Look, I am sure the team is full of nice, good people, but the work this company does is well below average. I work in an office building that started using Alison's several months ago, and wow do I wish they hadnt made the switch. They do not clean, they simply come in, change the garbages, then leave. When they change the garbages, they just throw the new bag in the trash can, so the second you put one piece of trash in, the entire bag falls to the bottom. They do not wipe counter tops. They do not sweep. They will leave a mess because they simply do not check if there is a mess. To top it off, the restrooms constantly have urine on the toilet seats from who knows how many days prior. No soap. No paper towels. Disappointed. read more

Had to cancel service after 2 cleanings. 90 dollars is just to much to clean a 1 bedroom 750 sq foot apartment. I should have been concerned when it only took 30 minutes to do the initial clean for 150. I had the same cleaners for years in California for a 2 bedroom house and it was half the cost. I even felt so bad I'd always leave a generous tip. Also, they just charged me for my initial cleaning that was almost 3 weeks ago on top of my most recent clean last week. Weird. The 2 stars are for the cleaning crew, very friendly. I wish it would have worked out value wise. read more

Alison's cleaning has always done a really nice job for us. I have their service set up such that their ladies come twice a month . Alison's cleaning also cleans our entire condo building and they have communicated really well with the president of our association. We are totally comfortable having them in our home even when we are not there. They bring their own equipment and always do a excellent job, the house looks really nice when they are done. They are reliable, they always come when they are scheduled, and if for some reason we have to reschedule (e.g if we have been away for a few weeks so the house doesn't need cleaning) they are easy to reach and perfectly willing to reschedule. Whoever I speak to on the phone from their office has been wonderful, always helpful to accommodate us. The price is beyond fair for the service we get .We are very happy with their service; no complaints at all. We recommend their service. read more

My husband is a first responder and between making sure he has the support he needs from me and homeschooling my 3 children, she has been able to work around our schedule to ensure we have a safe and clean home. I had a great experience with Alison's cleaning. I needed some last minute cleaning done and when I called them they reserved my spot and came by the next day for an estimate. The owner was very friendly and I could tell she cared about customer satisfaction. She was through my place lickety split and I had a quote in a few hours. The price was good and gladly accepted it. The cleaners came the next day on time and did a fantastic job. This was the easiest process. Friendly and thorough cleaners. Professional management and fast service. Oh yeah all for a decent price. Couldn't ask for anything more. Will definitely use them again in the future. read more

I have no absolutely no idea how anyone can rate Alison's Cleaning as less than five stars, unless it relates to cost. I moved into my North Loop condo in June, & I'm pretty confident that the sellers never swept or mopped their floor. Being the lazy cleaner that I am, I did the bare minimum after I moved in & over the last few months, but the grime finally got to me & I decided to splurge on a professional cleaning of my condo. Alison was incredibly prompt responding to my inquiry & visited my home within 48 hours of my initial contact. Our visit took roughly 15 minutes & I was quoted what I would consider a pretty high price point, but that's because I'm accustomed to what my dad pays to have his four bedroom house in the suburbs cleaned ($120). Despite the price point, I respected Alison's customer service so much that I decided to give a home cleaning a try. Alison was friendly at our consultation & more importantly, she made the visit personal by noticing my Chicago Blackhawks memorabilia & making a connection to my love for Chicago. It probably sounds cheesy, but that type of effort goes a long way with me; I don't just feel like another paycheck for her but a true customer. Any way, Alison had a cancellation in the same week that she had my consultation so she fit me in. I'm not comfortable permanently providing keys to my home, so she offered to let me drop my keys at her office the day of my cleaning, & the team would leave my keys on my counter upon completion of the job. Again, another "personal touch" that went a long way with me. I arrived home after work the day of my cleaning to a SPOTLESS floor. Her team was able to get the dust & dirt that I thought was permanently wedged into the floorboards completely cleaned up. It's been one week since my cleaning & my floors are STILL spotless, despite the fact that I have had visitors over who refused to take their shoes off at the front door (ugh). In addition, her team was able to get the mold & mildew in my shower completely cleaned up! This was a job that I had tried three times to do myself, AND that my condo appraiser back in June had told me would take a professional contractor to take care of. Basically, this cleaning job saved me a couple hundred bucks on re-grouting & re-sealing my entire shower. I honestly can't think of one negative thing to say about this experience except that I wish it was a little more gentle on my pocketbook so I could afford to have Alison stop by once per month. Totally worth the money; I'll definitely have Alison come over every 6 - 8 weeks to keep my floors spotless. I really can't believe how well they are holding up!! read more

Alison's Cleaning is not thorough. They don't make good on the promise of what they will clean. We have used them 3 times for a 2 bedroom apartment, and they barely vacuum, hardly move any furniture, and have never dusted a single vent. There is no attention to detail for the price you are paying. On top of that, they damaged property, and didn't even fully clean in the way we paid for and left the damaged property, with glass shards around our apartment. We will not be using them again and will actively advise people against it if our friends and family ask for cleaning service recommendations. read more

We used Alison's Cleaning for almost a year when we lived in Minneapolis. Mainly because they were the only cleaning service vetted with our building. We had a few negative experiences with this company. We received very poor customer service from Ellie on several occasions. Very snippy and short when emails were actually answered. We also received sub par cleaning, which granted we did address with Alison (who by the way is very polite) and were refunded for it. The icing on the cake, and what prompted me to write this review is we scheduled a move out cleaning on 8/31 and we were JUST charged today, 10/20. Seems to me they are disorganized and forgot to charge in a timely manner which in my opinion is basic customer service. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 is because Alison herself is very nice and professional. I wish we could have dealt with her all the time. read more

We've been using them for more than a year now in St. Paul. I wanted to give it at least a year before writing any review, since with a cleaning service you'll inevitably have some ups and downs. I also wanted to give some time for my expectations to adjust to having my house cleaned at all for the first time. After a year+, I think we chose very wisely with Alison. I looked hard for a cleaning service that wasn't one of those franchised-in-every-city kind of things, but was also large enough to be "legit" and reliable. Alison came out to do the initial estimate--super-friendly, very courteous, and easy to deal with for a newbie to having my house cleaned. The crews have mostly been excellent. There was just one time when I happened to be working from home, and came home mid-day and was displeased. My timing away from the house was such that there was no way the crew had put in the expected time, and portions of the house had been done very poorly, if at all. I still don't know what happened, but the good part of this story is that I emailed Alison, and within two hours she was back out at my house with one member of the two-woman crew who had been there earlier. She confirmed my assessment, and the woman returned later that day to finish the job right. That's the way to run a business and keep happy customers. I feel like I'm getting good value for the money and I hope the business prospers. read more

I had knee surgery in October so I had to line up a house cleaning service for at least six months until I can clean house again. I called Alison's Cleaning and spoke to Brittany (office manager) to set up an appointment. On Tuesday, November 4th, Alison Neumann Lundy (the owner) came out to my house in Plymouth to give me a cleaning estimate. She told me that I should receive an estimate from her staff that same day or the next day. I had to call Alison's office back on Thursday, 11/6/14 to see where the estimate was and was given an excuse by Brittany of how she hadn't gotten to it yet but would send. I received the cleaning proposal later that same day and reviewed it. I called and spoke to Brittany the next day (Friday, 11/5/14) to line up bi-weekly cleaning services. I also had to provide my credit card number for billing. Brittany told me at that time that I was set up to have cleanings starting on 11/12/14 and again on 11/26/14 which was great because I was relying on those cleanings for Thanksgiving visitors. I called Brittany on 11/11/14 to ask her what time the cleaning crew was coming for the next day and was told at that time that they had lost a worker and she didn't think they could come to clean that week. I told her that I was desperate to have some cleaning done for Thanksgiving and asked if she could please have someone come out the following week. She promised me - yes promised me - that she would have someone out to clean for me on Friday, 11/21/14. She said that I was already in the schedule. Today, I went into my email (11/17/14) to check messages and received the following email from Brittany: Elly, We appreciate you considering us for your cleaning needs. At Alison's cleaning we pride ourselves on providing each client with exceptional service. With that being said we do not feel at this time we would be able to provide you with that exceptional service because of our current staffing and scheduling levels. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and we really appreciate you considering us. Brittany Block, Operations Manager, Alison's Cleaning I've tried calling other cleaning services and no one now has any openings to clean for me before Thanksgiving. I cannot even tell you how angry and upset I am about the poor communication this company has had with me. If they would have told me earlier that they couldn't do the job for me, I would have moved on and found someone else to help me out. I hired Alison's cleaning to do a deep clean of my house before I put it in on the market for sale. They did an exceptional job. Alison came to do an estimate and clearly indicated what would be included in the cleaning and how long it would take. The cleaning staff was meticulous. Every area was taken care of, from the baseboards to the inside of the refrigerator. Each person on staff that I've spoken with has been friendly, helpful and professional. I will be using them for my regular house cleaning as well. read more

Quite a few of my neighbors use Alison's Cleaning, and after meeting with Alison, it was easily apparent why - she is top notch. One reviewer mentioned that she had an issue with scheduling - which, given she's a new client that they are trying to weave into a schedule, I totally understand. Alison's people have been completely transparent and honest if there is a problem - a rarity these days. The customer service is great, but how about the cleaning? The cleaning is wonderful...everything looks like new and they are INCREDIBLY meticulous. If I could justify weekly service, I would...but biweekly is enough to keep my place meticulous. I've used Alison's for a little more than a year now. However, recently I was in the hospital for a two months stretch. While I was in the hospital I emailed with Alison's and asked them to do a disinfectant cleaning. She said she would get back to me with details and that she would clean Monday or Tuesday. Monday I hear from Alison's and they quote me a $300 disinfectant cleaning, three times the price of my normal cleaning, requiring I move furniture around or else they would have to disinfect around the furniture. This cleaning was to take place the next day. I wrote them and and asked if it was too late to cancel the cleaning to change the cleaning to a regular cleaning. Alison herself wrote me back and stated that if I canceled my cleaning I would be charged a cancellation fee because they require 48 hours notice. However, they only quoted me the price 24 hours before. I made it clear that not only could they not do this because we didn't have a contract terms in place for this cleaning, but that it would be illegal for them to do this. Alison rather than admit her mistake, mentioned possible confusion but then turned it back on me, claiming that the emails were quite clear. I assure you not a single email was sent with a price quote prior to the day before the supposed cleaning and less than 48 hours. At worst this was a predatory and opportunistic practice, at best this was sloppy and poor customer service. I am still giving them three stars because when they did clean they generally did a good job minus a couple of times that they didn't clean the shower and left random cleaning products in my home. read more

We love Alison's Cleaning! We have been clients for over a year, and I can't imagine choosing another service. In fact, today Alison's went "above and beyond" by changing their scheduled visit, because we had an unexpected conflict: I'm sure this was a tremendous hassle, considering all the pieces that have to be put in place for our bi-monthly cleaning.
