I used the equipment without knowing this because there was no sign to say it was out of order. the machine took my money, and when I went to explain this to the staff, they started huffing and puffing and acting like it was my fault. One of ladies (staff) started shouting at me and making threatening comments. Absolutely horrified that people are allowed to work in yhe service industry. Disgusted that no action will be taken against the individual who treated us with such rudeness and disrespect.

Inside things are perfectly clean and orderly, in fact it betrays the impression its exterior gave me. I absolutely love it when post offices combine being a post office with selling odd little items too, some of which have nothing to do with post or stationary. Stockport Road Post Office is a prime example for this. Here, not only can you post a parcel, but you can also buy confectionary, insoles for your shoes, cigarettes behind the counter and Daz washing powder. Excellent. The staff are pleasant and well-presented and the queue moves quickly so that despite the lack of those self-service machines which I love so much, I'm sending my parcel within just a few minutes of walking in.

It is housed as part of a Manchester Souvenirs and News store. When the Post Office first opened, I noticed a lot of teething issues, such as being closed during opening hours or the staff being poorly trained to deal with basic services such as posting letters, however, since then, they've improved. With the main Crown Post Office closing on Spring Gardens, this store has done a good job in preparing their staff for the closure with extra support and training, yet I do feel there is more to do - there is regularly only one staff member working the Post Office, even at busy times. I understand being just a counter as part of a larger newsagents, it is difficult to find the space, but it would be great if they could reduce the waiting times, or perhaps even install the self-service machines, similar to what we see at other Post Office locations. They are open until 18:00 with the last collection for mail during the week at around 17:15 - this is pretty standard for a Post Office, however there are many other nearby Post Offices open later with Deansgate closing at 21:30 and Arndale closing at 23:00 during the week. I'm not a big fan of the newsagents which generally sell overpriced drinks and cheap tat/souvenirs, however, the staff are generally friendly and the location is especially handy for me as I don't need to carry larger parcels into and around town after getting off the bus at Shudehill. 3*

Hazel Grove Post Office is located inside Asda, I do find the location to be rather unusual as it…read moreis in the annex of an Asda store, it is close to the tobacco/stationary/book areas, it feels like it's apart of the store when it's actually a separate Post Office which ASDA operate. The opening hours are pretty good, much better than the location in the town centre as the Post Office stays open until 6 pm Monday to Saturday, although it is closed on Sunday's, even though the main ASDA store is open. The queuing system could be better organised as people were queuing from both sides so it was a bit of a mess, this is why I prefer the ticket system which larger crown post offices have, or the self-serve postage machines, the latter is in use at the nearby Post Office in Stockport but not here. The staff didn't seem too friendly, she just seemed to do my return without saying anything to me, I did have to stretch through the gap slightly to get my receipt which she just left, she seemed more eager to serve customers fast rather than make any general conversation or even explaining the process (For example as she randomly left her desk with my parcel) 3* - Still a reliable Post Office location which is the best Post Office in the Stockport area in terms of opening hours, it can be a little messy, and it is hard to find at first, the service could be better but it is OK here. I would return but only on the basis of the opening hours.

When I first entered, it felt more like a card shop than a Post Office, the selection of greetings cards was very large which is unusual for a Post Office. They had barriers in place for queuing which again I feel were an unnecessary obstacle given the fact this particular location never seems to get too busy. I do think it could have been laid out slightly better. They have a good number of services/facilities on offer, the weekend opening hours are pretty poor, closing at noon on Saturday and then being closed until 8:30 on Monday, however during the week the opening hours are slightly more generous than most, opening until 6 pm. The staff seemed friendly enough, I was in and out quickly and managed to do what I needed to do. 3* - Not too bad.

There's no car-park -- you have to park on the road outside -- but the road is quite wide so that's not too much of a problem, and at least you can get quite close. The service always seems to be friendly and efficient, even when there are queues -- which can happen here as it gets surprisingly busy at peak times. Places like this make you appreciate the added value of a small local place rather than the big impersonal giants that have flooded every other market. Crown Post Offices are a dying breed now - it seems almost every Post Office is now becoming a…read moresmall kiosk in a newsagents or similar style store, this is one of the few good remaining Post Offices remaining. This is a large branch, on Spring Gardens which is just off Market Street. It has a ticketed queuing approach, where you get a ticket and wait for them to call your number, I much prefer this to the standard queuing as it means you can sit down, relax without squabbling over your place in the queue. There is also a good number of self-service postage machines (These are great but not ideal as they don't include all services such as if the postage is pre-paid). The staff here are pretty friendly and service is quick enough, this is a huge benefit over the smaller Post Offices around the city centre located in Manchester Souvenirs and News stores, as it can be hit and miss whether you get served quickly or not - the staff always seem to take more care at this location too. It can be cheaper to pre-pay your postage online depending on the service being used. I don't understand the logic behind this, especially if you have to visit a Post Office anyway to post the parcel and/or generate proof of posting. 4* - A very good Post Office location, yet working on transparency between pricing through all payment methods and adding services to the self-service postage machines to make it quicker, and confusion-free would be a huge improvement again.

And…read moreoften I found myself here having to post things off while I was working at Spinningfields, so once I'd jostled through the crowds the last thing I wanted was apocalyptic queues whilst standing like a lemon with my parcel. Thankfully, this is a particularly large post office. It sells what you'd expect - envelopes, stationery, stamps, the works, but with a great many kiosks it means you're never waiting a ludicrously long time to get rid of your items. The staff are helpful too, I was talked through the ins and outs of how many stamps I should put on a card to enable it to reach Fuerteventura, for instance. Its location just next to the Tesco Metro makes it a very handy stopping off point if you happen to be in town. I worked this out when I had to head here today to post off a box and a letter, both recorded delivery. I'm around a mile from a Post Office, no matter what direction I walk in. The shop opposite my apartment building closed down a long time ago, and now I'm at the mercy of Mocha Parade (gimme me flamin' giro), Soviet, sorry, Salford Precinct (Gorky Park) and this. This is my default. I'd like to take a moment to announce that I'm a dumbass as well. Ticket systems? Lost on me. I become like a doddering old grandmother that's been handed an iPod for the first time. Don't worry, this happens at cheese counters and in hospital queues too. Small ballots of paper bewilder me. Anyway, I realised that I shouldn't have sauntered past the friendly-looking bloke stood next to the ominous looking machine. And the lady who handled my parcels was super friendly. The staff are friendly here, and despite having just one staff member working at the time of my visit, she appeared to be very fast and efficient and got customers in and out quickly with a good level of service and knowledge. While I would have preferred at least two clerks working and/or the self-service postage machines, it is certainly ample for a smaller Post Office in this location. There is both street parking nearby and a small parking lot, however, the latter is shared by other nearby businesses on Parr Lane so it rarely has spaces. I would also advise you to plan your visit outside of school hours, due to the proximity to the nearby school, the area can become a little unpleasant. 4*

Railway Road Post Office is the closest Post Office currently open in Leigh town centre (The branch…read moreinside Spinning Gate Shopping Centre remains closed during the UK government lockdown as it is inside a Ryman store), it is a short walk away from the town's main shopping area and bus station. It feels like the priority is making it a newsagent first with some overpriced items, rather than a Post Office, the store feels cramped and not very pleasant. The store doesn't offer as many facilities as a larger Post Office, but you can still withdraw and deposit cash into your bank account, and post parcels. I'm glad this store is open on Sunday's as that's the most useful place about this Post Office, I do think they shut a little early at 5 pm during the week, closing half an hour earlier on Saturday's and another half an hour early on Sunday's again. There isn't a Post Box outside which is a little annoying. I wish the Post Office in the town centre would open again, as this location is less than ideal, I also don't think the service is as throughout or professional as you'd get from a Crown Post Office or even one located inside another store.

There are car parks around the town which are pay and display and a good bus service, also you can park for up to 30/40 mins on Railway Road in the designated spaces. The shop front is attractive and clean and clearly displays the post office logo. The window displays are relevant and attractive. Inside the shop is clean, spacious and well maintained. There is a photocopier for use at a small cost and cards, sweets, small gifts and packaging products etc are available at a reasonable cost. The counter is at the rear of the shop and offers a good range of services, it is always well staffed and is a very popular post office that is very much appreciated in the area. The staff are very helpful, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The post office is serving the local community well and we are very fortunate to have it as the main post office in Leigh can be a trek and quite busy. One of my favourite post offices I can Highly Recommend Railway Road Post Office in Leigh.
