The layout is designed to accentuate the picturesque lakefront setting. This was one of the first Davis Love III designed courses in the Charlotte area. The tree lined fairways, the terrain, and water make for a challenging game. There is only a small area at the beginning where you are looking at houses- the rest is natural. Don't let the fact that it's a municipal course slow you down. This is the nicest muni I've ever played. It's a Donald Ross design so it's a classic! Richard who runs the inProShop is great and has an answer for every one of your questions. They have a driving range, chipping area & separate putting green. All are in great condition. You will love the wide open fairways! The tee boxes are in great condition & large. They have tee positions that will suit every level of play. Most of the greens were in really good shape. There were maybe three or four that had bare spots but not unusual given the weather. They have GPS on the carts. They had rain the night before so many of the holes were 90 degree or 'cart path only' You will get a beep top and a nasty gram if you try to defeat the guidelines. As a Senior on a Monday, I got a great rate of $48 bucks for 18 holes with cart. It's a course I highly recommend!

Yesterday was 6:10 am and we were first on, first off, finishing in just under 3 hours. It's always weird how 80% of the time they have you going off of #10. They should just renumber the front and back nines and be done with it. Greens range from pretty decent to in rough shape and, like most courses around here, even the high dollar ones, seems as though nobody ever fixes ball marks. The staff is always pleasant and, if you're in the mood, they have a decent, and very cheap, chili-dog with all the fixings available after your round. Have had one for breakfast more than a few times.

However, the golf course is always wet due to very poor drainage design. In fact, the driving range, which is one of the big reasons I joined, is closed as often as it is open. The wait staff, with only a few exceptions, is inattentive. My biggest disappointment was that management treated everyone as customers rather than "members." If you love golf, RR may not be the best choice.
