It is the weekend and the ubiquitous Brazilian dish is their signature buffet. So everything came to the table! The 10 cuts of meat include bacon, pork chop, oxtail, pig ear, beef tongue, linguica, brisket, ham hock, and pork knuckles. The broth is brimming with collagen--so they offer salsa, hot sauce, and fresh orange slices to resuscitate your palette. Thicken the broth with toasted nut flour if you wish. There's fried sweet banana and yucca, pork rinds and crispy bacon on the side, perfect rice and shredded collard greens. Assuage your guilt with shots of house caipirinha. Think a sweeter margarita on the rocks... The very patient and sweet maitre'd offered me dessert. He's thinks he is so funny! While I have no reference to compare this example to others as it was my first taste of Fejoada, the standard is set immensely high. Not cheap at R150 total bill ($40). But this memory has been seared indelibly into my food coma'd brain. And now I understand why they have such a light dinner. Time for a siesta to recover. !!! I fully appreciated the blanket and heaters that were brought over as it was a chilly evening, yet we were still "indoors" but not. Service was impeccable, with every member of the staff ensuring our experience was top notch and food met our expectations. I chose the slowly roasted beef ribs rice and was not expecting savory goodness that arrived! The beef ribs melted in my mouth and the rice was so incredibly flavorful - I would order this over and over again! Of all the restaurants I've been to, Figueira Rubaiyat has by far the one of the most extensive wine list I've seen, featuring many different wines from around the world, including Brazil of course! There is also a gift shop that should not be missed because of the very unique items that are found here - and a place I'll need to visit next time I'm in the area again! The entire experience is one that should not be missed. Every detail and every bite was absolute perfection!

No English menus for this non-Portuguese-speaking girl here, but I actually think Portuguese is a little easier to figure out than Spanish. So if you're in my equally illiterate shoes, smile, pull out Google Translate, and guess away. I ordered the octopus and fish ceviche, the fettucine with mushrooms, a caipirinha and the "Texas" cocktail, because the bartender really wanted me to drink it. I found the ceviche to be the most underwhelming item out of all my choices. It was fresh and tasty, but a little under-seasoned, without either the sharp bite of citric acid nor enough salt to offset the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes in the mix. The fettucine was delicious, with that chewiness of handmade goodness. The sauce was thick and didn't break at all, and the mushrooms were heavenly. I didn't really taste the lemon zest that was supposed to come sprinkled on top, but that's probably because the other flavors were stronger. The caipirinha was fine, but the Texas was a true mixology delight. My bartender didn't speak much English, but he used Google Translate to tell me a number of different details about the herbs and flavors he used in his drinks, which was really endearing. All in all, I was very impressed and would definitely come back here again.
