Horrible driving instructor Paul would take my son out for a 60 minute lesson and grab a 30 minute lunch while my son would wait in the car. We decided to change our mind a not use the instructor car and canceled 7 days before the test date well within their 48hr cancellation policy and they canceled my son test date online even though Paul said he would not cancel which he lied and canceled the test online and we forfeited our $53 fee to the ministry. I brought up theses complaints to Rizwan the manger of Allstar and he explained to me because I canceled the $250 car use that he agreed with Paul to go out of his way to cancel our test date with the ministry. In a package of 15 lessons we were only able to get 11 lessons - and we had over a dozen teachers who cancelled. One of these included the owner (Malik) who also cancelled! Acessibility needs to be improved. (Pre-covid) The in class sessions were OK. I am Hard of Hearing, and most of the movies shown had no subtitles, and did not even have an option to enable subtitles. I opted for package 2 (10 hour in car lessons and 20 hour in class sessions). The first 6 hours of my in car lessons were with one of the instructors, Hassan; he used gestures and spoke in a loud clear voice when giving me instructions - I appreciated that; however, he was a bit agressive with giving instructions at time. (This week) My second instructor - the manager, Zahib - for the remaining 4 hours, kind of understood that I am Hard of Hearing, but he kept talking in a low voice and did not gesture as much, so I misuderstood him at times. I always repeated what he said, to make sure I understood him, he would get frusturated and would take over the steering wheel and condescended me, saying I needed more lessons, he doesn't know what happended to me, which was unprofessional, I kept telling him that my right ear doesn't hear well, and he kept apologizing, but kept making me feel like I wasn't a worthy driver. I was absolutely confident with my driving. Would not recommend going here. Instructors here aren't accessible friendly. Both instructors kept saying "listen to me, do as I say", but if I want to make sure I hear you correctly, then how can I do as you say the first time? Unorganized and terrible instructors. They do not explain the reasons for certain actions on the road, they just say "Just listen to me and do what I say". That is how they teach. They stand you up, and don't reply to your calls of messages either. Had an appointment at 11:30 Am, so we texted him at 11AM to confirm the appointment. Enam the instructor confirms, and instructs me wit outside. At 11:35AM, I message him telling him I am already outside. No response. At 12:04, I message him with "??" and still no response. I proceeded to call him and I was told that he could not make it. Not only did he make me wait outside in 35 degrees weather, he doesn't even have the decency to message me back or call informing me that he was running late or not coming. No response at all. If you are a parent, I would not advise you going with this school. At the end of the day, this is a school and if you are not learning, why send them off to school with your hard earned money? My driving instructor was not good... Although he seemed to be a decent instructor for G2 test (all the basics for an absolute beginners), he did not prepare me well for the G test, which is why I paid an enormous amount of money - to prepare me well for the G test. What was appalling was that he would look at his phone during the lessons, which made me feel extremely nervous. Also, texting me at the last minute to delay or cancel was bad. Moreover, asking me if I have a boyfriend, or whether I'm going to get an expensive car, like Benz, is also awkward and unprofessional. However, if I focus solely on driving, it's subpar, because I didn't really get the sense that he pointed out and explained/ taught me how to improve on my driving weaknesses, which I know I have. Despite all that, I'm giving 2 star instead of 1, because he did cover the absolute beginner's basics well, which I also needed. I came to this driving school after hearing the great reviews I heard about the driving instructors at All Star driving school on their Maple location facebook page. I also had a good look at the testimonials on their main website which seemed good...(of course one sided). However, I only attended 1 day of the in class instruction (no driving portion). Since I live in Thornhill, I went to the Thornhill location. Let me just say I am not a teenager, but an adult trying to get my G license. Upon sitting, within the first few minutes of this class instruction, I felt I was being talked down at. I was absolutely confused why people were recommending this driving school. The class instructor is called "Mac". He jokes around thinking that he's funny, when he's actually rude and antagonizing. He has this overall theme in class to make you believe that teenagers are the number one reason people on the road die today. I think it is absolutely wrong to use fear tactics in a learning atmosphere... Instead of bringing out confidence in drivers they are only making them more fearful of driving. It was very clear on day one that I would not stay another day to be treated like I was in a concentration camp. Mac kept going and going about how we're going to learn soooo much, but it's all talk, it was zero content learned in day 1. He didn't plan any class lesson for the first day, it was wasted on class peer introductions and inappropriate female bashing driving videos. Overall, I had a very negative experience, it was only 1 day. I was talking to a few of the other students in class and they actually liked Mac and found him funny...They likely experienced the class much differently than I did. read more

Please be aware and don't lose your money in this terrible school, I had the worst experience ever with them. Let me tell you what happened. I registered in All Star school on the 23th of August, attended the 20 hours in class, and the teacher was so nice and caring. After that they assigned me to instructor called Ehsan (Ahsan). On the first lesson with him, he arrived with another girl, and forced me to drive her to her Subway station despite of the lack of my driving knowledge, I told him that I need some practicing before heading directly to the crowded streets, but he laughed at me saying "face the dragon!" Of course he was doing that because she was a private customer (as he told me) and he was supposed to drop her of, so it came on my head although he put me from the first moment in a great stress. I drove her to the station, and he was yelling at me all the way while he was giving me the instructions. I was about to blow up in his face while he kept focusing on my face saying "don't bite your lips" why the hell he was caring about my lips or my fucking face rather than focusing on the road training. He insisted to talk about my personal life while texting all the way with his phone, and of course he didn't forget to yell every moment. He went to Tim Horton's and bought a coffee and used their washroom; and guess what all that during the two hours that he supposed to use them for training me. We pulled over also for another 15 mins so he could check the form of instructions that he will deliver to the school about my process. So you can say I only received about one hour of the real driving lesson. And he kept saying you should take extra private lessons with me because this school is only for teens, and you can't pass the real test without shacking your wallet! I returned home aftet this shit and I was very angry, I called the school for changing my instructor. They gave me a number for Rosi, who simply was incapable of responding on my msgs and calls, and he/she sent at last a msg saying I need to go to her far away station, and when I said that she should pick me up at least from a convenience station (as they are laying on people in the school website about the picking up), she/he ignored my msg. I called the school again, and they gave me Ahmed, that man was sneaky, unprofessional at all, kept escaping from giving me a fixed schedule to start our lessons, till I called him after his shit msg which he said in it "we can start on 2nd of Oct, and be aware this date can also be changed again" , He sent me this msg at 12 AM! I called him and he was almost sleeping, so when I was trying to understand why he is giving me so far precarious date, he yelled at me saying that he has another priorities like the people who are doing the test, so I argument with him that I'm also a student in this school, he kept his disrespectful attitude and was yelling louder and louder saying "that I'm making him nervous and he simply doesn't care and I should call the school for another instructor if I can't handle the changing that he might make in our lessons dates". I called the school at the next day, complained about these asshole instructors, and they simply gave me another one, guess what? he is also ignoring my msg and not responding. Mybe I will finish these lessons in the 2040, and do my G2 test when I'll retire. I really regret wasting my time and money in this school, and the most important thing I'm wasting a lot of energy and nerves on them. Don't believe the high rating, they gave us a printed paper from the first day explaining that we can get extra points when hitting like their fb page, and I won't be surprised if I knew people are doing that for this reason, or simply the owners are writing the good comments and highly rating their own page. read more

All-Star driving isn't pleasant. It isn't particularly didactic. The building is slowly deteriorating, and your teacher will invariably be apathetic. But it is cheap. That's the principal reason why people come here, and your expectations should be set accordingly. Few people learn anything substantive over the four trying days that you spend here, but the instructor is entirely lax about everything; you can bring a book or computer if you think it'll help you pass the time faster. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Yes, this place is cheaper than a lot of other driving schools. And it's cheaper for a reason. I don't even know where to start, but I'll start with saying DO NOT GO HERE and DO NOT send your child here. I am an adult student. This location was most convenient for me, and I figured, what the hell, how bad can it be? Biggest. mistake. ever. The people that work here are completely incompetent. Starting from the receptionist, down to the owner/manager and most importantly, the driving instructors. They make you pay for a package upfront, which is convenient for them as they feel free to provide the worst service you've ever gotten after they get your money. The in-class sessions are useless, taught by unprofessional teachers - mine was a guy who admitted to driving drunk and hit-and-runs. Not to mention the offensive comments in class - making fun of people's drivers license pictures, racist and homophobic remarks. Completely appalling. These in class sessions teach you nothing - you are given the answers to all the questions/quizzes ahead of time. Which is great for 16 year olds who don't want to do the work, but imagine those 16 year olds on the roads...this is why accidents happen. The instructors (I've been through 3, each more incompetent than the last) are the worst of all. They are impossible to reach, they cancel on you all the time and they simply don't reply to texts or calls. They make you coordinate around their schedule and seem to not understand that some people have full-time jobs and aren't available to do lessons whenever is convenient for the instructors. They offer the bare minimum and make you feel like they're doing you a favour by even showing up or booking a lesson. To say this is frustrating is not to say anything at all. Believe me, the extra money you'll spend on a more professional school (like young drivers) will be well worth it. Don't go here. You will regret it. The best driving school experience on the planet. I don't know what the bad reviews are about. My instructor, Alex Fardfini, was a boss. He went above and beyond in every way possible. He was extremely helpful, he was funny and an overall pleasant guy to deal with. He's very direct with his critiques, which helped tremendously when the test actually came. Needless to say, I passed. I won't go into the details, but he did much more than that. If Alex had to fight an army of angry geese barehanded to help you pass your driving test, he probably would. read more

Wow. This driving school is ridiculous with how it prepares their students for their driving tests -- and that is that they DON'T prepare students at all. The standard package is 10 hours of driving lessons plus 20 hours of in-class lessons, with the latter usually offered as consecutive weekends (4 days, 2 weekends, 5 hours each day). Let's start with the class lessons. I didn't learn anything. Now, this might sound far-fetched, because naturally something new is learned everyday by anyone. But I literally learned NOTHING of value from the 20 hours spent in the class. The "instructor" just rambled on about his experiences as a driver and former public transit employee driver, sharing funny stories with impractically helpful morals. The only thing that was remotely educational was the obligatorily played government-issued safety videos -- which you can look up on your own on YouTube or from any MTO-licensed guidebook. Mind you, this package is about half a thousand dollars, and I feel mocked (if not figuratively spat on the face) for having 2 thirds of my time dedicated to hearing jokes and stories. Now, once the dreadful class component was over came the driving lessons. My driving instructor was amicable and nice, but, he can't and shouldn't teach. We spent too much time driving to his "comfortable-to-practice" neighbourhoods (about 30 minutes of the 1 hour sessions), which means we had to cram 50 minutes of practising (the other 10 is dedicated to driving back home) into 30. It never worked. Not to mention, it feels impractical to practise driving in places with virtually no traffic, because on the day of the driving test, you are expected (and will most likely deal with) traffic, since you're usually tested on the main roads. I ended up taking extra lessons to help solidify some of my skills, but we never managed to work on the really important ones. I ended up failing on my first try of my G2 test. My driving instructor tried to console me on the ride home, but never considered the fact that I've got little to no practice on 3-point-turns, curb-parking, parallel parking, or back parking (hardly any parking practise was done, honestly), let alone booking my test during rush hour. He called me the next day asking when to arrange the next extra practice session and test date, to which I clearly responded with a "never." So, to wrap things up: Don't let the testimonials fool you, especially when they're on their own website. Do your research, and find a better driving school. I switched to another driving school and passed on my second try. I won't make any direct disclosures as to where I went, but I definitely will disclose one thing: don't go to ANY All Star Driving School. It'll make yourself happy, and your wallet happy. read more

My daughter enrolled to this class and said the instructor is funny but that's about it. He jokes in the class but not teach properly. The worst part is booking the driving class. You can never find an instructor 2 months after you finish the course and it's getting into winter where you cannot even drive. The school always overbooked the instructor so they could not arrange class with the student. Finally when you get a booking for driving on the road, the instructor was so bad that they didn't even teach. My daughter told me he said absolutely nothing during the whole trip. Just say turn left, turn right in the small roads. After 5 times of learning over another 2 months, my daughter was not taught how to reverse or park properly. Disappointing. read more

This driving school was absolutely horrendous. I would not recommend it at all. The drivers speak with an attitude as if they are God's gift to driving. On the first day, my driving instructor yelled at me stating that he could not teach me unless I learn to relax when I simply asked him about parallel parking after he taught me it for the first time. I'll break my review up into pros and cons for easy reading: + Classroom portion of the experience wasn't horrible + Lax environment (which I guess might not be for everyone but I like that kind of thing) + Cheap - Classroom is stale and old (tolerable at least) - Driving portion of the experience is the actual worst thing I've ever put myself through - The driving instructors are atrocious and none of them know how to adequately communicate with students - Did not feel safe driving around and was not adequately prepared for anything - Numerous bad experiences with more than one member of staff Now that that's out of the way, allow me to elaborate on my experience. The first half of driving school was fairly decent. Sitting in a musty classroom learning the rules of the road is tolerable when it's only for 4 days. The teacher was decently thorough and touched on everything at least briefly which was ok. The process wasn't particularly extravagant but it did the job. Solid 6/10 experience. The second half of driving school was when I finally needed to get into a car. I warned my first instructor, Harry, that it was my first time behind the wheel ever and he assured me it would be fine. First thing he told me to do was to drive down Dufferin and Center, among other busy main roads which was PROBABLY a really really bad idea for someone who's never even done this before and was admittedly vibrating in the seat with fear. Second thing he did was start answering phone calls WHILE I was at the wheel driving on the aforementioned main roads. He would give me occasional instruction that I wouldn't even realize was directed at me since I couldn't tell if he was talking to me or not half the time and get frustrated at my delayed responses. Eventually he hung up the phone on one person only to call yet another person! Something about some kind of phone bill that he was overcharge on or something? Who knows! I couldn't even tell what was going on between him angrily yelling and cussing out the person on the other end, not that the contents of the conversation were of much relevance to my situation. We drove for about 15 minutes to get to a neighborhood with roundabouts that I navigated as he talked on the phone. I eventually did ask him if he should be talking on the phone as I drove around and he assured me that it was fine and that he was totally paying attention. I ended up getting home somehow that day. A week later was my next class. It was raining. Harry never came by and I received no texts or calls saying that class was canceled because it was raining. I wasn't warned that he did that every time it rained either. I wasn't impressed with the blatant disregard he displayed to his job and his students so I switched instructors. Faizal was my second instructor and while he isn't a bad guy (I think), he displayed similar lack of communication to the previous instructor. I wanted to get as much driving done before school started. He told me that he had a week of vacation time sometime that month. He told me it would start "next week" so I wouldn't be able to have my class then. I told him that was ok and said "Ok cool. I'll see you the week after then". Unfortunately, I didn't see him the week after because the guy's vacation actually stretched two weeks and he never corrected me or called me about that either. Fast-forward to the 2nd last week before school. I was hoping to get at least two lessons out of the way that month. Guy calls me the day before my next lesson. "I need to reschedule for tomorrow". I went literally 4 goddamn weeks without a single class due to miscommunication and constant rescheduling and at that point I gave up on this one too. I now still have around 8 classes to complete and I've been trying to switch teachers again for someone more reliable (hopefully). God knows that I likely won't get a good one this time around either but here's hoping I might get pleasantly surprised. TL;DR: Don't go to this school if you value your time and money. Called 2 days ago to their head office and ask about their price match guarantee and told them exactly which other driving school I am comparing with and they said "no problem" just come in the location which is Thornhill at Clark and I went. When I got there they said they don't match with this company as this company charged more after. I brought in a detailed pricing of this company including taxes and they did not even checked it or called the company them self to check. I was told just go there at the other driving school. I would not recommend this driving school particularly the Markham location. You paid the package in advance but your will find it difficult to book the in-car lesson, even you have them booked, the instructor (Navid) always has all sort of reasons to cancel the appointments in the very last minute. Even we have completed all the in-class and in-car lessons, they do not submit the certification to MTO. read more
