He arrived early (big thumbs up) and I told him my budget (not much) and what I needed done. Well, my backyard now has several new plants and drip lines and everything looks great. I told Ryan that when I get some more money saved up I'll be contacting him again for more work. I have a long list of things that need getting done. One of the things I liked about Ryan is that if he doesn't know about something he can draw upon his friends who work in various fields, like today he got advice on which emitters to use for the particular plants I had put in and he managed to get me a deal on some of the supplies. As they say, the best advertising is word of mouth, and I recommend that if you need a handyman you give Ryan a call first. (Even around the holidays!)

Always seemed to be a good reason: need to schedule the plumber, need to have the cement dry, etc. But these reasonable delays added months before the job was completed. Then, there was a rush to finish the job; rather than level the floor with quick-dry cement, they put in a few of the unused floor planks. The floor is soft there but the tub hides the problem. But the very disappointing thing is their attempts now to collect $800 above their bid quote. Repeated attempts -- telephone and emails -- have not resulted in any response. Telephone calls go to voicemail--no response to emails. I'm waiting for an explanation for the overcharge before I make payment.

We were referred to Juan and Xtreme Roofing. Juan came promptly, surveyed the damage, and provided an estimate (insurance did not pay for the roof, but they were great at covering the interior work). Not only was the estimate reasonable--as well as the final cost--but the work was done efficiently and on schedule. The insurance company then spent some time flying a drone over the finished work to verify satisfactory completion. (Some of the problems resulted from an improper installation of a plumbing drain vent [no flashing was used] during the original construction--26 years ago; other issues were simply age related in conjunction with poor drainage design.) We plan to have them come regularly to make sure everything remains waterproof and in good repair--we do not want to go through the destruction and renovation process again.
