entrance. I found Step in Two probably 6 weeks before the wedding and made an appointment with the owner and instructor, Vlad Suanez. I will never forget the dreadful drive over, as my then fiancée and I fought about how I was making him do something that he really did not want to do. He went kicking and screaming and making it painfully clear that I was being selfish and mean and terrible and all the other stuff. We consulted with Vlad for an hour and did some small, simple exercises with him. Well, to my surprise, my now husband, Michael, had an entirely different attitude on the ride back home. In that one hour, actually, almost instantly, Mike had started to warm up to the idea of taking lessons. He was much calmer. Vlad had put him at ease and gave him the confidence that there was nothing that would be asked of him that he would not be able to handle and that going out prepared was a better fate than dancing in front of a lot of people without a plan. Within the next lesson or two, Mike was taking an interest in and even looked forward to visiting the studio. Even though we were working 12+ hours a day, we were still very determined to not miss an appointment. It became an evening out, a team effort between my husband and I, and it bought us closer together. We were in step with one another, our minds were focused on our roles and our bodies had an unfamiliar but flowy sense of intimacy, like our bodies had learned and were now sharing a new language. It was, in all honesty, kinda... well... sexy! There was a new connection between us and it was a creative outlet that we both needed. This new activity was a form of therapy and a distraction from the earlier events of our stressful and exhausting days. PLUS we learned to dance! The end result was a stunned crowd, beautiful photos and a video that keeps reproducing some very blissful feelings of that very special day. Along with our vows, it was the best part of our day. Looking at what my husband accomplished between that horrible first car ride to the way he confidently commanded the dance floor... well, I just fall in love all over again when I see his look of beaming confidence every time I see the video. He looks like a well-cultured lady killer on the dance floor, effortlessly flinging me and spinning me around. Vlad had managed to make our wedding reception entrance spectacular, and this set a lively, happy, party tone with our guests. The act lasted less than 5 minutes, but the memories will last forever.

I only hope for some business owners, they take a review, learn from it and adjust. In this case I do not expect that as Vladimir does not seem interested in the customer at all. My partner and I went for one dance lesson and we had mixed feelings. Vlad loves to talk. Talk about how much he knows, and how much he's done and how incredible he is. LOL. That being said, he sure knows how to dance. His teaching style is unique, and not fair to judge as we never got that far. His approach with us was more of a "once you learn to move, you can dance to anything." So one lesson, we learned a couple of turns and listened to Vlad tell us why he and his approach is so awesome. We let him know we'd take 3 more lessons to feel it out. At lesson 2 we paid for the 3 lessons. during lesson 2 we felt he was very hard on my female partner, actually sounding misogynistic with comments about "women" in general. I think the attempt was to bond but it came across quite harsh. He can be very critical very fast. After 15 minutes of more talking, he puts on a song and I asked if that was a bit advanced or fast for us. Without a word of a lie he talked for another half hour. Showing us his singing skills and his piano skills in a disguised attempt to correlate it to dance. We may have got 15 minutes of actual dancing in that hour. My partner and I both got Covid over Christmas and had to delay the next lessons. When we tried to book appointments, he kept texting he'd check his schedule and let me know. This happened twice and I decided that I prefer if he refunded the $160.00 I had paid. I had to ask 4 times for him to finally reply that there are no refunds but we did have 3 months to use our lessons. I was done. I told him to keep the $160.00 and that I'd be posting a review. He simply texted back a thumbs up and a smiley heart emoticon. Customer Service at it's finest. If you do decide to go here, don't pay in advance. You may never get another lesson. Oh and if you want your teacher to talk and talk and talk and talk, go here. Definitely go here.

I am really glad we found this studio (we saw a couple of dancers competing at the CNE, and found out they were in Scarborough which was perfect for us!). We began our competitive journey last year, and my daughter absolutely loves it! Monika, the director is amazing! I highly recommend this studio, they have expanded the Tap programme now to the really young kiddos now too. Don't be afraid to chat with other parents there, we are all friendly! The studio has a great reputation, anytime we mention which studio we are with, people always say how amazing they are and how respect the dancers are...how we clap for everyone at competitions and congratulate other dancers. Anyways, wanted to leave this review because I noticed a negative one. Socialize with other parents, talk to the teachers etc....The cutest thing happened after my daughter did her first solo ever and in competition in March of this year, her entire team had run to watch her and then they came out and gave her a huge group hug when she finished!! Anyways, both recreational and competitive streams are fantastic!

I would also like to comment on the other reviews here which I read and which made me a little weary before I joined as I was coming from another dance school. They have never advised me I can ONLY buy items needed (uniforms etc) at their "partner shop". I also think the lady who makes the rounds is quite nice and fair. I haven't had any issues at all with anyone.
