Pure chaos. Mentally, emotionally, and even physically prepare yourself before you walk through these doors. I've only been to one other Aldi's (out of state) and that seemed to be more relaxed, organized, and clean, but this one seems to attract some of the worst shoppers I've ever encountered: shamelessly opening packages, knocking products down, destroying items, and misplacing them. I get it's a discount market and that this shopping center in particular pulls in most of Queens but it's reminiscent of Black Friday in the 2000s most of the time--at all hours. So many aggressive shoppers who are very likely ready to shove you. It is somewhat better during the weekdays and I always get most of what I need. Their meat and cheese selections are excellent and decently priced. I don't suggest getting anything brand-name because they definitely charge a little more than elsewhere but for everything else, you can tell when big labels make an off-brand version for Aldi. The staff is here and there at times and they are definitely understaffed, even during peak hours. I've seen them get frustrated with unaware shoppers, which is understandable. Don't make this your one-stop shop if you live in the area or have a market near you. Not worth the stress navigating through people and long lines at times. read more

Everything very disorganized, dirty floors etc. I did buy a few packaged cheeses. Been to Aldi numerous times and even brought my own shopping cart (smaller and more manageable). Aisles are spacious and staff bring out more items to the shelves. Always check the circular to see their latest sales for the best bargains. Found that their vegetables are fresh and lots of different variety of Apples to select from. Red Delicious Apples 3 pounds for $2.89 Went to get the Rack of Lamb but store did not carry that product. Went instead for the Bacon Wrapped Filet. Everything Bagel bag of 6 was on sale for $1.95 Organic Spring Mix $4.89 for one pound which lasted several meals and was fresh. News on May 17, 2024- Aldi is planning to lower prices on 250 Summer Essential items to help consumers through Labor Day. Yes, there are long lines at the checkout and lines do move fast. They get another staff to open another cash register when there many people waiting. Definitely, be back for more bargains. read more

The majority of chicken breasts and thighs on the shelves have holes in the packaging and get chicken juices over everything, I recently got food poisoning from eating a steak from this location, and I have found mold in yogurt that wasn't past its expiration date. I think someone is slacking off when it comes to stocking the produce and it is going bad/becoming soiled. read more

Ordered delivery through DoorDash a few times. Overall, it was a good experience. Cheaper than shopping in-person at an average supermarket, and a great way to skip the long lines at Aldi. There were some small issues, but they were not worse than what you'd get with other delivery services and supermarkets. 1 item out of 50 was missing (and was not refunded until I specifically asked for a refund through DoorDash). A couple items had their prices change (including the per lb prices, not just overall price) after the order was delivered, although the prices went down about as often as they went up. They have substitution vs refund preferences. It has to be done per-item; I didn't see a way to set a global preference or default for all items. They sometimes ignored what I chose. About 90% of the items I ordered were in stock. I mostly went for the ones marked as "many in stock" or the ones that were unmarked, and avoided products that were likely to run out. They charge 24 cents per bag, plus of course delivery and service fees. Shopping in-person at Aldi is probably still cheaper, but for me, it's worth it to avoid the long lines, the lack of carts and hand baskets, etc. read more

I shop here less now for three main reasons. 1. In the middle of the registers is a column where they have a bell. The cashiers ring it when they need help. It is very loud to hear. They used to use an electronic device to call for help but now they keep pressing the bell. And you the customer cannot escape it. 2. They need a new door alarm. Many times the alarm on the exit goes off on its own even if no one passes. Or it has false readings. No matter how they fix it the problem keeps happening. 3. They have one recycle machine inside and it keeps breaking or not able to use it. read more

Some snacks and cookie items tend to be out-of-stock for a long while without letting customers know when it will be back. ALDI - The clear aisle - Grocery Near Me - Park, New York

There are a lot of mixed feelings towards ALDI compared to its sister store Trader Joe's, but I am personally a fan of both. I love coming to ALDI for cheap thrills and pantry basics. You need to treat it like an adventure: don't come with a grocery list or a recipe shopping list in hand, you will be disappointed. They tend to be pretty good with keeping basics readily stocked, but everything else is more rotational and can be completely out at times. The best time to go is on Wednesdays which is when they restock. As for what's good... snacks. Rice Krispies, yogurt, cereal, protein bars, cookies taste 95% similar to the name brands. Their frozen dessert and ice cream section is banging. They are also good for pantry stuff like flour, dried pasta, oil, herbs and spices (i.e. things that you won't notice you are using generic versions of when cooking). You can also grab your gallon of milk, stick of butter, and dozen of eggs here. On the other hand, their produce and seafood sections are somewhat lacking and probably their weakest areas. They are not that great with keeping shopping baskets at the front entrance so sometimes you need to go and hunt for one near checkout. Lines move quickly because the cashiers will hurry you along and will give you death glares if you pay 2 seconds too slow. But all these inconveniences are a small price to pay for dirt cheap prices (especially in these times). Lastly, before you leave, make sure you take a stroll down their infamous "aisle of shame". They have the most random assortment of items. Everything from cookware to activewear to candles to a LITERAL treadmill. read more

Even though this is a franchise supermarket through out the U.S..... it's like a hole in the wall here in Rego Park.... especially when they don't carry any of the major brand name products. So if you're a brand whore....this place ain't for you. I did find some products sold here that I didn't find elsewhere, so that was a pleasant surprise. There are no plastic bags, just like everywhere else now, due to the new law passed. They do sell large plastic bags with handles. And I think I saw paper bags on the side of cash register counter strips. The line gets packed very quickly here and it takes a while to check out, but at least they would open up more lanes. There's a bottle deposit machine for your recycling needs. And they actually have areas for you to set aside your groceries and pack them into your own tote bags or tie it up with ropes to a cart. Been coming to this Aldi for a hot minute. This one always has lines out the door when it's time to pay. Fruits like grapes aren't always in the best condition. Each time I stop here I notice a price increase on the same items I usually get. Granted it's an Aldi thing and not a branch thing, this is a bit disconcerting because my plantation rewards haven't increased so..... Cashiers are cool, no complaints there but if you manage to catch a member of staff on the floor, don't ask them anything, it doesn't look like they want to be bothered. Great place to shop if you're looking for cheap groceries. Not a lot of big name brands here which is probably how they're able to sell most of them things are so cheap. I would stay clear from their Greek yogurt because the last time I got it, it was a very strange fluffy texture. Also would not recommend the pasta sauce. They are very watered down and flavorless. For produce, I would recommend getting them and eating them right away. The meat probably isn't as good as other places so usually I only buy meat from Aldi's if I am cooking and eating it that day. It is a good place to get snacks and drinks. I like to buy their ginger beer and Pop Tarts from here. This place does not provide bags, which I actually love. This prevents more plastic waste. You can always buy a paper bag from them or buy a reusable bag. Sometimes if I forget to bring a bag, I just grab a box to carry my items. It's very similar to Costco in that way. Overall a good place to buy stuff if you're on a tight budget and not looking for name brands or really high quality goods. read more

You're supposed to take your groceries aside by the tables to bag it on your own. Don't hold up the line by trying to bag as you're paying. A typical Aldi's in NYC. Unfortunately, it's hard to find free parking as they do not have a parking lot and it is near a residential area. However, you can pay by meter around the surrounding blocks. Love the affordability and variety of Aldi's stores and this one is no different! They have a large variety of everything you'd look for in a grocery store from Seltzer water to Turkey bacon. A lot of products also have their own brand and is cheaper than the big name brands. It's as crowded as any other grocery store that is still open during this pandemic. They have most, not all, of their usual produce and goods in stock. However, lines are insanely long and you will most likely have to wait to pay or enter any time you go due to social distancing and changes in hours. I've always been a die-hard Trader Joe's fan and was sad to move far from a location. As I was looking for new supermarkets nearby I came across Aldi (which is the parent company of Trader Joe's!). I was able to find a lot of Trader Joe's products, including "everything but the bagel" seasoning (a must get!) amongst other similar products. Aldi's products have their own generics of brand options (e.g. Kodiak protein pancake mix, snacks, etc.) at a relatively low price. Their produce section isn't the freshest, but could possibly be due to the turn around time and when I go. Love that the frozen section also includes vegeterian options and my go to is the giant pack of frozen hash brown that I can just quickly heat up for breakfast! Just a friendly reminder: you need to insert a quarter to use their carts and BYOB (bring your own BAGS!), they also have reusable bags on sale so no worries if you forget. read more

Once you exit the station look for a huge shopping center- there's a chipotle, costco, panera, red mango, etc. The Aldi is next to petco and near panera. Cheap place to grocery shop especially for meat!! 8 thin sliced pork chops for 5 bucks and you can get 6 large chicken breasts for like 8 bucks- they are LARGE. Portabella mushrooms are 1.99 and you can get sliced cheese for the same price as well. The brands aren't that well known but frankly tastes just fine to me. The only thing I didn't like was the steak- really dry but maybe i just needed to lather it in sauce. Def a good place to buy in bulk for large families or if you're hosting a party- they got everything. Bring your own bag- or else you can buy some. There aren't really any baskets or carts so just bring bags and carry your stuff in it!!! Cheaper than Trader Joes..regarding most things. A new great find. This is my new go to place for very fresh and inexpensive produce. Every day low price. Broccoli for $1.79 per bag. Of course I pick the biggest bag! It had easily 2lbs in there. This also my go to place for popular fruit like oranges and pineapple. The prices are cheaper than Costco. So after after a Costco visit, I walk over here. So this place does not sell any familiar brand name food products. ALDI exclusive brands are manufactured by many of the nation's leading food producers, so these products may meet or exceed the quality of national name brands. Also they have removed all certified synthetic colors, added MSG, and partially hydrogenated oils. Their every day price on many items are way cheaper than what you would get in you regular supermarket. I've tried many of their bottled sauces, snacks, fresh veggies, fruit and their version of a Starbucks Frappuccino. Everything was pretty good. These are the only things I've tried so far, so I can't comment on anything else. Like any other supermarket, they have a large variety: fresh bottled juices, fresh pizza (just heat), raw fish, fresh meat section, large variety of cheeses, chips, cookies, milk, eggs, frozen food entrees, frozen seafood, frozen desserts, fresh vegetables and fruit, etc. I noticed a new addition. They are now selling frozen crab legs at a very reasonable price. Haven't tried it yet though. They also stock an odd variety of home goods that changes often. Everything from shoes racks, plastic hampers, tools, coloring books, sweaters, weight scales, and toys. The bad thing about this place is that its usually very crowded at after work hours. Long lines of people waiting at the cashier lines. Some have carts piled to the top with groceries. They charge for bags. So bring you own or go without. You also need to bag your own groceries. I was SO EXCITED to check this store out cause I know they have it in the UK. Kinda disappointed tho cause even tho the prices are good, some things taste AWEFUL!!!!! Bought soy milk and it was way too watery. Bought rice and the smell alone made me wanna vomit. The good things so far are the cereal and drinks. Bought these fruit rings that are a knock off fruit loop and those are pretty good. Also found knock off sparkling flavored water and it tastes the exact same as the name brand. I ran into this Aldi just to check it out quickly. It had what Aldi is known for -- supermarket fare for low prices. I was really interested to see what they had in the "seasonal" aisle, but it looked like a bomb had gone off. Stuff was thrown everywhere and there were very few items. It was only one side of one aisle. The store was fully packed with a variety of grocery items and seemed clean, but a little disheveled. Be prepared to stand in long lines. The cashiers are very fast and efficient. I like that they let them sit down. There's no reason a cashier should be standing all day. If you're looking to stroll down the aisle and shop for garbage, then this place is for you!!! They sell nothing but junk and although the price is definitely on the cheaper end, so are the food that you'll find at a 99 cent store. I came here after someone had recommended it to me and with much anticipation that only lead to disappointment. I found that their entire store was stocked with bootlegged imitation of American classic. All I could imagine was how bad this could be for human consumption. It makes me wonder who the hell really shops here. I mean really, what kind of lifestyle do these people lead for them to eat this type of food. Personally, I'm not gamed when it comes to shopping for generic products and pre-packaged food, which seems to be the only thing that Aldi carries. So, of course I'm also not surprised when they claim that their products are cheaper. This place is ok. Great prices but it lacks good customer service. I basically stop here when I am in the neighborhood. I always have to buy a shopping bag. I love their pineapple at only 1.79 and a bag of oranges at 1.99. There is also seafood plants snacks and other miscellaneous stuff. The lines are long and the cashiers seem annoyed. Oh one has to rent a shopping cart for .25 cents. It's a cool place but not my cup of tea. You have to pay a quarter to get a shopping cart, which they return to you after you're done shopping? So why are you taking the quarter?? Everything in the store is dirt cheap. No brand name items. So you wander aimlessly looking to see if anything catches your eye. At the end you're charged 10 cents per shopping bag. The lady bags your groceries in a small tiny basket which you have to then take out all over again to bag your items. I get the point, bring your own bag to be environmental friendly. I normally make a list of what to replenish in terms of groceries and supplies on a weekly basis. In the covid-19 circumstance, I stock up just a tad bit for our family of 4. It's difficult to buy in bulk. We normally just purchase as needed and stock on pantry items. Most of the stores in the city are closed. Queens is the best bet with limited hours. We like that this location is well stocked compared to other supermarkets- Stop&Shop, Trader's Joe, Whole Foods, etc. Meats are completely gone by afternoon. Chicken was completely out during week 1 of the quarantine. Now, it's week 2 starting with beef, pork, and turkey meat. Even dairy, especially milk! My son drinks whole milk as he's under 3. The rest of us drink either skim or almond milk. Unfortunately, we were not able to find any non-dairy or milk after searching most of the supermarkets. Thank the sweet lord, Aldi had either re-stock their shelves or no one hoard any diary purchase. Aldi also had an abundant selection from candies, chocolates, baskets, fillers, etc. on sale. Most of the pharmacies like CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc. offered limited Easter goodies. I could only gather a few things as they were closing at 6pm. Overall, it's a good place to stock up compared to other places where they tend to run out of things. A few tips: - Due to the quarantine period, the lines are down the block towards the highway. Stick with an hour before closing on weekdays and weekends. It's practically empty to do all your shopping needs. Keep in mind that there will still be lines at checkout. -Protect yourselves and loved ones. Wear safety masks! Most importantly, be considerate and maintain your distance! If you noticed, most of the stores have markers during check-out. This is to give shoppers distance to protect each other from getting sick.
