It is a very popular destination for locals from around the region and it was packed when we were there. A nice sunny day also helped the cause. It's a great place to come out for a day and walk along the beach and eat at the many nice restaurants and cafes in town as well as along the waterfront. It's a typical English seaside town and quite charming with gorgeous old buildings dotted along the coast line. I would happily come here any day. A great walk is from Southwold to Walberswick along the tow path and it takes about an hour to walk it. Gorgeous fishing villages and boats dot the waterline.

It's the sort of place that reminds me of what my parents' childhoods would have been like if they had been brought up in this part of the world. From the water clock with its quirky show to fish, chips and a Suffolk beer sitting out on the pier, looking through the boards to the sea below, this is a relaxing, civilised and quintessentially British sort of place. We went home with a few nice bottles from unusual regions meaning prices were very reasonable. Very worthwhile to shop for interesting and different wines.
