My laptops just died on me. Both of my personal laptops. Like, they had both been brought back from…read morethe brink several times. And they weren't top of the line to begin with. So I decided to find a place to recycle them. I live in a suburb of New Orleans. The city of New Orleans does recycling of electronics, but only to residents of the city. The parish I live in is questionable with recycling, let alone that of electronics. Scrolling thru Google, I saw this place about halfway down, so I emailed them not expecting any response until business hours the next day. Two hours before they were scheduled to open, the owner emailed me. We carried on an email conversation where she confirmed that they can recycle for $5, removal of the hard drive by them would be an additional $5, then $3 for destruction of the hard drive. $30 minimum cost. So the grand total for my two would be $26, but they also offered to take my cheap dollar store calculators for recycling since there was a $30 minimum. I came after I got off work. I was greeted at the door, welcomed in and taken care of quickly. I was in and out in five minutes. Amazing customer service. Woman owned and operated. I can not recommend this high enough. I will be back when I have more electronics to dispose of. There is even a certificate they give you as proof they have destroyed the hard drive. As curious as I am of the process of recycling electronics, that is a question for another day. Maybe I should email them and ask.

I was searching for a company to deliver my documents for shredding. ShredLink offers great prices…read morefor smaller quantities...3-5 rectangle boxes or trash bags for a minimum price of $30.00. EXACTLY what I needed! And the charge for added boxes is very reasonable. AND the person who answered my call seeking information was extremely helpful and courteous. All of the staff there were excellent to do business with...I highly recommend!!!

Recycling in the greater New Orleans Metro area can be difficult. Yes, you can have bins given at…read moreyour house, but that can be tricky. For example, I currently live in a townhouse, and my neighbor has a major thing AGAINST recycling and does not want to even see the bins. Which would only be mildly annoying if she were not the adult daughter of the owner and threw a hissy fit both times the bins were dropped off and now the city will not bring the bins back because of her foul mouth. I be happy when I move away from her. Any way. The second Saturday of each month, recycling is accepted here. Heading from the lake on Elysian Fields, stay in the right lane, go to the right of the overpass after going under the 610 at the Waffle House, make a left under the overpass, and there should be someone standing at the gate to guide you. Heading to the lake, make a u-turn and go under the overpass. It is not real well marked. They are back to accepting glass. They do accept electronics, paper, plastic and so on. Every three months, they have shredding capabilities. You can bring up to 4 used tires for recycling. They are super helpful with unloading and helping you separate your recyclables. This is a great place to be able to drop stuff off (when they are open). This is a major part of my ritual. One day, hopefully, there will be a campaign by the city to make the population more aware of the damaging affects of garbage, and what we can do to save the environment. Until then, I will happily be one of the few to come here.

Short line, short wait. The gentlemen took my recycling and off I went. GPS led me there just…read morefine. Pull up stations labeled for other items like glass, batteries, tires.
