Is wanting an early morning coffee an American thing? I want to get up at five, have some coffee and go down to the gym before the day starts. Maybe a little coffee maker in the room even? -The hotel gym, while beautifully situated in this cool little converted room/free standing outbuilding deeper on the grounds, consisted of two or three cardio machines. No free weights, no weight machines. -the Restaurant Park Laurin (again, in a BEAUTIFUL environment under a canopy on the grounds) was good but not great. -The lobby was pretty sweltering when we first entered. (in June) But enough minor complaints. Overall, the place was pretty awesome. Just old-school enough, very charming, spacious rooms, amazing grounds to walk around (see pix), all the staff were great, deluxe breakfast buffet. The cocktail we had on the Laurin Bar patio overlooking the lush, green grounds made for one of the best moments of the 4 days in Bolzano.

Our party of 3 stayed here for 2 nights, in two separate rooms, both in the main castle structure. Pros: - Absolutely stunning place. We arrived and it was just "wow wow wow" with the multiple pools (and an infinity pool with an amazing view of the valley), beautiful gardens, restaurant terrace with stunning views. The entire hotel just feels very perfect with the castle decor, and then the traditional vespas out front to rent, and a garage full of very fancy cars. While we were running in and out to explore Bolzano and the entire area, we definitely noticed that most of the guests seemed to be there purely to enjoy the hotel itself and never left, which makes sense. They also have a gym, indoor pool, more saunas etc that I never even used. - Friendly staff - Comfortable and very sizable rooms. I had an entire balcony plus a rooftop terrace for myself overlooking the valley. The bathroom (and especially the shower) was fantastic. They also provide everything you'll need for the pool in a cute tote bag. - great breakfast!! An extensive buffet and friendly service. Cons: - No AC, and they ran out of fans when we asked for one. It would make a world of difference if they had screens on the doors and windows - I'm all for allowing outside air to cool down the room, but I also ended up with VERY large insects that I had to.....relocate either physically or spiritually. House centipede and grasshoppers, anyone? - Wish they had communicated better with what the wine tasting offerings were - we only learned that they offered it the following day, when they wouldn't have any more lol. Really fantastic final location for our trip. The entire area is very beautiful and this was a great way to enjoy it.

Great, old world hotel. Mostly German is spoken in this part of Italy, but English and Italian are…read morealso spoken in the hotel. The women are dressed like maidens and every breathtaking view will remind you of the sound of music. After dinner, head down to the wine cellar for wine and cheese and they also offer a variety of strudel for your sweet tooth. Breakfast consists of eggs made to order, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, cereal, fruit juices, coffee. The church next door rings bells every 15mins, but after the first hour you don't even notice it. The hotel has mostly older guests, 65+, but if you're younger and looking for some nightlife, there is a bar down the hill (1 minute walk) that offers live music and drinks. My two gripes: the bathroom is tiny and the door is glass so you have zero privacy. The beds are a little old and creek with every turn. All in all, it was a great experience and I'm glad we checked this off of our bucket list!
