I recommend you avoid this practice at all costs! I started going here in 2000 to see dr. Anders, who is an EXCELLENT physician. He moved to the Germantown location several years later and so I started going to that office. Now, Dr. Anders has left the practice and won't take my insurance. So I asked the practice receptionist to suggest another doctor in the practice that I could see as my primary care physician. She gave me the name of a new dr. In the practice who was accepting new patients. I called the office to make an appt. for my annual physical. They told me over the phone that before I could make an appt. with this dr., I would have to have a "pre-appointment" with him. So I made an appt.
When I went for the appt. the new dr. asked me why I was there! I explained that his office said I had to have a pre-appointment with him before I could have an annual physical exam. He said he never told them to tell me that! I asked him if he was going to bill my insurance company for this visit, but his answer wasn't clear and he repeated that he never told me to come in for a pre-appointment. He said as long as I was there was there something he could do for me. For example, did I need any vaccines. I said no, but he looked at my record and suggested I could have a hepatitis B vaccination. I asked him if hep B was common among people my age (60+) He said "oh I wouldn't know about that" --an amazing remark from a dr. I thought!
Anyway, I made an appt. for my physical while I was there and was told to also make an appointment to give blood for lab work a week before the physical. I did and went in at the appointed time and gave blood and urine.
Then, today, when I arrived at the office for my annual physical, I was kept waiting for about 15 mins and then escorted in by a staff member, who took all my vitals. After about 10 mins. The dr. Comes in and says "I don't know why you are here. It is too early to have a physical since it has been only 11 months since your last physical and insurance only allows one per year. I was shocked! You would think someone in that office --either the doctor or his staff--would have let me know before I made the appt. So when I asked if the lab results of my bloodwork could be used again next month during my real annual physical he said no.
Something is extremely wrong with the staff and the doctor I saw here. I won't name the dr. because I actually felt sorry for him. He really was clueless. I will no longer go to Potomac physicians for anything.
By the way, they billed my insurance company for that first unnecessary pre-appointment, citing "emergency care" . I may report them for fraud, but first I want to see if they are going to Bill my insurance co. for today's fiasco.... read more
