So we chilled downstairs near the cafe (it's so cool you can get something to drink while you wait). I had a matcha green tea with oat milk, was not good but I drank it. Anyway, I am IN LOVE with my tattoo and Julien did a PHENOMENAL JOB I'M BLOWN!! No after care instructions are given and though I'm not new to tattoos, I've never had the saniderm on after getting tattooed so some after care instructions would have been nice (we had to look up some instructions online). It's cash only so be prepared. They do have an ATM but you will be charged fees by your bank They didn't provide a receipt which was also lowkey annoying but I didn't argue it. I was delayed by a few minutes, so I arrived in the shop about 10 minutes after them. By the time I got there, they were both outside, with my daughter sobbing uncontrollably. From what they told me, the piercer decided to throw a bunch of scare tactics at my daughter, citing likely infection, and her friends laughing at her for the permanent hole in her face, etc. I was mortified, so I went in to ask the piercer what had happened. He told me that he "thought 12 was too young to get a nose piercing", citing maturity. My kid is extremely precautious, and made a wonderful case to me about having checked the risks. We went through them together, and my wife and I agreed to allow her. THIS IS OUR CALL TO MAKE, NOT HIS!!! To this very moment I cannot fathom what inspired him to corner my kid in his shop, and rip her a new one over something her parents had agreed to. His contractual agreement is with us, not with her. She is 12. Her agreeing with him, or not has NOTHING to do with him, as she is INTERDICTED from entering into a contract at 12. My wife tried to interject, and he ignored her. I simply cannot understand what he thinks gives him the right to undermine OUR JUDGMENT when it comes to OUR DAUGHTER!!! I used to be an Adranaline fan-boy, because the shop belongs to the family of a friend, and they were kind enough to invite us to a NYE party (Maestro Fresh Wes, y'all!). Not so much anymore, now that I know that they hire the morality police to second guess adult parents' judgment calls I am beside myself with rage that this moment, which was supposed to be a reward for her maintaining an above 80% average all year, was turned into a horror show, just because some little puke decided that he thought that, as a piercer, he is also the arbiter of the moral decisions of other families. For more than one reason, I will never step foot in that shop again, and will do whatever I can to spread the word about this little sphincter. It also says that we spent between 1 and 200$ because that is what it would have cost had he not ruined her day. She literally cried most of the way home, and is now afraid to go to any piercer for fear of being publicly shamed again (I didn't mention that he said all this to her in the presence of other customers and staff, further shaming her in public... at 12).... I had never been to XS before, but I recently went in to check them out and was blown away. They were extremely kind, attentive and knowledgeable. Best service: -I did not wait long at all before I was approached by a staff member. -I was not treated like an idiot (I have no visible tattoos or original piercings), in my experience a lot of shops judge the customer at first glance. XS did not. They were informative, but not condescending. -The staff was honest and not afraid to work with each other to come to the best conclusion or answer to any question I asked. -They were clean/hygienic and committed to my safety and theirs. I was so comfortable, I had my nose pierced on the spot. I was comfortable, had trust and didn't really feel a thing. Nico, who pierced me was exceptional. I worked in retail most of my life and unfortunately, most people only feel the urge to write a review if they are displeased. RACIST ASSAULT AGAINST CLIENT…read more If I could give zero or less stars I would. A couple of days ago I found out that this place had a new apprentice who was doing tattoos for free to advance herself in the field. I went to get one done, the work was decent, athough I had a very aggressive consultation from the head piercer. I was asking questions out of curiosity for pricing on certain piercings and was met with condescending responses rejecting my business. Unfortunately, I had to come back today as two of my friends were going to get the same deal with the new tattoo girl. Once they were finally met by an employee working in the shop, after a very very long wait time, and after getting a copy of my friend Nick's ID they accused him of falsifying the document, and racially profiling him as "mexican" and "black". Nick, clearly was offended by the racial slurs and uncalled for accusations on his identity so took back his stencil he provided that he was going to have tattooed on him saying that the guy acting out of line for Slick Styled Steel was a dumbass, ripped up the stencil and walked out of the shop to meet up with a girlfriend he was there with. Not one but TWO men followed Nick out of the shop and began yelling at him saying "get the fuck out of here now!", Nick turned around and the employee named Alex assaulted him by pushing him into the street. Now, not only is this cause for pressing charges against him for assault, but also, the employee named Alex and the other employee named Jesse were under the impression that Nick was under the age of 18. To me, thats assaulting a minor. This will be going directly to the SPVM as a report of aggravated assault with the intent to harm a minor. This will be the last time any of us will enter this shop for obvious reasons and I would advise any one else to do the same. Thank you for the very extreme altercation that should have never happened in the first place. Racial profiling and assault are never something any business should promote and serious action needs to be taken against all parties involved with Slick Styled Steel.
