Disclaimer, this review may be biased by years of awesome memories…read more Every Christmas eve me and my mates congregate on the King for a traditional curry. Now in our tenth year, little has changed besides the tablecloths. You can expect friendly service, cheap main courses, decent menu covering all the classics and a free 1/3 shot of Baileys (or generic brand) Irish cream when you're done. It's bring your own booze which adds to the value for money (News and Booze just up the street or the garage across the road should have you covered) and seems to stay open reasonably late. For me this is a standard cheap curry house done well. I love it.

Valentines night I had my usual stuffed mushroom starter and my partner had mixed tandoori girl. Both dishes were tasty served with fresh salad For main he had a combination dish chicken and lamb. I don't recall names but he wolfed it down along with lemon chilli rice and chips. I had talapia fish, with mushroom rice and a bullet nan. My fish portion was huge cooked to perfection in a fragrant delicate sauce. The bullet nan hit the spot with fresh chopped chilli and garlic The bill came with complementary after 8 mint and a shot of something similar to baileys. An altogether very enjoyable meal with attentive staff happy to pamper to our every need. Would recommend if your ever in town have a meal here.

This Ask looked like a decent option because there were so few people dining, but read on. Few people made us (with our masks) feel "safe" but sadly the server wore no mask (why?) and then positioned right next to another table with two diners (why?). So I moved us to a more isolated table. I wish I had taken pictures of the food but we were so hungry that we started before I took pics! Mrs G had the sea bass, I had the lasagne. Mrs G enjoyed the small portion of fish served with a few vegetables (small potatoes and small tomatoes as we recall) and mine was a rather mediocre lasagne. One thing we had in common - after eating our meals we were still starving hungry. I suspect that portion sizes have shrunk somewhat compared with our previous experience with other "Ask" diners (which perhaps explains why the restaurant was so empty lunchtime on a Saturday).
