Check with the Texas Board of Public Accountancy - This "CPA" has multiple complaints…read moreand actions against her license After a quick consultation over the phone with Aurelia in 2020, she assured me that she could help with amending a few past tax returns. (2017-2019) I had filed these myself and missed a lot of potential exemptions which in return would lower the taxes due. I paid her a deposit ( 9/3/2020) and Aurelia assured me her/her staff would get to work on amending these past returns. During the next couple years, I worked with the staff at the office who advised us on starting a s corp and helped with the process. Aurelia's office also took over preparing my taxes for the coming year. Her staff, Brian and Lissa, were helpful. Shortly after getting our S Corp paperwork filed, I was informed by another staff member via email that Brian was no longer working with Aurelia. The reason of his departure was never disclosed. Fast forward to 2022 and the amendments that I had originally contracted Aurelia to help me with still had NOT be completed. I kept in contact with various staff members but ultimately kept getting one excuse after another. Her "system crashed" at least twice during this time but I was assured the amendments were being worked on despite the setbacks. Aurelia herself never contacted me over these years of waiting. I should have known way before that this was a scam, but lesson learned. After years of the run around, I consulted with a new CPA and found out that there is a time limit of when tax returns can be amended ( 2 Year years) I was NEVER advised of this by Aurelia when during our initial consult nor over the years of run around her and her staff gave me. Now that so much time had passed due to Aurelia's lack of communication and shady business habits, none of the amendments could be done by anyone. i paid this lady for nothing I attempted to get my deposit back for months, but my attempts were ignored. I was advised to look Aurelia with the Texas board of Public Accountancy where I found that Aurelia E Weems has MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS filed on her and actions from the board against her license Feel free to check for yourself. TSBPA.Texas.Gov It was only when I brough these finding to Aurelia's attention and threated to share my experience with the board that she finally reached out to me. Within 2 hours of my email. Aurelia herself emailed me back apologetic but blaming everything on her "IT guy" and her "Server crashing". She also asked that I not turn her into the board as my complaint could ruin her business.... My check for my deposit was mailed the same day. PROCEED WITH CAUTION WITH THIS ONE AND ALWAYS DO YOUR RESEARCH WITH THE BOARD BEFORE TRUSTING OR HIRING ANYONE
