I visited Warwick, a few years ago, before the new library was built. What brought me, some 4,000 miles, from California to New York, was to research my ancestry. I am a direct descendant of James Burt and Nathaniel and Mary Burt Jones, who resided in Warwick, some 200 years ago!
What impressed me the most, about your small library (at the time), was the wonderful people, who helped me and who reside in Warwick. Donald McFarland and Sue Gardner, in my opinion, are two individuals who represent only the best of Warwick, through their example, dedication and compassion they show towards others.
If it wasn't for Sue Gardner's article, she wrote, in the Warwick Historical Papers, about my great grandfather, Nathaniel Jones, I would not have had the opportunity to find the copy of his memoirs in the Wisner Library. I will forever be grateful for her research and dedicated efforts, on behalf of myself and my posterity.
Don, who resides on the Burt Farm, was very kind to me and my wife, when we visited Warwick. I understand that he also donated the land on which the new library stands. What a wonderful kind act of generosity.
I anxiously look forward to visiting your new library, the next time I travel
back East. Until then, I will remember the kind people who reside in Warwick and the surrounding Orange Couinty areas.
With gratitude to Sue, Don, and all the residents who live in Warwick. read more
