When I picked her up to pet her, I realized she had a huge gash under her belly that was infected. I called multiple rescues before finding All About Cats. Lisa & her daughter(I believe they are volunteers) were very kind to me, provided information about the process and acknowledged me as a human being which I appreciate so much. I met a precious cuddle bug, Macie, who I fell in love with. Unfortunately, my family and I aren't ready for a furry family member at this time because we travel often. So I returned to ask about what type of food the cats eat to drop off a donation. Sadly, only one woman acknowledged me. Maybe the staff feels overwhelmed, sadden by the reality of a shelter. I volunteer so I understand and have patience but it was an uncomfortable experience. Imagine how speaking to potential adopters and educating some of the cats personalities, etc could help them find forever homes with good people. Dont have much to complain about. I think for a cheap and safe spay/neuter experience this place is great. Cost $150 upfront and vaccines, meds, and nail clipping is included. My cat had his neutering procedure done recently and he did fine. He was stumbling around for the first day (expected) but today he's back to his wonderful normal self. That being said, whomever worked on this did a great job. The procedure for him was also, again, cheap. No cones necessary apparently according to the staff. My issue was that I wasn't given any post discharge instructions. Even something as simple as "he's good to go he can eat" would have helped. Anyways ended up calling just to confirm because I am a first time pet "owner" (I don't like that term). This place most likely gets a lot of calls which can be frustrating for them I'm sure but I wish the staff was just a tad bit more friendly. Place is located in the back of clinic in a trailer. Parking is limited so please beware. Make sure you call ahead of time and you will be given a time slot between which you should show up. Knock on the door and wait for someone to respond or just call if no one does. Neuter procedure is super quick :) read more

On Sunday Oct 31, 2021, we just adopted our second cat. 2 month old female kitten Maisy. We went their on Sunday to get our other recently adopted Kitten Kodi's nails clipped that we got from All About cats as well. They always have a great selection of cats. The staff are always very friendly, caring and knowledgeable about the cats they have. I am glad we were able to give a good home to 2 kittens that were in need of a loving family. On 12/29 I went into this establishment looking to adopt 2 kittens. I was shown jack and his sister Sally. I played with jack the entire time I was there and interacted with Sally as well. I left for a minute to get cash for the adoption fee upon return I was told they actually weren't available. I found it odd but mistakes happen and the person who appeared to be in charge was very apologetic. I was told to come back on 12/30 after 4 because they were getting 40 new kittens from Georgia. I did just that. Upon arrival I saw a couple of kittens and one that I was absolutely in love with. Although she was in the room of ready kittens I was told she was not ready. Then I was told adoptions were over for the day even though I was told to come at that time. I was told to call back the next day. Again I followed directions and did just that that. The person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about and put me on hold. The person she was speaking to said "the girl keeps coming back but we don't like her..." then the phone went on mute. I'm confused as to what exactly they didn't like seeing as though they never really spoke to me except to give me the run around. My children were very excited about our kitten coming home. I have everything prepared and just want to give a kitten a home. But they decided that I wasn't good enough. It's sheer discrimination. I'm a professional black female not like any of the clientele that I saw. I have my own home and plenty of space and love. I'm truly heart broken. She is very rude, does not follow up if your appointment gets cancelled by their "vet tech" in the back (who doesn't do x rays, blood work or any work) and this place is INFESTED with fleas. Be very careful if you go here. The neuter I got here caused my kitten get a infection (see attached photos) and they did not take responsibility and would not even see my kitten for a follow up. After an absolutely devastating experience at North Shore Animal League we were afraid to adopt again. We had our cat from NS for 20 yrs and when he past in January we knew we wanted yo adopt again. August 9 we adopted an 8wk old kitten from NS. She was beautiful. However the next few days were a nightmare. The poor little baby was very sick 24 hrs after we brought her home. I will spare the details but our new baby spent a few days at the hospital and had to be euthanized. NS missed the signs that she was sick and told us she was a picky eater. Not the case. She was already showing signs of illness when we took her home. In order to heal our broken hearts we decided to adopt again but we refused to go back to NS even though we could have saved the 200.00 adoption fee. My friend recommended All about Cats. I called Cindy and she was so caring. She felt terrible about the experience we just went through. We came to the Freeport cattery and everyone was absolutely the best. We spent as much time as we wanted with each kitty we were thinking about adopting. You could tell that the people there were very in tune with the kittens and cats there. Such a cozy , loving environment. We picked out our new baby and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her. She is healing our broken hearts each day. She is beautiful and we are so so happy to have found this place. Great experience and they do offer some of the same services that the bigger places do. Our home is again a pet's home and we couldn't be more grateful to have her. We saved her, but she also saved us!!! This place is wonderful. It is evident as soon as you walk in that the staff care so much about all of their kitties. Every person we spoke with was patient with us as we explored, and very knowledgeable and helpful when we had lots of questions about different kitties. They were so nice and helpful. It was great to see so many cats able to roam free, and those with medical needs being specially attended to. Adoption fees are very reasonable and often include initial clinic stop. All About Cats goes to great lengths to rescue at-risk cats and kittens and find good homes for them. We are just happy we can provide a home for a couple of adorable cuties from here! read more

We recently adopted a wonderful little red kitten from All About Cats, and we couldn't be happier with our new addition to our family. He gets along fine with his 'older brother' (a beautiful gray kitten that we adopted in the spring) and he seems happy and healthy. This place was really disorganized. We walked in and they didn't greet us or acknowledge us for a good ten minutes. We felt really awkward and didn't know if we were even allowed to be in there. The kitties were just wandering around unsupervised, one even almost got out when we were there because there's no one watching them. We were interested in a particular cat and they could not tell us much of anything about any of them. We asked some questions and the girl literally just ignored some of them, saying "she didn't work there much". Two of the ladies there were not even wearing masks at all, and blatantly talking to us without them. An adopter was wearing his mask under his Chin. I felt very unsafe, besides the fact that the place was really dirty, i did not feel like they cared if any of those cats got adopted. I didn't have any questions answered or any piece of mine, and those poor cats did not look clean or happy. It was a shame. We left there and went to north shore animal league and it was literally a world of difference. They were professional and courteous and actually knew about their cats, as well as COVID protocols. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The staff was incredibly unfriendly, rushed me to buy a kitten, and we're very judgmental. I purchased a kitten for a hefty price of $150, which is a lot for a shelter, but that is because they add a spay/neuter fee into their price. And I didn't realize at first, but my kitten was very sick. She had a cold, which spread to my older cat as well. The first dose of medicine I got from the shelter (because they told me they'd cover the cost of medicine if I was given a sick kitten) did not work completely, so both of my cats got sick again. The second dose finally worked after about 2 weeks of trying to get rid of it. I thought I was in the clear, but it turned out that my kitten had FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), which is a fatal disease that has no cure. All of a sudden her stomach became incredibly distended from the fluid build up, and her temperature was at 105 degrees. I had to put her down because watching her deteriorate was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. She was 5 months old. I had only had her for 3 months. I would never go back to this place. If you go there, please pay attention to how many of those cats are sick. I am sure I am not the only person who has dealt with these issues from this shelter, and it makes me concerned for the other 50+ cats they have there, because they are clearly not cared for properly. read more

When cheap is expensive: On 1/3/20 two feral cats came back with two additional names (ie AKA...) attached to their medical forms, they trim feral cats' nails and they don't cover the traps although covers were (obviously) provided when the cats were transported to the clinic. I went to this place since sounds like a specialized shelter for cats. I have 2 cats in the house and wanted a little friend for them. I walked in and told a lady I wanted to know the process for adoption. I felt that instead of encouraging me to adopt a pet, she was trying to find a reason to tell me that I can not adopt. She was not nice, not kindness at all in the place. She asked me my age, if I own or rent, then she asked me if I am an American citizen (which I am not, I am a permanent resident) and she said no, you can't adopt. I understand those questions are factors they need to know to see if I am good match, but they didn't even ask me my name, why I want to adopt, where do I live? Where do I work or how long I've been in America. The conversation did not last more than 3 minutes. Based on the manner she was talking to me I figured she just wanted me to leave since the moment I got there. I am not sure if the attitude she gave me was for me being spanish. But If you are trying to give cats a home, you should encourage people to get them and take care of them. Instead of closing the doors of your shelter to possible families maybe you should take your time and talk to the person who is showing interest and come out with solutions instead of obstacles. You can explain people why it is necessary to meet requirements in order to adopt. But I can't find an explanation for you to provide a terrible service to someone interested. I just hope they treat cats better than the way they treat humans. I kind of feel sorry for them! read more

DO NOT ADOPT OR BRING YOUR CAT HERE!!! I recently went out of state for 5 days and did not have any one to take care of my cat while gone. I made the unfortunate decision to leave her at this shelter (where I adopter her from). They charged me 20$ a night, which was no problem, but little did I know that my cat would catch a respiratory infection while staying there. (She also had one when I adopted her from here, along with fleas, but thought it was normal for newborn kittens). She had a 106 degree fever only a day after picking her up and had to pay around 2,000$ in medical fees just to have her treated. The veterinarian made us sign a waiver giving them right to resuscitate her in an event that she would need it! My heart absolutely broke! After speaking to the pharmacist when I picked up her antibiotics, she had mentioned that her cat was also adopted from this shelter and also had a respiratory problem. You can also see in other reviews that I'm not the first to have an issue like this. If you want to adopt a cat or need to have your cat taken care of AVOID THIS PLACE!! read more
