And what kind of company deals with said non-payment with the mentality of, "If we don't acknowledge them, maybe they'll just go away?" Total bullcrap. Needless to say, I'm never doing work for them again, nor will I bother reading their paper. I have yet to come across a company that has worse business practices. So, thanks for nothing, Metroland.

Long story short, NEVER EVER sign up for their online subscription service. My subscription costed…read morearound $13 for quite a while and honestly, I wasn't using the service all that much so I wanted to cancel. Website under maintenance. Ok, no big deal, I'll try again later. Every time I would try to cancel (tried numerous times over a period of a couple of months), the website was always under maintenance, making it impossible to cancel. It seems like it was only the account portion of the website that was down, everything else worked on the website Then a few months ago, my subscription rate doubled without notification. I eventually did get a notification four days AFTER they banged my credit card, so I contacted customer service requesting a refund and was assured I would receive my refund in 2-4 weeks. 2-4 weeks?? Unreasonable as I get a refund for anything else much faster than these idiots. Multiple emails later claiming they initiated the refund, I have never received it so they lie to your face constantly. At least my subscription is now cancelled but they have my money. Don't make the same mistake I made and avoid this company at all costs.

These complaints re delivery, cancelation are valid and should be addressed. Newspapers all across America and the world are folding and according to surveys it has nothing to do with delivery or content. Primarily it is due more to the 24 hr news cycle on cable and the internet. A population that doesn't read and is only interested in agreeable news doesn't help. Several "fact checking" sites rate the most watched cable outlet as the least reliable for truth in reporting, scary. Your problem will eventually disappear along with the "Free Press". I was on hold for 20 minutes, figuring out after that amount of time, there is no one to answer that phone. We have received the Gazette for approximately 50 years.
