In our plans this weekend, in conjunction with our family reunion in Ponca City, was to visit Aldi's. One of the fastest growing food chains in the U.S. market. It's basic, no frills & Spartan. Just offering to the customer, in many cases, a better product at a lower price. Shopped there today to look around but returned to buy chocolates, a cereal, & two cans of coffee. After Oklahoma added sales tax of $5.37 our bill came to $67.38. What i like about Aldi is they are environmental conscious & friendly. To use one of their shopping carts, you deposit a quarter in the cart. You get your coin back when you return the cart. When all your items are rung up & paid for, the cashier does not pack them for you nor give you a bag. Customers take their groceries to a long counter and do thie own packing. My only concern would the image. Looks more like a warehouse, more cluttered and untidy, than their competition. Many are waiting for stores expansions into their states, cities & towns. read more
