The next day we would transfer to the Venice Cruise Terminal to board the Norwegian Jade for an adventure that would lead us to Dubrovnik (Croatia), Athens, Izmir Turkey, Split (Croatia) and back. Adult beverages can be expensive on a Cruise Ship, so Erin, Jim, Gayle, and I decided that we should stop at a local grocery store and stock on wine. A little cheese and bread for the room would also be a good idea. So we walked over to this Punto Market and stocked up for a total of 2 cases at very reasonable prices. For the most part, the wine was all good, or at least good enough. We were warned in the Norwegian literature that there would be a per-bottle corkage fee for anything we brought on board. It was also a lot of weight to schlep around. Yet, the economics were still in our favour and we wanted the convenience of enjoying a glass of wine in our rooms or on our small deck overlooking the water. We didn't hide our purchases either. Yet, no bottle count or corkage fees occurred. That turned out to be a double bargain. So here's our toast to the Punto Simply Market that helped make our Cruise so enjoyable.

This is a nice grocery store, and I was told that it's the "good" grocery store in the area. It's…read morekinda weird because it's attached to a mall, so you can literally get a shopping basket and walk with your groceries through the mall. Also, you need a euro to get a basket, so make sure you have change. But you get it back when you return your cart. We were able to pick up some groceries and other household necessities. They have a big selection of food, including frozen food. There's also a section for toys and kids clothes.

This is the Italian version of Aldi's. A medium sized store that has limited selection, and items…read morein boxes rather than on shelves. The prices are all a fraction of the cost of what's found in Venice proper. Wines for under 2 euro, eggs for a euro a dozen, meats, cheeses, dairy products, Molotov vodka, and even gardening supplies and kitchen consumables. It's less than a mile from the Crowne Plaza, and is a great way to beat the mini-bar prices.
