Alex is a terrific, and patient, broker. He has just what you need in a San Francisco real estate broker. As a full time broker with years of experience in this market he has a good sense of real estate values , market patterns, and strategies unique to San Francisco. His connections and strong working relationship with other brokers enabled us to get access to off market properties and background information not generally available to the public. Even if your search takes months and endures multiple unsuccessful offers, he won't pressure you or make you feel like you're taking up too much of his time. We'll definitely work with him again on our next purchase or sale. read more

If you are buying or selling homes in San Francisco, pick Alex as your agent! Alex helped us sell our condo in San Francisco right post-pandemic, a super interesting time. We got our desired outcome despite the market downturn and fed rate hikes. Much of that credit goes to Alex! Alex is an agent with years of deep industry experience. The hardest thing about selling is all of the decisions: the listing price, when to list, when to lower the price and when to raise, etc. Alex carefully listened to our goals, and provided his recommendations with detailed explanations, all of which proved to be effective. Alex is super easy to work with. He was always responsive and on top of things, clear about when to move fast and when we could take our time, and made sure that we were on the same page. Overall, we are super glad to have had the opportunity to work with Alex :) if you are still looking, consider Alex! read more

Alex Clark did a fantastic job guiding us through our first home buy in San Francisco. It's a tricky market, and there's a lot to learn when you're buying a home that's 112 years old. He listened carefully to our interests, and guided us to intriguing properties, often with early looks. When we found the place we wanted, he mobilized all of his resources, staff and connections to make it happen. We went from an open house on Tuesday to being in contract by Saturday. Which makes it sound simpler than it actually was, as he had to hold our hands as we worked through the Disclosure on deferred building maintenance, hook us up with his preferred lender when our mortgage broker was unresponsive (and we had a pre-approval letter within 14 hours), help us craft a winning bid and push it through with the seller in a crowded field of interested buyers. When undisclosed maintenance issues turned up, he was able to claw back monies to deal with it. At every stage Alex was genial, insightful and resourceful, while simultaneously being a fierce advocate for us. I would enthusiastically recommend Alex to anybody looking for a home in San Francisco. He has tremendous experience and history in this market. Alex is both incredibly professional and very easy going. Anybody would be lucky to have him as their real estate agent. --David & Jacqueline S. read more

Alexander Clark - theFrontSteps - Real Estate Agents Near Me

TLDR: We highly recommend Alex to everyone and anyone looking to purchase or sell a property in San Francisco, Marin County, and wherever else he's willing to travel =). He offers a much-needed cool, calm, and collected presence on the emotional property rollercoaster. The Detail: My wife and I moved to San Francisco about 4 years ago. Sitting on the couch writing this review, we're still not quite sure how my wife found theFrontSteps, Alex, and his blog. But wow! We're glad she did. After reading theFrontSteps blog for several years and after Alex had set us up on Aalto (private listings), we reached out to Alex in early January 2020 to formally start looking to purchase a property in southern Marin county. Within several minutes, Alex was on the case and connected us with several mortgage brokers to get pre-approved before we started the search, given how quickly properties move in the Bay Area. While we worked on getting pre-approved, Alex was sending us properties to review to get a sense for our style and preferences, from interior to exterior to location. He also recommended that we continue to keep a close eye on the private listing via Aalto given the number of deals done off the MLS. Shortly after being pre-approved, we found a property on a Friday on Aalto that piqued our interest. Again, within several minutes of telling Alex we were interested in seeing the property, he sent us the details for the Saturday open house and encouraged us to stop by (he actually knew the listing agent really well from a previous job). After attending the open house, we let Alex know that we really liked the property, but had a few reservations. To see the property in person together and discuss those reservations, Alex drove up from San Francisco during rush hour on Monday, and after some thoughtful advice from Alex, we decided to put in a strong offer which was accepted on Tuesday with only one round of negotiations! It certainly helped that Alex knew the listing agent well. From there, we were off to the races on the 10-day inspection, mortgage, appraisal contingency period. We were a bit concerned with the short contingency period, especially since we were leaving the country the day before the contingency period ended, but Alex assured us that he could get it done. Alex was on point every step of the way, seamlessly scheduling the inspection for us, communicating with the listing agent, and checking in with the mortgage broker on the appraisal. He was available around the clock, responding to our text messages almost instantly to answer all questions and allay any concerns. By the time we returned from our trip, everything was done and we closed on schedule. The entire process from start to finish was much smoother and less stressful than we anticipated and were prepared for. Without Alex's knowledge, vast professional network, and expert advice along the way, we are fairly certain we would be out looking at properties and attending other open houses right now instead of writing this Yelp review. Thank you Alex! read more

Buying a home during a pandemic is certainly an interesting experience and we couldn't have been happier to have Alex at the tiller while my wife and i looked for and purchased a home over the last few months. All viewings during COVID is done by appointment so having an agent is critical. We found him through a mutual connection and were immediately impressed with his approach and calm, easy demeanor (you'll see that mentioned a lot in the reviews because it's VERY true). He immediately set us up with access to the listings platform and we set up alerts for what we were looking for (2-3 bedroom condo/TIC in SF). We started getting big lists of a dozen or so properties matching our criteria each day and would send those to Alex to arrange viewings. At the same time he set us up with lenders who he knew would work quickly and meet our financing needs. Once we had the pre-approvals in hand we began doing viewings and he also identified a beautiful off-market property for us. He found us multiple off-market listings (always good to have an agent who has the connections to secret properties). He was patient with us but also was very clear when we needed to move quickly and be decisive, which was really helpful. He coordinated well with the sellers, our escrow folks, and the lender to make sure the process was moving and we even managed to close a few days early despite our somewhat complicated financing structure. We highly recommend Alex for your home purchase. I know we'll be using him in the future. He also donated a portion of his earnings from the sale to Natural Resources in SF. read more

Alex guided my wife and I through a year-long journey to find the right home and we couldn't be happier. He was always available and a perfect blend of advisor and attendant. Alex helped ease our minds and also told us how it is... He is more than a real estate agent, he's a friend and someone we hope to stay close to over the years. Highly highly recommend. read more

Alex helped us buy our first home this past winter. He is knowledgeable and had our confidence from the start. He is down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and assertive when navigating the competitive SF real estate market. Alex was super responsive through the whole home buying process. He set realistic expectations and as we looked at properties quickly zeroed in on what we were looking for. He has a good eye, and walked us out of a couple of places (which we appreciated). He learned of a property which was about to go to market which matched everything on our list, and went to bat to get us in the door. He knew the seller's agent and was able to negotiate an off-market sale for us. Once we were in escrow he helped guide us through the whole process from start to finish. Alex is the guy you want in your corner when buying a home here. read more

Alex is a great real estate agent. It's currently a sellers market so it's quite difficult to navigate the market as a buyer. However we were able to find a house and close almost within a month of starting our house search. Key thing is that Alex has decades of experience to draw upon. So it that really helped us navigate the entire process! Would recommend! read more

Alex was incredible in helping us navigate our first home buying experience. At every step of the way, he made us feel like we were his only client - he took the time to learn our preferences, and was extremely accommodating with our busy schedules. Not once did he push us in a direction we weren't comfortable going or to make a decision we weren't ready to. Once we found our dream home, he was masterful in strategy and execution to get the job done. We can't speak highly enough about Alex, and look forward to being his clients for many years to come read more

Alex is, simply put, the best real estate agent in San Francisco. In a span of a few years, Alex has helped us buy two homes, and sell another two. Most of those deals presented unusual, and daunting challenges--financing problems, uber-competitive bidding situations, extreme time pressure, etc. Looking back, I still can't believe that we managed to get those deals over the line. I can't imagine that we could have done so with a different agent. Last year we bought a house that we had fallen in love with. To do it, we had to beat out 8 other serious bidders--some of whom were ready to offer more money. Alex got us the deal. Six months later he helped us to sell the same house, off-market, at a price 50% higher (!!!). Those facts speak for themselves. However, what impresses me most about Alex is his ability--even in highly stressful situations--to remain calm, reasonable, and friendly. This doesn't mean that he isn't tough when he needs to be! But he has a relaxed, personable way of doing business, which charms clients and fellow agents alike. We have come to consider him a good friend. Thank you, Alex! You will be our first and only call the next time we need to buy or sell a house. read more

Alex was extremely diligent and patient in the process of selling our family's home. Alex knows SF better than anyone with all the nuances that each unique SF area brings. We had to get creative in the weird covid times and he was easy to work with, ending in a smooth close - Alex is a pro in every respect. read more

We were first time buyers (in SF or anywhere) and did not have any clue of what needed to be done to buy a house here in SF. We got connected to Alex through a mutual connection, and we highly recommend him. For the viewings, Alex was always super responsive and great at setting up appointments to view houses (in COVID times). But where Alex impressed us and where he really helped was DURING the offer phase, and AFTERWARDS to get everything ready for the closing. During the offer phase: Alex knew the selling agent. He was able to get lots of details on timeline, when we would hear back, where did we rank among the initial offers etc. These info helped a ton. We did not realize this before, but having an agent that is well connected in SF is super important! After our offer got accepted, Alex was also super helpful. He helped push everything forward with the mortgage, the home insurance company, the escrow company etc. He also answered ALL of our many questions every time a new Docusign landed in our emails. And we had a lot of questions. It is easy to ask him by email or text. Lastly, Alex provided us a list of contacts in case we needed to do some work in the house. Super helpful. To sum it up, we will definitely call Alex if we need to sell or buy in the future. He is super nice, professional and extremely well connected. Thanks Alex! After 10 days in the house, we love it :) read more

Based on a friend's recommendation, we hired Alex to sell our apartment. We could not have been happier! We needed to do a bit of work before the sale and he brought in an excellent (and reasonably priced) contractor to help and introduced us to a superb stager. We moved away from the area before the work was done and Alex made sure everything was done perfectly. And then the sale - he exceeded all our expectations! He generated an unbelievable amount of foot traffic with all of the open houses and an amazing number of serious buyers. The time from listing to closing was extremely fast and completely smooth. We would (and have been) recommending him to all our friends. read more

We just bought our first home in SF with Alex's help and support. We were in market for long and SF market, as crazy it is, we were really worn out. I was looking for a new agent. Alex was listing agent on a property I was interested in and I called him directly inquiring about that property and when I talked to him, I knew he was going to be our agent. It turned out to be the best decision in our home buying journey. Alex is extremely professional, humble, knowledgeable and an expert in SF Real Estate market. We were able to find the home we wanted and Alex was with us, every step of the way. His keen business sense combined with the deep knowledge of SF real-estate market is all you need in an agent to succeed in home buying in this really competitive San Francisco market. We enjoyed our journey with Alex and will highly recommend Alex for anyone who wants to navigate through the home buying process in the city. read more

Being a first-time home buyer in San Francisco can be daunting. Alex made it not only seem possible, it was actually exciting! He is very well connected and respected among the agents in SF. He opened up opportunities that we would not have had access to without him. He knows how to bid in different situation, when to low-ball, when to go all in, how to play with timelines and contingencies... Throughout the process, Alex was an invaluable partner, knowledgeable, professional, fun, always available and responsive when we needed advice. When we finally went under contract, Alex helped us communicate with the lender, and quickly pulled together a conference call to resolve an unexpected issue involving the lender and the escrow team. We could not be happier and will certainly be in touch for any future real estate endeavors. read more

Alex helped me sell my investment property and it couldn't have gone smoother. After my tenants moved out I handed him the keys and in 3 weeks my place was painted, staged, listed then sold. I didn't even step foot into my property during the process as I had the utmost confidence and trust in Alex. I've known Alex for over 5 years and know that he is well tuned into the city, he is tactful, efficient, responsive and very easy to work with. I am truly grateful and feel blessed to have had him sell my property. I highly recommend him as a real estate broker to anyone looking for property or wanting to buy in San Francisco. 10 Golden Stars!!! read more

Alex is by far one of the best! My partner and I loved working with Alex and appreciated his patience throughout our home search, it was definitely a far longer process than anticipated. As a first time homebuyer, I was very nervous and had questions about everything (pricing, inspections, closing process, etc) but Alex was professional, considerate, supportive, and he promptly responded to all my questions and guided me throughout the entire process. I've worked with a few other real estate agents and I picked Alex because of his speed (and pretty much 24/7 service), attention to details (he reads everything), and most importantly, he is a great negotiator and would fight to get what's best for me. A few other things about Alex that impressed me: He is well-connected in the industry so he is a great source of information. He understands quickly what I like. When the market is hot and every day matters (we're living in an era where someone can get in contract and close within a few days), it's really important to find an agent who understands the client and the market inside-out, so that you are presented with the right properties and not waste time. Alex would zoom in to do research, figure out how competitive each individual property is, and go over details and comps to make sure that I'm prepared with information I need to make a solid winning offer. I met Alex at an open house that he was hosting, there was a line just to talk to him. But he was patient and answered every single question from every person, and then it was my turn and we chatted. After that, it took a few emails and he got it. Recommended me exactly what I was looking for and helped me snatch it. I would recommend Alex without hesitation. In fact, he has already helped 3 of my friends to buy and sell houses (and a few more at the moment). I cannot say enough about how savvy Alex is when it comes to SF! He patiently worked with me and my husband as we searched for our dream house in the Outer Sunset on a budget that was not nearly on par with what the neighborhood was selling for. Instead of pawning us off on someone else or telling us we needed to raise our budget, he stuck with us. His incredible instincts paid off and he scored us our dream house, one block off the Great Highway for $200K UNDER asking. See here http://thegoods-sf.com/theFrontSteps/details/473546/. We decided to relocate out of state after living in our house for nearly 30 years; a huge decision for us and an intimidating process. We were fortunate to connect with Alex, through a friend's recommendation. Alex made selling our house very smooth, which was essential to us; we had so many other things to do! He eloquently attended to many, many details behind the scene. Alex kept a calm demeanor -- which was hugely comforting when we were stressed. Alex is fabulous. He's super knowledgeable, personable, completely reliable, responsive, honest, thorough and on your side. Also very smart. He's the guy you want. My husband and I both love him and 4 years later still love our house. SF is an insane real estate market and Alex knows it like the back of his hand and knows how to play the game. And win! Alex exceeded high expectations in selling our home. Excellent factual knowledge of the Outer Richmond submarket, market dynamics, how to set an asking price and guide to a selling price range, etc. But the magic was understanding the nuances of this home, this lot, its setting, its potential, recent work, etc. and then producing a marketing program (a real program, not just an e-blast and pics) which engaged the brokers and potential buyers to focus attention and action on the offering. We are pleased with what the market delivered, and very pleased with how Alex went about getting this offering so well positioned in the market! read more
