Don't know where to start with my review. There are both pros and cons. I guess I'll start with a few of the pros. They have a large menu of assorted foods. They do have several items that are vegetarian. And since my seat was in the kitchen (not kidding) I noticed the kitchen staff was hard working and everything looked clean. The restaurant is large and trendy, and they do have English menus. And now a little of the cons. They are very understaffed. On a Saturday night it seemed like the servers couldn't keep up, we rarely saw our server and when we did, he was literally running by. Additionally the understaffing caused a lot of chaos. Since I was in the mall earlier that day, I decided to stop by and make a reservation. I watched as the hostess wrote down the reservation. I'm not sure what happened, but by the time we got there, six hours later, our reservation was lost. At first they tried to seat 7 of us at a 5 top table, then seated us in the kitchen (at this point we were happy to have any table). Our waiter took our food orders about 15 minutes later on a small electric device, yet of the 6 food orders placed (one person decided not to eat) 3 of the orders were wrong. One of our diners wanted more food but we never saw our server, from order taking, until it was time to pay (some one else brought our food). There was also some confusion about the paying part, but apparently there was enough time for the waiter to confront me about it, even though it had nothing to do with me, but instead with a couple of the orders that were wrong. I don't know. I really want to like this place because it's trendy which causes excitement. But, I'm not that excited about the place. Rooftop restaurant with lots of outdoor seating. Its located in the sky garden so lots of trees to look at, but not much beyond that. The sky garden is the top floor of a big shopping mall. The service can be a bit slow because the outdoor area is so big. They have english menus available if you ask. The menu has a lot of nice bar food and german staples. The food is nothing special, most people come to hang out and have drinks. Nice place to take a break from shopping. read more

Come here whenever I visit Skyline Plaza for a beer. The restaurant is huge and decorated nicely. I had the brunch buffet in the past and it is quite impressive. The Flammkuchen was a bit dry and over priced but still flavorful. I like the relaxed atmosphere and enjoy chatting with friends over a cold beer. However, the only thing I don't like is the horrible service. You can sit for a very long time without any wait staff even looking your way. I literally have to hunt someone done to get a beer which is a bit ridiculous. This has happened on multiple visits so I know it is definitely a reoccurring issue. Other than the lack of service I do enjoy coming here very much. read more

Alex is a modern bar restaurant chain which opened its latest franchise on top of the Skyline Plaza near from Frankfurt Messe. Here you can enjoy food and drinks inside a chic and stylish environment as well as outside at the terrace which is really nice. You can either take a seat on cozy sofas or lay yourself back on a bench. The weather was sunny mild so I could enjoy my coffee while laying on a bench. Service was nice, too. read more

Came in here this evening at 130am because i was starving and hoping for a beer at the very least. After following the instructions around the whole skyline plaza, i got up to a very quiet rooftop but could see in the far distance that inside the Alex restaurant there was activity. So we proceeded into a door that was slightly open and after walking through a few groups of people, a bouncer (?) approached us and told us they were closed. Which was odd because there appeared ro be 3-4 dozen people drinking and dancing. The bouncer escorted us out and kept watching us to make sure we walked away. Based on this brief encounter the place is rated accordingly. Everything else seemed fun though, music, decor, bar, etccc. read more

Had a tasty black cherry waffle for breakfast. Atmosphere is nice. Location isn't ideal but that doesn't seem to stop people from coming--even on a Monday morning there's a breakfast buzz. My server was quite dry--a soft spoken man of few words. But quick and attentive. Free wifi in the shopping center makes being alone bearable here. read more

Been there a couple times now and I am neither impressed nor unsatisfied. Quite nice interior design and a good location on the rooftop of the new Skyline Plaza shopping mall. Prices are ok and the food itself is also fine. However, it seems like they have far too few waiters and waitresses as ordering something (especially the bill) can take quite a while (talking 15+ minutes and several reminders here). Probably depends on where you are seated though. I have had Sunday brunch there twice now. Both times the selection was good and there should be something for everyone. Was a bit unlucky with the "lunch" part the second time I went there.They don't have any sweet stuff for dessert (like pies for example) which is a big disadvantage. Brunch is supposed to end at 2.30pm but they started clearing away the food shortly past 2pm already which creates a sense of rush - quite the opposite of what you want on a Sunday. I still managed to get some bread but I had to chase down the waitress and convince her that the cream cheese needs some bread or else it would feel lonely... Overall atmosphere feels somewhat hectic. 11.90 EUR for a brunch of this quality and selection is a very fair price. Excellent price/value ratio. All in all I'd say it's well worth a visit but far from the best in town. 3 stars. read more

The Alex at the top of the skyline plaza is a huge coffee shop and restaurant. The menu offers a big variety of dishes e.g. pasta, burgers and salads. It is possible to sit inside or outside. The view from outside is very pretty. Our staff was nice and the food tasted good. Enjoy read more

Love the outdoor seating area! I really enjoyed the cocktails and food here over the summer. Especially when it is sunny and warm you can definitely enjoy yourself. Service on the slower side but probably because it was super busy! Will definitely be coming back here again. read more

The food is nothing special but OK for a restaurant inside a shopping center. Drinks are more expensive than average in Frankfurt. The service was very slow, apparently due to a lack of waiters on that day. I saw my beer stand for 15min on the counter before they brought it to me! The worst was to get out after 11pm. If you use the elevator you take the risk of getting lost and have to follow the emergency exit signs! read more
