The major carriers are trying their best to lower their standards to be more like discount carriers. The whole industry sucked all the enjoyment out of air travel. So, Allegiant really isn't that different any more except it is still much cheaper if you are traveling between the towns they serve. My flight out of Appleton to Sanford Orlando and my flight back were both packed, on time, with my luggage arriving on the baggage claim carousel shortly after I arrived. So, that's better than my last couple of flights on Delta and United. It was a short flight so I paid for no upgrades, I was boarded last, punished with a center seat, and had to buy clothes at my destination as well as do laundry in the hotel but traveling between small airports and saving hundreds of dollars, it was worth it. They are very strict about luggage, you just get one personal and it has to fit in the smallest space I've ever seen in front of my seat, though they don't count CPAP and other necessary medical equipment so I guess I had two little carryons. You can only put a bag in overhead if you pay for it, but if you pay for checked luggage ahead of time online (use their app), it's not any more than Delta or United and less than Spirit. Like Spirit, there will be sick contagious passengers and crying babies all around you. Bring hearing protection, reading material, snacks and an empty water bottle to fill past security as they charge a lot for drinks and snacks in flight. read more

We were already an hour late to depart, which felt ambitious given the state of the plane. You'd think that extra hour might go toward, I don't know, basic cleaning? Instead, the crew seemed far more focused on policing personal items and charging people for carry-ons than addressing the crushed Cheetos graveyard we were all expected to sit in. I'm fairly certain a 6-year-old was in the cockpit, because that would at least explain the chaos. The flight attendants? Deeply committed to complaining as a full-time performance art. One of them moved through the aisle like a skipping adult child, while the other seemed far more invested in her beaded headpiece than, say, safety or sanitation. Boarded the plane and immediately thought I'd walked into a crime scene sponsored by stale snacks. I've seen cleaner floors at Waffle House at 2am. it was horrible. Flying from Nashville to Sanford. We were supposed to board at 7:15. we heard other people commenting that it had changed to 9:15. We asked at the gate and they had no idea why it was delayed. called the priority customer service line. first call disconnected. Called again, no information other than delayed. Finally we learn it is a flight attendant issue. We are delayed because she has to drive from Knoxville. Finally called for boarding around 10:10 they called Priority Zone One. all one sentence. Well, they meant both priority and zone one. we were priority but zone 4. So, we waited. No, should have boarded with the zone one. Boarded the plane thanked the attendant for being there. He advised he was not flying with us. Just waiting for the attendant to drive in from Knoxville. We had another 20 minute wait before she arrived. Had to have 4 attendants on board. Why make us wait that long? Nashville is a large area - should not have to wait for a almost 3 hour drive from Knoxille. read more

I flew from Belleville, IL to Sanford/Orlando on 8/24/25 with my dog in a carrier that matched the dimensions of your requirements. No problem. When we departed from Sanford/Orlando on 8/31/25, the check in people decided my dog was too big for the carrier. She was able to stand up, turn around, and lay down. In fact, she was asleep when we checked in. They were going to deny us boarding. I told them there was no problem boarding in Belville, same dog, same carrier. They called four different people to look at my dog sleeping in the carrier. It still had the airline tag on the carrier from Belleville. Finally, they decided to let us board since we were headed home on a round trip ticket. They told us we would not be able to fly with the dog in that carrier on Allegiant ever again. No worries. We won't be after that hassle. We will also be canceling our Allegiant credit card with you. Train your people all the same and have them know the specs of the carrier. I do. read more

Seats are uncomfortable. No leg room. My flight was canceled due to a snow storm by a text message. Even thought my flight was more then 6 hours after the storm ended and there were other flights landing at the same airport. I was on hold for 5 hours and never got through to anybody. It took almost a week to hear back from allegiant. They sent an email telling me I would only be refunded for my return flight that was canceled which was $173. I had to rent a car for $550 to drive 11 hours home and then pay almost $4 a gallon in gas to get home. I'm out almost $400 and lost an entire day of vacation trying to get a hold of allegiant and driving 11 hours. The only other flight they offered was 5 days later and I was never offered a hotel while I waited for the flight. I thought they would offer flight vouchers or more of a refund but they offered nothing. read more

Sometimes you receive a comp beverage if you are an Allways card holder. We have two, for now. But, read the disclaimer for Vouchers!!!!! Don't rebook a canceled flight too soon. Even if it's weather and illness related. We had 3 vouchers totaling $1700+. We used them for a flight. That flight was then canceled. I tried rebooking and found they had been "used" for the flight that we canceled. I'm out 1700+ when no flight/service/travel was utilized. I just experienced the rudest agent ever at St Pete Tampa PIE airport. She told me my blanket, that I've travelled with for many years, had to go in the bag or I couldn't take it. She said, very rudely, put it in your bag. I said I'll need to sit down to do it. She said if you get out of line you can't board the plane. Never ever have I been talked to like this. I'm elderly with a foot injury. I needed to sit down but she denied me access. I finally got the blanket in but I am shaking with anger and disgust you would hire someone like this. Truly garbage. Yes, direct flights are nice and convenient, but what's more convenient are flights that leave on time. We had an 8am flight heading home to McAllen. Checked the night before and it said everything was on time. We got through check in fine. When we got to our terminal, it's literally a giant holding area with 4 gates leaving out of the same door. It's so confusing and so easy to get on the wrong flight. Once we got into the "gate" we stood in line to board. Once we scanned our ticket in, we still had to wait on the loading tunnel. There we were stuck for 30min until they told us all to turn around and go back to the holding area to wait and be updated. Apparently there was a "safety issue" with the plane so they had to get another plane. My last flight was delayed because the crew before didn't do a maintenance on it. We were the first flight so I'm thinking another maintenance wasn't done. We ended up being delayed an hour. What's up with these planes? Then they have the widest aisles with the thinnest seats. No leg space! I prefer aisle and looking at the design of the chairs, it has the smallest stow area under the seat. I am so done with Allegiant. read more

Direct flights make it easier when visiting family or when they are coming to visit. I have mixed experiences whenever I fly Allegiant. It's usually pretty good, I wish it was more consistent. Prices are typically better than flying out of Orlando, but it does vary. If you can live with a backpack only, and you are flying somewhere allegiance flies, chances are you can find a nice deal. If you are checking a bag or taking a carry-on, count the cost with all of extra fees they charge each way and each segment to see what is worth it. Finally got to board plane about 9:15 pm and then got delayed for another 3 hours sitting on the plane. Switched runways then back to gate to have people removed because they asked why we were being delayed and one of the flight attendants were being a real Karen and had them kicked off the flight. We have all heard of nightmarish stories of Allegiant and their delayed flights and failing airplane parts...but I can't say enough good things about my last experience. I flew out of Sanford into Memphis last Friday. My family of four went on a short weekend trip to Missouri and we didn't need THAT many things to take along. We each had a personal (free item) which needed to fit under the seat in front of us. We paid for one carry on which took care of the rest of the items we needed (additional clothes, shoes, toiletries we didn't place in our personal bag). Our seats were decent and roomy (I'm short, what can I say?). The flight attendants were all pleasant. Unfortunately, unless you have an Allegiant credit card, food/drinks are not free. My kids begged for a snack, so I ordered a kids snack pack which was around $7. It included one gummy snack, Goldfish, Oreos and an Allegiant pin :). I ordered a bottled water as well. The take off and landing was smooth as can be. No complaints! Our trip home was awesome as well. The flight attendant that shared the emergency and safety briefing prior to takeoff was straight up hilarious. She had quite a few (tasteful) jokes... and amazing comedic timing. I loved it! Why go to Sanford when you get cheaper flights from Orlando? I thought that since I was going to Harrisburg and Allegiant flew straight there that it would be better for me to go via Sanford. At this point, I want to say that the Sanford Airport and the Harrisburg Airport are small, efficient, and easy. Five stars to the airports, but not to the airline. The "budget" airline charged three of us over $1,200 RT, which was significantly more expensive than flights from Orlando to Philly (of course, I would have needed a car to make the drive to Harrisburg, but I could have used a car a couple of times on the trip. Now, for Allegiant's extras and lacks: No tv screen; No pouch to store your bottle of water or book on the Airbus; Seats don't recline; Even water is 3 bucks; Checked bags are $70-75 each way, depending on when you choose to pay. (Maybe next year they'll install pay toilets!) Nope! Once was enough for me. read more

After some bad experiences on Frontier I was a bit skeptical, but Allegiant went above and beyond my expectations. No delays, courteous staff, short TSA lines and an overall great experience. I will no longer fly Frontier with there long delays (waited 15hrs in the Nashville airport because we were told not to leave). Every flight I've flown with them has been a nightmare. I kid you not on a flight to Nashville the pilot came on the intercom and informed us an engine was not working, but that we didn't need it and the flight crew was beyond rude. We will be flying Allegiant from now on. They offer military honors. It depends on your current status, but as a military vet I got three checked bags and one carry on for free. When you book just select 0 bags for everything and let them assign your seats. When you arrive show your military ID and ask to change seats which they do for free if it's available. Also you can go through the priority line when checking in and board with priority. read more

A nice, low cost alternative to the major airlines. Easy to book flights using the free app. Allegiant uses airports that are for the most part easier to access than the typical big city fields. The aircraft are basic and not new. If you need plush seats and a TV screen, go elsewhere. Same for meal and beverage service. First time flying this Airline... I will fly again and again! I flew Allegiant Air leaving ORF and it was only right to book a returning flight from SFB back to ORF. I did not have any issues. However, I am raising a brow for the no cash concessions on board. This was a shock to me because flying other airlines concessions, well at least a small bag of peanuts are FREE. I guess paying a low price to fly, they have to charge extra for something. So after I thought about it AFTER THE FACT, then I said OK. Well you do have the option to bring food on the plane, so purchasing concessions with your credit card isn't a must, but make sure you have a card available in case you do wish to purchase concessions. The flight attendants were on point. The passengers all were easy going. No issues whatsoever. I did not opt in to the larger seats that offer more leg room. The standard seats were just fine. You are able to take on a personal item for no charge as long as it fits under the seat... love it! I'd recommend you give them a try. I'm looking forward to flying again with this Airline. Recently, we had a great experience with this airline. It is a low-cost, no-frills airline. Expect to pay for any concessions on board. The price was right and the planes were new and the service was good. We actually left 20 minutes earlier than we expected departure and got to our destination early. It had been about 10 years prior to our last experience ( not such a good one) at the Sanford Airport and Allegiant and we see that the airport is now quite modern and very expanded. We like the fact that Alllegiant flies into small market destinations and do not require connections. read more

I can book whatever carrier whenever I fly with work, skies the limit but unfortunately for me, I don't ever exactly know when I'm flying until the very last minute and usually all the cooshie direct flights are booked up by then leaving whoever, wherever, whatever. Mostly everybody's been happy and friendly and helpful and nice; except that one guy at four in the morning on checking in. :/ Learned a long time ago, especially with flights, I don't nickle and dime them. It was my first time flying ever, and I was flying with my primary family. We flew out of ATW to get to SFB. The seats were okay, but they could be a lot more comfortable. Legroom was okay too, I could stretch quite a bit. I really liked how much space was between the seats, I wasn't expecting that much. There were a few seats open, so some of us could move around and switch what seat we were in. Our flight was early both flights, and the landing and take-off was smooth. There was a bit of turbulence, but never at any point did I feel unsafe. I'm only rating this flight 3/5 because there wasn't much to eat. The flight attendants only came around once, and there was just chips and drinks, nothing too crazy. Also, there was no Wi-Fi like other airlines which was disappointing. My first time flying allegiant! I flew out of Sanford to rochester, NY. Getting to Sanford airport was miserable. The signage was poor and I could not figure out how to get to long term parking. I made several mistakes getting there. So I arrived late. I rushed to the check in area. The process was horrible. I was in line forever trying to check my bag. They kept calling for Kentucky and other destinations. I never heard them say New York or rochester. When I got to the front, they were no longer checking bags for my destination. Annoyed. Thought I'd miss my flight but my friend said he'd carry my bag on the plane. Luckily it was small enough to be a carry on. So we rushed to tsa. He didn't have precheck so we waited in line. Of course my bag got flagged but it wasn't the only bag to be flagged for additional screening. So we had five minutes before the gate was closing. They checked my bag and we ran to the gate just as the door was closing. We got on the plane and people were in our seats. Apparently they thought we weren't coming. I thought the overhead compartment was full but I fact, all the kids were closed because they were about to take off. So we put our bags in the bins and sat down. We backed out of the gate and the gear slipped and the plane was out of commission for about thirty minutes. 5 engineers came and fixed it. We were off only slightly delayed. The flight attendants came by for drink and snack orders. Nothing is free. My friend had Tito's and the cran Apple mixer. It was 7am so I asked for coffee. They didn't have it. So I said hot tea would be fine. They don't have that either. So what else do you drink at 7am? I asked for a whiskey sour. They said they have no sour mix. I reply limes and lemons will suffice. They don't have any. So I end up with orange juice and Jack Daniels. There is a special, one mini bottle, mixer and a snack for $10. So we both got the special with Chex mix, plus two more mini bottles and a bag of nuts. The total was $18. I'm not sure how they math works out but we were happy. The flight attendants lingered for awhile, so I was like is everything paid for? Are we ok? They replied yeah they just wanted to see if my drink was gross! Hahahahaha. It wasn't gross. I had four whiskey OJs, or as I'd like to call them, Manmosas. My friend had four Tito's. It was a two hour flight and we were obliterated and having the best time. The two additional bottles he had and the two additional bottles I had were given to us AT NO CHARGE!!!!! Unreal. The flight attendants joined in on our fun. We made fast friends. The seats on the plane are as comfortable as foldable beach chairs. Lol. They have ZERO padding. Thankfully it was a short flight. I recommend the mixed nuts. So good. And try a manmosa, you'll love it. Will easily fly them again. But will Uber there since their parking is so expensive. Long term is $14 a day! Yikes. read more

You get what you pay for, and none of what you don't - and that's a good thing. I have started flying Allegiant more as of late, as they have great routes between NC and FL. I have not seen one of these "ancient" aircrafts that people spout off about. In fact, one of my most recent flights was on an aircraft that seemed quite new. I have never had any issues with the iOS app. I have taken both large and small backpacks and they all fit under the seat in front of me, and even the ones that don't quite squeeze all the way in have been allowed without a problem. Why I like them: I usually pack my snacks and a water, so I never need to buy them. I don't care about boarding the plane early, because you'll inevitably wait for the last-minute passengers or some taxiing nonsense, so I'm okay boarding in a later group; also in no rush because I have a seat assignment. I take a lot of short trips so I usually have only a backpack. Don't need overhead bin space. Standard seats are fine by me for short segments (less than 90 min). Might consider an upgrade for a longer flight, but then I may be more likely to use another airline if the distance is greater. Friendly staff, although I typically don't need much, but there's always smiles abound. read more
