Don't get taken by Douglas' seemingly friendly demeanor…read more I saw his ad on Amazon Local for $42 vouchers to Newark Airport. But first, I called to assure that the offer would be valid for trip from my town. I suspected he may be shady when he offered the same price if I paid him directly and not purchase vouchers from Amazon Local. He called earlier today to confirm pick up, and to try to sell me multiple "vouchers" for future car rides. I informed him that at this time I was only interested in pick ups to and from airport. In addition, he confirmed that he would honor the advertised price of $42. Then he texted me about five hours before pick up stating that he did not find my voucher. When I called to remind him about our agreement, he informed me that each ride would be $75. At this point I realized Pearl Car Service in Fort Lee is a scam. He quotes one price, waits till the last minute, then increases his price knowing full well that for most, it's difficult to make last minutes arrangements. Douglas is an opportunist. Bait and switch is a game I'm not willing to play. Funny, but I was planning on tipping him about $30 each way. Lost opportunity, lost income, no credibility. In addition, my referral network will place his company on our "Do not engage" list. Don't do business with this unscrupulous car service.

I had what I thought was an unfortunate experience (my one and only) with this company. On Aug 2nd,…read morebooked a ride from the NY Cruise Terminal to Newark Airport - I received an email in response, simply saying "ride requested" and detailing the terms. We were on a cruise, and having not heard anything, about 4 days before our scheduled pickup on Sept. 19th, I emailed to ask about a confirmation since I had hear nothing. The reply was that they were unable to provide the requested service, which left me scrambling to find alternate transportation. I have no record of them (Matt) attempting to contact me prior to my inquiry to let me know that I did not have the requested ride, and it seems to me that they should provide reasonable advance notice.

I booked online on their website on June 29th, and received a confirmation email. My ride was going to be from Elizabeth, NJ to the Manhattan cruise port on September 4th, this upcoming Labor Day. I was advised in the NJRide confirmation email, that as it got closer to my travel date, they would assign a driver. On August 24th, I received an email that NJRide could not accommodate my request for a ride, because it was a holiday weekend, and they were fully booked. There was no notification that they were fully booked before this email. I knew it was a holiday, which is why I booked in June, over 2 months before I needed the ride. If everything was already fully booked on June 29, why wasn't I immediately notified of this fact. This Company notified me almost 2 months after my car reservation confirmation mail, and 1 1/2 weeks before my trip, that they would not be able to provide the service. This is very unfair. No apology or explanation at all. I get that things happen (no drivers, company turmoil, website issues, etc), but at the very least be courteous and professional enough to apologize or explain when you have clearly dropped the ball. I should have read past the positive reviews of NJRide to other reviews where other customers have had this same problem with this company. This company is not dependable.
