A Loving Home for My Mom - Thank You Maggie's Retirement Home…read more I can't say enough good things about Maggie's Retirement Home in Westchester, Miami. They took exceptional care of my mom, who was bed-bound for over a year. Despite her condition, she was always clean, fresh, and comfortable -- never once did she develop bed sores, which speaks volumes about the level of attention and compassion she received. The staff treated her like family. They cooked traditional Cuban meals that tasted just like grandma used to make -- warm, familiar, and full of love. Every bath, every meal, every moment was handled with such care and dignity. I always felt peace knowing she was in good hands. Special thanks to the office managers Doris and Norma -- true professionals who were always attentive to my needs and incredibly knowledgeable. The home had several aides working around the clock, so my mom was never alone. It felt just like a typical Hispanic home, exactly what I wanted for her -- warm, welcoming, and full of life. The owner, Barbara, was the sweetest person. She was patient with me and always made me feel welcome. I was able to visit as often as I wanted, and I never felt like a stranger. A huge shout-out to the amazing home aides: Norman, Danny, Rosa, Laura, Verena, and Ariana -- you all made a difference in my mom's life. And to the night watch team, Nancy and Arturo, thank you for keeping her safe and cared for through the night. If you're looking for a place that feels like home and treats your loved one with genuine love and respect, Maggie's Retirement Home is it.

Maggie's Retirement Home  - 7930 SW 11 St Miami FL 33144…read morePLEASE READ! Don't put your parents/family members in this Nursing care facility. Today June 9th around 5:10 PM driving home we see an elderly man around the age of 70/80 walking almost getting to 8 ST. He was walking and almost falling. My husband and I immediately stopped to offer assistance. He was disoriented and could barely walk on his own. After trying to find out where he was going/coming from he proceeded to say that he lived around the corner in a home. During that time another lady stopped that lives in the neighborhood and was able to identify where the home was. I proceeded to follow her to the home while my husband cared for the gentleman where we found him since we called the cops. Upon arrival at the home, not only was the front door unlocked but the side gate was also COMPLETELY open. The first thing I did I went through the side and saw an elderly gentleman sitting by himself in a wheelchair. I proceeded to ask him if anybody was attending him and his answer was "No one is here". I then went to the front door and walked right in realizing it was unlocked. I saw one of the care takers in the kitchen and I asked her if she had a patient by the name of "DELFÍN". She replied yes and I immediately asked her if she knew where he was and her reply was "she has no idea that he was somewhere around." I then told her where we found him (VERY UPSET) and told he that the side gate was completely open and it was very in-responsible. I then called my husband and told him to bring him to the nursing home that he was a patient there. While on the phone she proceeded to get another lady involved. After hanging up the phone she then told me that today he had been a little bit crazy and that she has just taken the garbage out that's why the side gate was open. To fast forward, my husband brought him and they took him back in. We completely understand that anyone can make a mistake and leave a door open after a long day dealing with elderly but it was obvious that he was gone for some time. If we wouldn't of found him or help who knows where he would've been by now. Please be very cautious where you choose to leave your family members when in need of care. We are currently going through this with my father in law and it isn't easy. Sad part is His family probably won't know anything about this. The cops were involved prior to us knowing where he was residing. We have reported this to the department of AHCA. We will also make sure to leave a review in every page. We now fear for him and anyone else under their care.

If you need of a home like / assisted living facility. Look no further!…read more The layout provides a sense of independence for the patients and it is a safe location for your loved ones. Lonnie and Maibel are on premises and will take care of all your family members needs. It's a family at The Point. The elevator gets stuck continuously, the stairs smell like urine, and the clothes are all washed together (mixing clothes with blood, feces, and urine together with the other residents' clothes). The forks, spoons, and plates are disgusting. I have seen residents gag after finding pieces of dried filth stuck to the back of spoons and forks. The residents also have no privacy. The staff lied when they said that they would install a privacy barrier between my grandma's living area and the other resident who was placed in her room; this was never done. A different resident was placed in my grandmother's bed at one point, too. She did not feel safe or comfortable here. At every step of the way, the staff disregarded her personal space and her human dignity. The staff use the same mop to clean urine from bathrooms and then (immediately afterward) to wipe the stairs, floors, and walls. This place needs an inspection for possible violations of the health code and local ordinances. Even while wearing an N95 mask, I was suffocated with the odor of urine upon entering the building. The bed sheets are not changed daily, so patients stew in their own bodily fluids for prolonged periods. I would never recommend this place to anyone in my life. My grandmother was normally a healthy, cognitively sound, and upbeat person, but by the time she was done here, her will to live was gone. During one visit, I found her in a strangely abnormal and confused mental state, which I suspected was caused by someone else's medications being given to her by accident. I can't prove it, but everything that I have seen leads me to believe this. If you want your loved ones to die quickly, this is the right place for you. I hope that The Pointe of North Gables gets a serious review by health inspectors, along with an audit of the number of resident deaths in recent months. They need to change how they operate. Right now, they resemble a cross between a slaughterhouse and a pigsty. If the initial payments to the facility had not been nonrefundable, I would have pulled my grandmother out of this place after my first visit. Don't take your parents to this s***hole. You will think that they are nice at first, but they will screw up, deceive you, mistreat your family, and turn your loved ones' final days into a dark, miserable experience. I feel sorry for the people who send their parents here without knowing what they are getting themselves into.

Our gate happened to be open and the person walked up to the glass front door. Our dogs began barking, and from the other side of the glass, I asked the person to place it on the ground and that I would retrieve it after he was gone. I am alone at the house, and I do not feel safe opening the door to strangers. I should not be obligated to open my door to a strange man--regardless of what he is delivering. He arrived in an unmarked white minivan. The person became increasingly angry and aggressive because I was not opening the door. He then flung the medication against the ground, yelled a profanity and left. I then called the pharmacy and spoke to a supervisor by the name of Erick. This person was equally aggressive, yelling over the phone, and demanding that I open my door to sign an iPad. I do not feel I should be obligated to open doors to strangers--pharmacy driver or not. The supervisor, Erick, stated that my father would not be getting his medication, unless we sign the iPad. We have a gate that is usually closed, and it was open by chance. Furthermore, No one is usually at the house at the time these people make deliveries, and finally, my father should not be denied his medications because we do not open the door to strangers to sign an iPad. I was literally in front of the person, on the other side of the glass. This is a safety matter that needs to be taken seriously. If I give the confirmation to leave the medication, I feel my civil rights have been severely violated, as this business is forcing me to open the doors to strangers. I am NOT seeking money or retribution; I am seeking the right to have the medication dropped off inside our mailbox, placed on the ground on the other side of the gate, or on our front porch (if the gate is open). My father shouldn't be denied his meds due to drivers/supervisors on power trips.
