While planning for my first visit to Algonquin Provincial Park, I researched several accommodations nearby. I didn't want to spend a lot of time driving to and from the park. The properties owned by Algonquin Accommodations were the closest. Of the properties, I decided to stay at the Dream Catcher Motel.
There is no checkin on the property. Instead, you have to checkin at the Algonquin East Gate Motel, which is less than 1km away. Both places are on Highway 60.
The motel is pretty basic and what you'd expect from a motel. I stayed in room 1, which is a small room with two beds, a television, a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, a combination heat/air conditioning unit, and a ceiling fan. The bathroom is a separate room. One of the reasons why I chose this room over others is because it was not only a good price, but also because the bathroom is in a separate room. One of the rooms had the shower in the same room as the bedroom.
The room itself was clean. The only thing that was annoying were the ladybugs and flies that were in the room when we arrived, likely from cleaning staff opening the front door. The bathroom includes a packaged bar soap and packets of shampoo.
Make sure to bring your own drinks and food to reheat. There aren't many food options nearby and the few that exist close early.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Dream Catcher Motel. read more
