The breathing and meditation exercises we did before the photoshoot helped me to feel comfortable in front of a camera. As a light-skinned Pacific Islander, I often felt uncomfortable with my appearance... until I moved to the continental us for college. But even then while I felt adequately assimilated, my soul felt split. This experience has helped me to love myself wholly and fully, marrying my two selves that I had kept separate for too long.
