The recently remodeled children's section is a great benefit to the library. My son enjoys taking home the themed book bags, which include an assortment of books on topics like construction equipment, fire trucks, etc. The bjg play table with Duplos is always a hit and much appreciated on a rainy day. This is a cozy library with plenty to offer families, and people of all ages. The drive-up dropbox for books (available 24/7!) is super convenient. If you can't find the particular book you want in the library, chances are you can get it down the street at Simpson College as the catalogues are linked and your library card is good there.

It's located right off Main Street, and has plenty of parking, plenty of tables, free wifi, and lots of books. There's plenty of natural lighting in this place, as it's covered with windows. It makes for a relaxing place to get out a book and read for a spell. My favorite thing was the geneaological area that they're keeping. They have old obituaries, family trees, and newspaper articles about old family names, maps of old plats of land, and all sorts of stuff to look up historical facts. Kudos to whoever is keeping up those files. The library also offers a kids section, where they can even sort of play and read by the window without disturbing the patrons. It's not the quietest of libraries, but it offers so many features that are great benefits to the community. The library offers all kinds of public classes, speeches, clubs and meetings here. This is a great place! Fairfield was one of the first recipients (if not THE first) of the Carnegie Library fund to build libraries in rural areas. The Carnegie Library is now a museum and located just a few blocks away, which is quite apt.

They seem to be able to find me any book I'm looking for, if not in-house then through interlibrary loans. I am quite busy with my work right now, but I'm so looking forward to participating in some of the writing programs that are held here. I make frequent use of the public Wi-Fi and study rooms. This is a godsend to me. It's a very pleasant and beautiful setting. It's a joy to spend time at the library. I also appreciate that there are so many tables and internet spaces, a copying machine, and a lot of very good books. Someone has been very selective that for a relatively small library (compared to a big city), it has a wonderful selection of books. I also love the books for sale and the book sales. There are many special features and programs for the community as well. The staff is beyond wonderful. It's a great perk to living in Fairfield, just knowing the library is here and I love going here as much as I can. I agree that the library seems like a community meeting space. It's a wonderful place to spend time reading, researching, looking at magazines (a wonderful collection) and books. I feel so lucky to have this library available to me.

My friend and I came here the Friday morning of my Iowa trip to print out my flight infornation for…read moremy flight back to NYC that afternoon. I went to the information desk to get a guest pass to use the computers. I was given one. I was surprised it was free. I went to one of the available computers and entered in my access code. Ths time allotted was generous and definitely more than I needed. I went to my e-mail and sent the e-mail to print. The printing fee was cheaper than NYC libraries. Once I was done I just used the internet until my friend was ready to leave.

If you are in a hurry, you can simply run in and get your items. I always end up pursuing the stacks of books, but it's a nice option for anyone in a hurry.

My Sprint cell phone doesn't get very good service when I visit Bedford.I imagine a lot Of visitors discover their cell service does not "work" in Bedford,it's pretty "far out"! It's so hospitable and very useful to me ,that the library generously allows even visitors to use the FREE WIFI ! Not Even the Taylor County Courthouse offers public WiFi . The friendly librarians giving me the wifi Password, has been a true lifesaver at times when visiting my family in the Bedford area .

The library supports this farm community, better than Big city Libraries with significantly larger…read morebudgets. Book sales are the best I have been to, "You should see my home library". Locals come to; play cards, fellowship, and connect with their community. The library has several places to read comfortably, and they have a helpful friendly staff, that have even helped me write grants. Good selection of Movie DVDs, Books on CD, Large print books. It has an active Friends of the Library.
