I brought my 1994 Mazda MX-6 in for an inspection and paid $99. After inspecting the car, I was presented with a very substantial list of recommended work. The recommendations included: * Remanufactured brake booster replacement * Front rotor replacement * Rear rotor replacement * Brake fluid flush * Control arm/suspension work * Timing belt kit and water pump replacement * Tire balancing * Wheel alignment * I was also advised about a valve-cover gasket leak and other concerns during the inspection. Taken together, the repairs being discussed amounted to thousands of dollars -- more than $5,000 based on the estimates and work being recommended. Because this seemed excessive, I decided not to authorize the work and took the car elsewhere for another professional opinion. The other garage disagreed with many of these findings. In the end, they replaced the one part they determined actually needed replacement, for approximately $250. The difference between the two assessments was more than $5,000. I understand that mechanics can legitimately have different opinions, particularly with a 32-year-old car. Preventative recommendations are also different from repairs that are immediately necessary. However, the enormous difference between these two assessments left me very uncomfortable with my experience at Speedy Apollo. I'm glad I sought another opinion before proceeding with thousands of dollars of recommended work. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone receiving a large repair estimate here to get an independent second opinion before authorizing the work.

Left the dealership with my vehicle and talked to many people on this issue and the truck had a previous market value of $31,000 ( full leather decked out) but possible new engine for $20,000 might be needed. Called Cetus and got a diagnostic appointment set up. Turns out Head Gasket needed replaced, two piston heads got cleaned and machined up, timing chains re-adjusted, New Fazers needed, all coolants and fluids redone so including parts worth $7,300 and labour of $4,600, all in for $13,000. includes a 1 year - 20,000 klm warranty Truck is absolutely operating like brand new. Cetus Auto Shop took me through everything on the diagnostics and actually came in a $1,000 less than the quote. They kept me up to date on the 6 days they had the vehicle and the experience was the best I have every had when it comes to an auto repair. I am a bit of a car junkie as I have restored 2 vehicles but totally impressed how they delivered the information, their concerns and their solutions! Rather than just grabbing air, I thought I'd stop in at a garage and get air AND a re-torque. I went into the office and their first question for me was, "did we do the rim change?" No.. "then you need to go there to do the work". I had kids in the back seat and a super low tire that needed air.. they sent me on the road like that.. knowingly. Because they hadn't done the rim change..dangerous, petty. Ridiculous. Re-torquing lug nuts has never been a difficult thing for me to get done at a random garage I'm driving by. Air.. that's a safety thing. Shame. I will NEVER recommend this garage. Very petty. Would have take 5 minutes tops.
