This was my first fish hatchery and I wasn't disappointed. There's thousands of fish consisting of several species of trout. There's several little ponds covered by a net to keep predators away. In some areas the water is dark and it's a little hard to see the trout without crouching down. Signs explain the hatchery and species of trout. There's a nature hill on a hill behind the hatchery and a creek for catch and release fishing. People can by fish food for a dollar and feed the trout. Admission is free.

FREE entry! Interesting little spot to stop by. Several different breeds of trout and tank after tank. The best part was watching the fish jump in the air out of the water. You can also feed them, food is bought at the main building.

Not me in the picture. My sister and my dog. This was my first time there. My sister always bragged about the place. The scenery is amazing. Things were so informative. Finding the place was easy. Everything about this place screams peaceful and soothing. I took my dog and i must say we all enjoyed it.

A little bird.

Great place to take your kids and spend time feeding fish and seeing all the different fish they house there.

I don't want to be too pejorative in this review, because a lot of my feelings about PA are…read moreentirely subjective, and not really fair to its residents, cities, towns, cultures, etc. I once dated a young lady from West Philly, and I always thought if she had lived in upstate NY or New England, the romance might have lasted longer than it did (although people who know me would assuredly say to that suggestion, with a sort of amused contempt on their faces, "Yeah...sure..."). I have a reactionary friend I've known since our teenaged years, who thinks he's a "fiscal conservative; social liberal" (he isn't), and we often go on long rides together looking for bookstores (which don't really exist anymore) or antique shops (which still do, although they look like they're struggling). If you've seen the 1970s Blaxploitation "classic" film "Blacula," we're the antique store partners shown in the beginning of the film except (a) we're both white (b) we're both heterosexual and (c) we're not partners in any business, but simply harmless weirdos who enjoy buying kitschy junk in antique stores for not a lot of money in our spare time. (I should mention that as a kind of "poetic justice," he has a teenaged son who is an ardent liberal-- my friend told me they had recently discussed religion and he mentioned the "Ko-ran" when his son said, "It isn't the Ko-ran; it's the Qu'ran." "Who cares?" "You'd care if someone called the Bible the Bibbel." Smart kid!) My friend wanted to drive to Bucks County for our antique hunting; since he was driving, I was game. His GPS directed us to the "Quaker Village Mall" in Quakertown, which, to me...north NJ native that I am...was in the middle of nowhere (the "Trump" signs still up on 60% of the front lawns we passed didn't help ameliorate that negative impression). Half of the mall was closed down, seemingly for good. A Rite Aid, a tired-looking Chinese restaurant, and an Italian restaurant were all that remained. No antiques here. We did see a bookstore on the main street. "Friendly Book Store." I guess I should have known better. It was a "Christian Book Store." I bought an Arcadia Series book on the history of Quakertown. My friend mentioned a female junkie friend of his who always bemoans her life by saying, "Why me?" So he bought a Christian book for her entitled, "Why Me?" (I've read the Bibbel...sorry, I mean Bible, the Qu'ran, and a Jewish Prayer Book, and I still often ask the God(s), "Why me?" but I didn't say that to him. Also, since I suspect his interest in his junkie friend is more carnal than altruistic, I was going to suggest he write his own book, put his picture on the cover, and entitle it "Why Not Me?" before handing it to her, but I kept silent). We parked on a side street near a deserted train station, in front of dark, empty houses that had garbage piled in front of them. Very few people were on the streets. I couldn't help thinking of an old E.C. horror comic story entitled "Midnight Mess," where vampires emerge at night and populate the town with their own "blood" restaurants and "undead-oriented" businesses. I'm not superstitious, but I told my friend, "Let's get outa here before dark, ok?" He didn't object. Luckily for us, we found a few interesting antique stores. Still, we remained skittish. The wearing of masks seems to be a "do it, or don't do it, as you choose" proposition. Despite his right-wing politics, my friend is very protective of his health (his ex-father-in-law uncharitably called him a "delicate vessel"), and if you're not wearing a mask, he's not going to patronize your store. I'm more fatalistic, so I might take a chance, but I won't stay in there for long. My friend is interested in old record albums, and there were plenty of those. The books, CDs, and DVDs I saw weren't very interesting, although I bought a few cheap CDs (if they're bad, I won't feel guilty throwing them away). The real find, for me, was an autographed photo of the late jazz great (and drug addict) Anita O'Day. When I asked the proprietor how much it was, he replied, "How about $10?" Absolutely, although the thought did cross my mind that the autograph might not be authentic. But...still...it was cool. There were restaurants, but given the casual attitude the area seems to have about mask wearing and social distancing, we both decided to wait until we had reached the safe harbor of NJ. Quakertown reminded me of a Twilight Zone town without the charm. Or that vampire-infested town in "Midnight Mess." Of course, it takes more than one visit to analyze accurately the true merits of any town or city. I'm sure the residents of the town have a love for it, or at least a strong liking and attachment. And I apologize to them if my own admittedly subjective and narrow analysis seems mean-spirited or harsh. But I can't see myself ever visiting here again. And, if I ever do, you can rest assured that it will be during the daylight hours, and only the daylight hours!
