Hiring Ed was a great experience. Not only is he a master at what he does, he's also a genuinely kind human being; not a condescending bone in his body. He was quick to respond to my call, quick to come over, and quick to deliver a quote that accurately reflected the job I needed done. He also kept us in mind and when a previous job cancelled, he slotted us in and started tiling two weeks earlier than we anticipated. During the job he involved us in the decision making process--helping us understand our options if we had to make any stylistic choices--was incredibly flexible, and left the job site clean and tidy at the end of every day. To be honest, I wasn't really sure how the job was going to turn out. I handed him quite the challenge. However, he transformed a nightmare of a DIY job (from years of previous owners) into an absolutely beautiful shower and floor that we will enjoy using for many years to come. Hiring Ed was the best decision I could have made and I won't be able to say enough good things about him. He did a backsplash in our kitche0n which turned out beautifully, then we hired Ed to mix a mess another tile layer did as the grout never hardened in a new shower and tile floor Ed was able to do this job and also he found other problems which he took care of Ed is very meticulous about his work cleans up job area at the end of his day. We had 8 or 9 in home estimates to replace a tub/shower with a walk in shower. Ed was the 3rd tiler to come in and give an estimate. We knew when he left he was probably our guy if we went with tile. We almost got reeled in by a fantastic salesperson and we were on our way to having a plastic shower installed, a last minute pivot brought us back to Ed and a tile shower. We could not have made a better decision. The shower Ed tiled is beautifully done. It has only been a couple of weeks but I still smile when i get in it. The work site was cleaned up daily and Ed was incredibly easy to be around and have in our home. We will use him again in a heartbeat if we have a need. I just had 2 bathrooms in my newly remodeled 1930 East Grand Rapids Tudor home tiled. My house had many challenges from the walls not being not being square, to my handmade tile that was warped, and firing a previous installer who had "completed" the prep work. (I knew upon his prep work that I wouldn't be happy with my installation.) I thought I was stuck in a very bad situation. I realized I needed someone who was up to my challenges, but also was meticulous about their work. I somehow managed to find All Around Tile! Not only was Ed up for my challenge, he kept me informed and talked through every option to ensure I would be pleased. He was incredibly patient with me. I'm very much a perfectionist and I'm not an easy person to work for. Everyday he came with such a positive attitude. Even on the days when things were not moving smoothly due to challenges. It's difficult to find installers and that not only deliver quality work but are genuinely kind and care about their customers. I had some set backs and had to purchase more tile due to the other installer. Ed was so great at showing me options laying out different patterns so I didn't feel like my compromise bathroom was exactly that. He made it look and feel intentional. Almost all of my tile was purchased locally from Virginia tile. I used high end very expensive natural honed marble. For the price I paid the tile should have been better. It wasn't. Ed spent some much time making sure it looked it's absolute best. Another amazing thing about Ed is he schedules himself to only your job through completion. So he doesn't rush to finish, or leave you hanging if your job timeline runs over. This is the ONLY company I hired out where I was the only customer. It's something that deserve separate praise as it's such a piece of mind knowing your job is all that matters until it's finished. I'm sure as a business owner it's not ideal to schedule that way but for a customers satisfaction it was something unexpected and appreciated. My house still has a long way to go and right now I'm shopping for tile so I can schedule Ed to come back for my backsplash in my kitchen. If you are looking for an installer you need someone who is meticulous. A bad tile install can make even the most luxurious tile look terrible. All around tile was not the cheapest of my quotes however the value was well worth not going with the cheap guy. In life you typically get what you pay for. With Ed I got even more! I have two beautiful bathrooms, piece of mind it was installed right, and overall a terrific experience. Thanks Ed! read more
