This school is awesome! I did not attend here, nor do I have children that do, but I volunteer here often at their events. The staff is so friendly and I've always felt welcome, even when I didn't have a real connection to the school to begin with! My first volunteer experience was at the Santa Workshop one December in 2015. I had to get volunteer hours for my sorority, so I reached out to Ms Porter (now Smith) and Mrs. MacAulay, who are teachers at this school that I've known for quite some time. They invited me to the Santa Workshop on Saturday morning I was home from break. It was so much fun! Normally, I hate being up early (especially on a Saturday on Christmas break), but the energy I felt from this school was so amazing that I genuinely felt like I was working at the North Pole! Basically, the teachers take donations all semester long or spend their money to go pick up some items from the store, then they set up a little "shop" for the children. The parents aren't allowed in the shop and the teachers walk around and help the children shop for their family for Christmas presents! Once the child has made their selections, maybe some gloves or a picture frame, they go to the wrapping station where Santa's elves (teachers from the school) help the children wrap. Usually the school only makes a couple hundred from this event, but it is so fun for the children and it's a great opportunity for parents to socialize with the teachers outside of the normal Monday-Friday. All Saints is an excellent elementary school, I plan to live in Richmond when I have children and I will be sending them to this school and I'm excited to be apart of this community forever! read more
