If you can book Katy to photograph for you- whether it be for a wedding, new baby, party, business,…read moreor anything else- consider yourself lucky. Katy is one of the most charming and laid back yet professional people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She starts off by getting a really good idea of what you're looking for, and then helps you get just that. She did our engagement photos and wedding photos. After hearing our likes and dislikes, she suggested several places for the engagement photos to be taken and the place we chose from her was spot on. She was irreplaceable when it came to planning the wedding day. We needed a plan for the day, plus a backup plan for bad weather, plus a backup plan if COVID completely made us have to rearrange the day- and she helped us make all 3 plans so that we could still have a beautiful day and get beautiful photos. That was so helpful for me who was planning a wedding without assistance. Katy is funny and kind- she wants to get to know you and is easy to talk with. During our small reception she was in the background taking photos, but during our more "one on one" time with her she was direct and helpful. We were feeling really awkward about having engagement photos taken- but worry not! Katy will pose you in ways that look and feel natural, not stuffy or awkward. And seriously- our photos are AMAZING. We are still waiting on our full collection of wedding photos but she sent us a few as a sneak peek and we can not get enough of them. We feel so grateful to have had someone so carefully and lovingly document these important mile stones in our lives and we most certainly plan to use her more in the future. Thank you Katy!

I don't even know where to start with Misha. I found her searching for wedding locations online…read more The pictures I found were gorgeous and had a fresh, ethereal quality to them. I just thought - let's get this photographer, she is GOOD. I loved everything about the way the process went. Misha has obvious talent and experience. She created a special, smaller package for us as our wedding was essentially an elopement. Photographs were of premium importance and so we did not cheap out here. She was flexible and showed up early and even stayed a little longer than expected. Misha is professional and organized - her contracts had information which explained some little details to think about in advance were greatly appreciated (it would have never in 1M years occurred to me to buy a decorative hanger for my dress shots - but an ugly hanger would have ruined the photos! Genius!). She also tacked on an early morning session for an additional fee - it was local to Bellingham and she just swung by and snapped several photos at Honey Salon. I really appreciated her wonderful personality. I am a bit on the more quiet side (not super keen on the idea of being the center of attention for hours on end) and easily overwhelmed by huge or loud personalities. She is lovely and gentle and natural with her directions and I never felt like I was under a magnifying glass (like I thought I might feel after being photographed for several hours). She makes it easy. She is the opposite of the "cheerleader," overly enthusiastic type in a wonderful way - for some reason this is the image I had in my head of what a wedding photographer might be like. She was climbing around, deftly swapping lenses, and hidden away in the background getting excellent natural, impromptu shots the whole time she was working. She has a great knowledge of Lummi Island and took us to a few amazing little spots on the water for additional unique and incredible photos. She was directing me before and during the ceremony to ensure she got all of the shots she envisioned. I was so thankful because I didn't want to have to worry about any of this in those moments and we had no rehearsal. She had scouted out exactly where I should stand so my fiancé didn't see me before she was ready to get the shots of us seeing each other for the first time. I wanted to rely solely on the photographer and I knew I could trust Misha once I met her that morning - she exudes style, class, intelligence, and experience and is worth every. single. penny. I felt nervous and somewhat awkward while taking the photos (I am not a natural model) and I was concerned it would come across in the photos. Sitting down to do the slide show with a bottle of champagne with my new husband for the first time, we were just blown away. She made the two of us slightly awkward people look like models - we rated a solid half of the photos 5/5 stars because they were INCREDIBLE. We rated another 1/4 of the photos 3/5 stars meaning they belonged in our album. Michèle knows how to get the good shots and she knows how to handle and direct the people in them effortlessly to this end without disrupting any of the natural flow of things. Her work is beautiful and we will have it to cherish for the rest of our lives and to share proudly with our family and friends. I would give her 10/5 starts if I could. She MADE the experience for us and the memories for our future. Worth her weight in gold.

You want someone who is easy to work with, responsive, professional, and above all that will give you a QUALITY product, right?! Makenna Hickman Photography hits ALL those marks! Makenna is really easy going, super fun to work with (she's hysterical), and a total professional. What makes Makenna a real pleasure, is that she will do just about anything to get the perfect shot, whether that's indoors, outdoors, rain, shine, storm, or whatever; she's kind of been there done that. This is a fantastic trait; especially if you're uncomfortable in front of the camera, you're a family with small children, or have a pet that struggles to sit still. Makenna will take care of you throughout the process. She is A perfectionist so you know you're going to get quality pictures that you'll want to hang in your home for years to come. I've trusted Makenna Hickman Photography with the most important moments in my life - baby pictures, engagement pictures, and maternity shoots. I have hundreds of her pictures in my gallery. She delivers above and beyond my expectations EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I wouldn't choose any other photographer - there's just no point. What's really special, is that Makenna will bring you behind the lens and let you see the shots she's taking so you feel great with what she's capturing. She truly wants her clients to be happy. After the session, she will get to work on her incredible editing and polishing. She really takes her time and makes sure she digs into all the little details. Because she is a solo artist, working with her is really a top notch experience. I highly recommend her services.

The breathing and meditation exercises we did before the photoshoot helped me to feel comfortable in front of a camera. Sterling helped me to feel comfortable in my own skin - which to me is priceless. As a light-skinned Pacific Islander, I often felt uncomfortable with my appearance... until I moved to the continental us for college. But even then while I felt adequately assimilated, my soul felt split. This experience has helped me to love myself wholly and fully, marrying my two selves that I had kept separate for too long. Never would I have thought that a photoshoot would allow me that. Sterling's talents are very special and unique. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed. To anyone thinking about an embodiment photoshoot, I say go for it. And if an embodiment photoshoot doesn't really sound like your thing, still consider it :) I thought the same, but I'm really glad that I did it. I've always wanted to be able to capture the moon's beauty as seen through my eyes... not easy. But Sterling seems to do just that in her photography. Capturing the pure beauty and magic of another!
