Alix Landman is a dietician who despite being merely a dieticians seems to think she knows better than medical professionals and doctors.
I sought her out due to the fact that I have been experiencing GI issues for months that caused me to lose a massive amount of weight. I was hoping like how other reviews claimed, she helps people who experience GI issues figure what their cause is and heal themselves.
However, my experience proved otherwise.
During the session, she randomly told me to stop eating gluten despite the fact that I told her that I do not react to gluten and didn't have celiac disease. She said something along the lines of "we don't know how you react if don't stop eating gluten" which I found kinda absurd with how debilitating my symptoms were there is not way it would simply come from gluten intolerence, I find the notion that not not eating gluten would help me if I didn't have celiac disease.
I did forget to tell her I did go gluten free in the past before after I was tested for celiac and It didn't make a difference. But I went gluten free again anyways and it didn't make a difference like before.
She then sold me supplements, a multivitamin, some probiotic and digestive enzymes called "digestzymes." Instead of asking my doctor about taking Digestzymes, I made a bad decision of blindly trusting Alix Landman and taking the Digestzymes for 9 days before each meal. They did not help me and instead increased my feeling of pressure and eventually ended up causing me reflux and pain at my ears for a couple of days. One provider at my general practitioner's office had to give me Pantoprazole to take for a month because of that.
Then in the next session, she claimed that my issues were all because of black mold. Something to do with "mold toxicity" I admit she sounded very convincing, she said that mold in my house was the cause of all my issues, and claimed that she saw lots of young men like me be affected by it. It sounded very scary and convincing. She had me check out a website called "surviving mold" and showed me a test to take called a VCS test. It is some test that tests the visual contrast ability of your eyes. It supposedly shows if I am being affected by mold or not as it would affects my cognotive abilities. She played the sympathy card asking me "don't you want your life back" I of course said yes as I was in really desperate times, she said that I would need to be seen by some team in Nova University and by some person named Irena Rozenfield. She gave me the phone number of this team and told me to make an appointment with them. She claimed that they would be the people to help me. After the session was done, I did end up calling them and they emailed me some appointment package to complete for the appointment.
I also did the VCS test which the website makes me pay 15 dollars in which a month later I got an email recommending me that I take it every month to assess the visual contrast ability of my eyes which immediate set up red flags.
This is where things felt off, the papers had checklists of what medical conditions I had and what symptoms I had. But in the papers, the words "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" kept coming up. I looked up what it was online and it was some condition where people have chronic fatigue with very little physical activity done that is not improved by rest. This isn't even what I had, my symptoms are entirely to do with my GI system, nothing to do with other parts of my body or any other issue involving fatigue besides July where I was malnourished with vitamins that was solved with B12 shots my doctor's office provided me with.
I decided to look up this "mold toxicity" thing online and discovered that there is an entire population in the functional medicine industry that think that claim that black mold causes a whole bunch of symptoms, mainly neurological and physical. None of which I have. They often describe cognitive issues like memory problems, lightheadedness, head aches, even supposed seizures and stuff like that. They also describe physical problems like joint aches and fibromyalgia in general. I am not having these symptoms what so ever and was evaluated by a neurologist who found nothing neurologically wrong with me. I then later found out Ritchie Shoemaker, the maker of the website was a scammer who was disciplined for telling his patients to inject themselves with veterinary drugs.
She still kept trying to convince me to go and messaged me warning that my doctors are not "trained to look at you as a whole and find the root cause" She couldn't be more wrong as the NP overseeing my case have been looking at me as a whole and successfully digging into my root cause.
She assumed that because I lived in a mobile home, it was automatically moldy and thus was causing my issues. I would not recommend, as she will probably tell you your issues are caused by mold if you have a hard to diagnose condition. read more
