if I could give less than one star that would be more appropriate…read more The "salesman" we met with had zero compassion , was brash and so unnecessarily descriptive of the cremation process, we couldn't run away fast enough. The process here was more like buying a used car than arranging a loved ones funeral. From laughing about the EPA and the emissions of the smoke into the air to cutting the organs out for donation and removing the metal so it wouldn't gunk up their machine , prior to the cremation process, and the necessity of a "cardboard box with a paper pillow", you know , because there were issues in Florida without one.... On top of that the pricing was much more than the dignified , compassionate funeral home we ran to ....

As an update to my previous review about being continually billed for Aycock Funeral Home services…read morethat I had already paid in full, the saga continues. In early January during yet another call to Aycock explaining to them the dates when they had already cashed my checks and when they charged my credit card, they apologized and I was told that I wouldn't hear from them again because I didn't owe anything further and it would be taken care of. This was after I had received multiple calls seeking additional payments and multiple bills in the mail seeking additional payment. Today, 2/10/23, around 3 months since I paid in full, I have just received my FOURTH billing statement from Aycock saying that I still owe them over $2700 after paying in full and them acknowledging that fact many times! This is absurd. Do not do business with these people unless you intend on being forever in debt to them regardless of the fact that you already paid! I have emailed my contact information and availability to Laura, who responded to my original review, and today I called her office and left a message with my contact information and availability next week, AND I called the person who wrote up the original contract and took my original deposit. i will update again if there is a satisfactory response, soon.

Very impressed with the planning and execution of the ceremony for our recently departed Uncle , a Korean War Veteran who now rests in the Veterans section. From the beginning meeting to plan the day to actual event perfection in all regards. Being able to facebook live broadcast the event, followed by online viewing for those who couldn't log in then a real plus especially with Covid and many relatives being non Florida residents... Integration of flag presentation was particularly moving and inspirational. Thanks Fernhill for making our memories that much more pleasant . We know Jerry was looking down on the gathering and smiling....

-All County canceled our memorial that had been booked and paid a month before with no explanation…read more THE WEEK BEFORE offering only an earlier less desirable time or another date. WHY? We are a large and spread-out active-duty military family and were scrambling. All County did not return voicemails or emails asking for clarity. WHY? -All Country scheduled LANDSCAPERS, visible and audible from inside the chapel service, cutting trees at the time my family was forced to accept. WHY? Seriously, wtf. -Prayer cards had wrong birth and death dates. (VERY wrong dates, not small ones that could be missed.) When this was pointed out at the service, family members (with the widow of the deceased present) were told "it doesn't matter." WHY? Just remove them and say "We will fix this asap if we can." That such a response was within the boundaries of "acceptable response to guests at a service" is a sign of professional rot. Again, wtf. They are very efficient and the Chapel is a nice setting, but a cavalier attitude toward HUGE mistakes is a sign of professional rot. They will ignore, deflect, and deny until the last minute leaving families floundering. I can only offer a mixed review.

The quality of their service was beyond my expectations. Working with Maureen was so easy and effortless, she really went above and beyond. She went over all of the details, and pricing to great detail. This is not the time of your life you are looking for a value, but this company really was far superior than others in the area. Thank you so much for making this time so hassle free for me.

Created during segregation and founded in 1925, this is the historically black cemetery in Stuart…read more Although it is hard to see from the street, you can find it behind Waters Car Wash. The Moore in the name was Walter G. Moore, who helped several Black churches purchase the cemetery from Eric Schroeder, a local resident who sold real estate. It was first known as the Community Cemetery, and it is believed the first burial was for Lizzie Lattimore, who died on May 18, 1918. The oldest graves date back to the early 1900's. When Moore passed away in 1952 he was buried here too. Through the years more than 200 souls were laid to rest over the four acres here and many of the graves are unmarked. A lot of the records were lost or destroyed. Sadly some of the graves were paved over after a sidewalk that was built along Seville Street The most recent burials were from 2011. The cemetery was deeded to the city of Stuart in 1981, but maintenance was left up to the families. In 1986, Aycock funeral home, operating under the business name Fern Hill Memorial Gardens, purchased the property. A single care taker, Richard McHardy and some local non profits tried to maintain it. Mr. McHardy passed away in 2014 at the age of 98. In 2018 the city stepped in and made necessary repairs. To be respectful to the people already interred here the city decided to limit any future burials to residents of at least five years; people with immediate family living in the area; and people with immediate family buried in the cemetery. It was very interesting discovering and learning about this historic cemetery today. The city has tried to make amends for some of the past injustices that happened here. Today this cemetery is a well maintained, peaceful resting spot for the black pioneers of Stuart.
